you can apply small weights to the rope and it calculates your calories burned based on height and weight from what I gathered. I got it off amazon for $15 and thus far it seems worth it to me.

Fitness Too Shy to go for a Walk :( Jun 11 2009

I use to live in philadelphia and I wanted to go for runs so badly but was intimidated by all the people around. One day I just decided to do it, and like I figured no one paid attention to me. Especially in crowded areas, people have too much going on in their own little worlds. I would just go for it! I don't have social anxiety, but it could help if you face your fears. Its easier for me to say I know, but try to push through it!

dehydration contributes to the appearace of cellulite, and caffiene (diuretic) dehydrates the body..but it doesn't directly cause cellulite, the cause is mostly genetic..i know some very fit and healthy people that have it, its weird

i LOVE LOVE LOVE quinoa, its so good for you and can be dressed so many different ways, its also very filling. I like to make salads with it...cold or hot..today for instance I have quinoa with avocado, mung bean sprouts, cherry tomatoes, white raisins, and black beans with a mustard/white wine vinegar dressing I made. I prepare it before i go to work and i nibble on it through out the day and it keeps me going.

Fresh salads are really great for keeping things interesting..So many vegetables and fruits compliment eachother and are delicious

I didn't do the atkins diet per say, but I have done zero-carb diets and from my experience they have never worked long term. They are great for shedding water weight and a quick drop in weight, however it's not easy to stick to. Balance and moderation is the best.

were you a heavy smoker? I've tried to quit several times and I was pretty sick for most of it (i use to smoke a pack a day), Whenever i've tried cold turkey I get terrible migranes which then induce nausea, light headedness, leathargy, moodiness, its pretty awful. The symptoms lessen as time goes by but if they stick around for more than two-two and half weeks it might be something else

Why did you ask for everyone's opinion if you're going to try them anyway regardless if everyone is saying its not such a smart idea. You are completely contradicting yourself. Nothing is going to help you reach your goals faster than sticking to a healthy plan. Just because you're a healthy 20 yearold now doesn't mean ANYTHING, and just makes you seem very naive.

You said you drank too much alcohol, so chances are you are retaining water. I would say for the next few days stick to your diet..avoid sodium, drink water to flush out your system and you will probably lose most of it

Weight Loss How to figure out proper goal weight? Jun 02 2009

if you're just trying to get lean and weight loss isn't the primary goal than I would say to measure, and if you can, find out your body fat percentage and base your progress off that. Rather than aiming for a particular number at first, track your progress slowly and carefully..you might realize that you prefer your body a higher percentage/higher measuremets than what some people may consider "ideal"

Weight Loss Number of Hours of Sleep vs Time you Sleep Jun 02 2009

I just graduated from art school..even during "down" time I would get at most five hours a night..maybe 7 on the weekends (18 credits of studio classes will make your life a living hell). The less sleep I got the more cravings for sugar I had..makes perfect sense. I also had NO energy to exercise. But now that I am employed...simple 9-5..I get around 8 or 9 hours...its amazing! and now I don't even need coffee that much..except the morning of course.

Motivation I thought this was appropriate... Jun 02 2009

it's all relative I think. When it comes to "triggers", anything remotely related to weight loss (this site even) can trigger someones tendency to dangerously restrict. This quote could be good motivation to combat mid-day/late night cravings...sure giving in once in a while is ok, but lets face it giving in a little bit all the time isn't going to work. Recovering from an ED is very much like recovering from any addiction. If I was an alcoholic it  wouldn't be smart of me to go to a bar...etc etc. But I have a tough love kind of approach, i've  dealt with addiction, and we're all responsible for our own actions, no one else...and i've completely gone on a tangent..sorry!

Weight Loss Afraid of feeling full Jun 02 2009

There is a difference between feeling "full" and feeling "satisfied". I'm the type of person who can nibble for hours on end without ever really feeling full. Slowly but surely though I am starting to recogize when I'm satisfied...aka until I am no longer hungry..which is actually on much less food than I thought I "needed" to have. I don't think you should ever feel bad for feeling satisfied...I'd be the crabbiest person alive if I always felt hungry.

This isn't the nicest subject but one that goes hand in hand with diet.......... it could be your poo's. When you make a change in your eating habits it can make you become irregular. Whether the change is from bad eating to good, or vice versa. Even from eating 3,000 calories a day to only 1,500. Being a dieter for several years now I notice it all the time. Often, one birthday party with cake and pizza can make me irregular for 2 weeks when my body has been used to salad and fruit and low fat whole grain healthy things.... Even if you are still going you might not be evacuating everything. If you stick to your diet things should all work themselves out and I bet you'll see a drop any time now. It's always the hardest in the beginning. ...... And in the end....... When they say the last ten pounds are the hardest they mean it, I've been stuck there forever!

I couldn't agree more. I read somewhere (so I don't know how true it is) but depending on weight, someone could have anywhere between 10-30lbs of feces in their colon (higher number is for people that are more overweight) that is just sitting there..rotting (gross i know, but its true). Its so important to be regular and get a lot of fiber. An unheathly colon can lead to an array of health problems, and can definitely hinder weight loss.
