Weight Loss When is a good time to give up weight loss Jun 04 2009

I think this talk of "giving up weight loss" is really foolish. Obviously, we all fall off the wagon (or most of us, anyway). For days, weeks, months, years. But to actually plan to fail... that's not so common.

Think about it. What exactly will giving up get you? Will it get you thin? Will it make you healthy to give up this lifestyle? Will it make you happy? What you should be doing is committing yourself to a healthy, sustainable lifestyle and realizing that the key word is lifestyle. Because this should be for life. So find something that you can keep up. Don't starve yourself, but eat a healthy amount. Exercise in a way you enjoy and will continue to enjoy for life. Play sport or something.

Hey, I know how you feel. I had mono last summer. Not as bad as you. I didn't have to go to the hospital or anything. But I was tired. Standing for more than 10-20 minutes made me sweaty and tired. But after the first 2 weeks, my doctor told me I was ok to go back to the gym. She said as long as I wasn't playing sport, it was fine for me to do some light jogging or bike riding. My father wouldn't let me, though. Didn't want me to wear myself out. :P

Hey there. I like this idea. I recently had the revelation that I think it's silly of me to set deadlines for my goals. I mean, I'm going to have to live like this for the rest of my life anyway, so what am I really counting down to?

Anyway. My name is Victoria. I'm 18 and a rising sophomore in college. I'm in NYC when I'm at school and near Philly when I'm at home.

I come from a fat family and was up to 200 by the time I was in 8th grade. Yikes! Senior year of high school, I went from 220 to about 185. By the end of that summer, I was 180. Then I gained 25 of those pounds back freshman year of college. So I'm currently 205-210 at 5'6".

My wake up call was that I got back up over 200 when I promised myself I never would. Also, first thing my father said when I got home for summer, after hello, was "You've gained a lot of weight." Also, my oldest brother has lost 130 pounds in the past 2 years, and he keeps saying I need to be more disciplined.

I don't want to be self-conscious anymore. I don't want to hide from cameras when I'm out with my friends. I want to be as confident about my body as I am about my personality. Ideally, I'll end up at a healthy 140-150. But I'm not too concerned about that. I just want to be healthy. I plan on not even weighing myself until Thanksgiving. :)

The Lounge too young to lose virginity???? May 26 2009

I'm not sure if it's too young in general. I think it varies from person to person. Based on maturity levels. I think casual sex is never a good thing. I think sex should be a special connection with someone you genuinely love/care for. I'm 18 and still a virgin. I've been with my boyfriend for over a year and even though he's ready and willing, like any teenage boy, he's respecting my decision to wait. I know not many teens approach sex the way I do, but I think they should. However, if she's mature enough to have sex responsibly, then it's up to her I guess.

I call all my friends "kids" when I'm addressing them in a group. Even though they're all older than I am. It's not patronising. It's just an expression.
