Original Post by mg4820: Welcome back mg. I will bet that rowing will help the soft and the sluggish. Keep at it a little at a time. |

Original Post by maxx86: 13 km total it is. You have to do at least 1 more km this month. You mustn't end at 13...bad luck and all. |

Original Post by maxx86: Running is wonderful. The important thing is to keep working out, regardless of what type of exercise. 4 km is great. |

Original Post by maxx86: Is it something in the air? I'm feeling sluggish as well; have been for a couple of months. Ever since we moved to a new place, I'm finding it difficult to get motivated - or I should say that I'm finding outside distractions more interesting. Keep plugging away Maxx. We'll all get there eventually. This is the true meaning of 'slow and steady wins the race'.

Original Post by dabrock: Excellent dabrock. I know what you mean about wanting to be out on the water. We just moved to a village by a river and I hear that there's a rowing club somewhere around here. I'm really going to have to look into that. |

Original Post by follyhox: 24.24 km on the erg and 23 km on water. That's 47.24 km total. Wonderful. The water row sounds fantastic. I really have to try to get out into the real world one day. All this indoor rowing is great, but nothing like being on water. Keep at it and post your indoor and outdoor totals as you row them. |

Original Post by maxx86: Nice work Maxx. How are you finding the workouts? As for me, I am great when I row, but getting motivated to do the work is troublesome. I need to be about 30 years younger, methinks. |

Original Post by dabrock: You may want to post your total for each session dabrock; that will allow you to be sure that I don't miss a post. Take it slowly as you get back into it. As you say, there are different muscle groups being worked, and they will need time to build. |

Original Post by dabrock: That makes 3 km total, right? From your post I'm not sure if the 11/05 entry you wrote is the same as the previous post or an additional row. Either, you're doing great. How do you like coming back to rowing? |

Welcome to crew juls. any rowing you do in the month of the challenge will count towards the goal. This is the November challenge, so row away and let us know how far you've gone. And, while you're at it, tell us about yourself. We like new people and would like to get to know you.

Oops...bad Oarsman, bad Oarsman. I've been swamped at work and have had very little time to do anything else that's actually useful. Okay, I've posted the November challenge Great idea with the cross-training maxx. I wish that I could still run, but those days are over for me. Let's see if this month can be an improvement. Row on everyone!

Original Post by follyhox: Most of us are indoors. You'll find that some of the CC rowing crew have been a little scarce here. We're in a bit of a drop in participation; some with injuries, others just taking it a little slowly. Hopefully you'll be able to inject some energy back into the group. Let us know how your water-rowing goes. I just moved to a new place and there is a rowing club very near to me. I'm going to look at joining them after this winter. The river here in NY is spectacular; I can imagine that rowing in the early morning will be wonderful.

Original Post by follyhox: That all sounds like some wonderful workout sessions. The 5000 m until Thanksgiving should be about 120 km. I don't know aobut the winter training plan nor about the on-water rowing. Why don't I put you down for 150 km for November and see how that goes. Does that sound okay to you? You are more than welcome to add the on-water rowing if you know how far you've rowed. A good estimate will be fine too. I'll have the November challenge up soon; maybe this month I'll actually get some decent rowing done. Until then you can post your results here. Happy rowing.

Hi Follyhox, Welcome to our rowing club. The rules are easy. You row then post your distance. While you're at it, post how your session went and anything else that you want to share. We all try to keep each other motivated and chat about anything and everything. At the start of the month we set goals for ourselves, but sometimes, like this month, the goal is really just something to think about. I personally have had a tough time getting back on the rower after a recent move to a new place. If you want to join in, just post your goal, and I'll add you to next month's challenge.

Original Post by mg4820: What's your stroke rate? How many strokes per minute are you doing? In rowing, sometimes slowing down actually speeds you up. What I mean is that sometimes if you lower your strokes per minute it will feel that you are rowing slower, but in fact your splits may get better. Does your rower measure the strokes per minute as well as splits? |

Original Post by kmyla: Thanks, great site. I was using mapmywalk.com but this seems like it may be better. Unfortunately it doesn't have any trails, but I'll see if I can fake it somehow. And thanks brendenj and foisgras. I will have to think about what to do. Perhaps that pedometer will work. I just got a trail map as well so I'll see if I can somehow map the trails on kmyla's walkjogrun. brendenj, I am so looking forward to the fall colors. The leaves have just started to turn, and even with the little bit of color, it is spectacular. I lived for most of my adult life in Los Angeles. This is better. |
