I try and go every other day!
Upper body one day next day lower body ans Sunday's off.
I try and walk with my wife every day......the cardio was killing me!

I guess when you love to eat it is a good problem to have but the exercise takes up a lot of time!
I might want to eat less if I exercised less? |

My wife is totally supportive. I am 5'10. I know I need to cut my activity still a bit addicted to fitness I eat a ton daily and I love to eat so I justify all my eating with the exercise......what a fun process!
I am on the right road as I let the weight come on slowly but I need to speed it up or I will freeze to death this winter! :):) |

Just know you are not alone!
I too am an exercise addict and I turned something so good into something so bad!
Unlike others I can't stay out of the gym! Should be so easy to rest.....I am getting there as I added in a day of rest and now I may even take a week off after reading this post....I lift weights everyday but I can't build muscle mass because I am so active...it is so stupid but all mental! |

Heading to Vegas next week sounds like a great week for some R&R.what the heck I have earned it.
I just wasn't sure if you were in the cardio routine if you would lose your wind. |

It does make sense.....it helps....I have been to the Dr. and I have borderline anemia so I really need to crank it up the next few weeks to get weight back on..so odd to be able to pig out and not gain a ton of weight.
At least I eat clean 90% of the time so they are GOOD calories! |

As I try and gain 20 lbs I have realized you just need to eat clean and eat til your full!
If that is 2000 clean calories eat til your fill.....forget the numbers!
Good clean calories will build a happy healthey body! |

This is very interesting.
I weighed 288 lbs a year and a half ago. I lost over 100 lbs in five months and ended up losing a total of 154 lbs in 14 months by changing my diet and becoming an exercise bulemic!
It has taken me about six months to wean myself off the 30 miles a day on the recumbent bike!
My wife and I walk now and I lift weights.
I have one question now that you have lightened up the exercise do you eat the same amount to put weight on or do you eat less?
I still eat a ton but it is not coming back real fast so I am trying to up calories.....I am trying to put 20 lbs back on! :) |

I have un healthy foods daily...usually four to five cookies with my skim milk before bed and two nights a week when I am out on business I have 13 or 14 light beers.
No worries with the calorie intake here I was just curious on how the weigth comes back if you eat pretty clean.
I have been around the same weight for a few months so as I begin to go from 2500 calories to 3000 I was wondering what I might expect even though it is different for everyone. |

When I was in town a few weeks ago I did The Planet Hollywood Buffet Monday Night.
Tuesday I had the LV Hilton Breakfast Buffet twice Planet Hollywood buffet for lunch and the Gold Coast Buffet for dinner.......Wednesday before my 11 AM flight I had the LV Hilton Buffet two more times!
Drank a ton of Mich Ultra's both nights and still lost two lbs! |

Oats rock and it was a staple as I lost my weight! It is also great to gain weight which is where I am now very veratile food and soooo good!
I put splenda and cinnamon and some syrup in mine twice a day two cups of oats!
Trying steel cut here soon. |

If doing HIIT on a stationary bike do you keep the resistance level the same and measure expenditure of energy by RPM or do you adjust resistance and keep RPM the same? |

Good for you I am at 137 with a goal of 160 and I can't get a pound and a half on a week. Hoping a few days in Vegas next week will cure that! :) |

Thanks I do upper body one day lower body the next along with the daily walks and the 20-25 minuts on the bike.
I will try cutting out the bike and see how quickly the weight comes back as well as what it does to my metabolism.......right now I eat 2500 to 3000 calories a day pretty clean foods....I am still always hungry.
Go to Vegas next Monday through Wednesday and I may have to enjoy a few cheat days! |

I have a high level scale that gives me that number and with 30 miles a day on the bike I am high level activity

Recumbents are awesome!
I lost my 154 lbs in a year soley riding the recumbent for cardio!
I was doing thirty miles a day reading the paper and hitting three level intervals by resistance 60-60-60....it really isn't the equipment it is the effort and intensity! :):):) |

Many people think I am crazy but when you lose 154 lbs you worry aboutgain........i knowi need abreak as iamvery blessed i have notbeen injured......three days off from exercise since January 10th 2008 no injuryno illness and forover ayear of that i wasdoingthirtymiles a day of interval on the recumbent |

If you do take a break what does it do to your metabolism/endurance....I have not taken a break in a year and a half if you take a break from exercise and you continue to walk or do mild activity for that week does your body pile on the weight? |

I agree she is in awesome shape! Both of our hearts are in tip top shape I just need to gain 20 lbs and she is working on toning the butt!
She does lift weights every other day and she takes a day off here and there...she does lunges but squats may be a good option as well. We have worked with some trainers and the opinions we were looking for were on the food before work out thing!
Any other feedback...words of encouragement or advice are appreciated! |

I am 5'10 and currently I am 140 lbs......I was 288 1-10-2008 and I lost 110 lbs by 7-18-2008 got to 135 lbs 11-2009 and I have been wanting to get back to 160 lbs since then.
As all on here understand the mental issue of gaining to much back too quicklyafter the lifestyle change has been my biggest challenge.
I lost the weight doing intervals on the recumbent bike everyday hard core for 30 miles! I also drastically changed my eating habits.stayed between 2000 and 2500 calories ofclean eating daily!
My wife has always been in great shape and she was running 6 miles a day and she very encouraging and a tremendous partner trhough my weight loss awesome encouragement as well!
I am in the place now where I really need to gain my body fat is at 7.8% and I am very weak.
I lift weights every day and I do very minimal cardio on the bike to loosen the legs.
My wife and I walk our dogs two miles in the morning and at night.
That is what is going on with me...most people are telling me to cut the cardio entirely and to up my calories about 1000 a day until I see sustained weight gain over a month.
Any other thoughts and advice is much appreciated! |

Great feedback....I have been between 135 and 142 over the past 4 or 5 months.....I eat a bunch but I can't gain more than 2 or 3 lbs in a week and then they go away.
As I have increased my calories I still lift weights daily and do my 4 mile puppy walks with my wife daily....I do a little cardio as well but I am trying to cut that out until I see steady weight/muscle gain.
Any other advice?
I probably need to stay away from the scale! |

Some great advice! Here is a little background on me. January 10th of 2008 I weighed 288 lbs today I weight 137 and I am trying to gain weight to get back to about 160 lbs. I lost all the weight by drastically changing my eating habits. I always kept to 2ooo to 2500 calories with one to two cheat days. I am still around 2500 calories daily but I have carved out most of the cheat items in my diet. I eat very clean. I do have skim milk with some sweets once a day whether it be cookies cake brownies gotta have the sweets.
Outside of changing the eating habits I did all cardio interval and weights every other day. I was doing hard cardio intervals about 90 minutes daily. The reason for the post is because I am having a hard time gaining weight back as I do eat so clean. I will be 41 Thursday and I am afraid if I cut out my daily exercise I will stop doing as I did over the last ten years and ballooned to 288 lbs.
Feels awesome to be off all meds and doing so well! I really appreciate the feedback sounds like folks are saying eat the way I have been with a cheat day. I do have two days or so a week that I have 12-15 light beers...that is my cheat :):) I should focus more on weights than all the high intensity cardio and I chould probably mix in a few rest days. I have only taken two days off in the last year and a half........so far no injuries or sickness! |

Just got back from Vegas....drank all I wantded and hit two buffets a day.....just make good food choices and stay active walk walk walk........I ran five miles on the strip each morning up your activity and have a blast out there! |

So you can log your weight -- which allows you to do the following:
- Plot your weight curve
- Analyze the trend of your weight (see under Recent in the figure above)
- Determine the projected target date (see under Overall in the figure above)
