Thanks... I think if we have someone like a sponsor / support person to turn to when we feel not so motivated then it will help push us through! |

I was on steroids (decadron) for a couple months. I believe it is a corticosteroi. Since being off of it I have beenstruggling to lose the weight. It's coming off though. I lost about 20 of the 45 lbs I gained. I do have a lot of muscle weakness after I exercise. It seems like it is getting better but I guess in time it will. |

I do light weight training.. I can't lift more then 10 lbs per arm because I have an issue with the lymph nodes in my right arm. So there is not much I can do there. I'll work on my legs more though.. |

i"m 5'4" and at 194 I wore a 16.. at 174 I just fit into 14. At 150 I fit into 12. So I guess it really depends on how the weight is distributed rather then how many lbs you are. |

| Health & Support | Any other breast cancer survivors out there on Tamoxifen? | Aug 25 2008 14:45 (UTC) |

I just started Tamoxifen and it has made me feel so depressed and I have some hives from it but I think thats for another forum on a different site! ha. I had gained about 40 lbs from the chemo and I had a couple months inbetween chemo and starting the tamoxifen so I was able to lose about 18 lbs. I think a lot of it was water weight from steroids. Anyway I have plataued but I am not sure yet if it if from tamoxifen or not. I'm making sure I do strict calorie counting and am stepping up my exercise. You can add me as a friend if you want and we can work through this together.. |

Pretty much all my friends are thing and taller then I am. They eat whatever and some even take weight gainer to keep from being too thin! So today we all went to the cheesecake factory. That kills my small meals through out the day plan! I usually try to order something and take it home. My bf eats so much and never even looks bloated! |

Hey Olivia.. 31 works! I was 150 back in December and I gained 44 pounds from Meds.. so now I am off it the 16 pounds came off fast.. the next 33 seem a bit harder to shed. I am working from home these days so I can work out any time. I have been doing 30 minutes (light jogging) on the treadmill 3-4 times a week and then a 4 mile walk or bike ride a couple times a week. I am making sure I eat 1200-1400 calories a day so I can have a 800 to a 1000 calorie deficit at the end of the day. It helps me burn a pound or two a week...
what are you doing?
Oh and Thanks compoundkid! |

| Weight Loss | Weight gain and steroids? | Jun 20 2008 20:41 (UTC) |

I was taking steroids for 3 months along with chemo.. I gained 40 lbs in those months.. a good chunk of that was water weight as I not am deflated. So yes steroids can cause bloating and weight gain. I've lost 10 of those lbs in 2 months.. so its a slow loss for me which makes me think loosing weight after steroids is a lot tougher,...... |

GEOFF... Don't get down on yourself. One day won't ruin your diet and it looks like the figures show you still had around a 500 calorie deficit so while it was great you didn't turn to alcohol you helped yourself out in another way! As long as you don't move on to candy bars as a band aid for things then you will be golden! Focus on your A days and getting back into those! It is very impressive how well you do! I can never seem to get a lot of A days.. I'm more of a B+ or B- :) |

I just got wii ski and it's fun but you do use the arms for a lot more then the balance board. I tried it with and without the balance board and found it was a lot more fun with the board. The control felt better.. |

Original Post by dbackerfan: Techgirl -- the problem with the HRM that only estimate your cal burn by what your heart rate is at the time you put your finger on the button aren't very accurate. The chest strap kind that do constant recording are going to be more accurate also if you have one that takes into account your Vo2 will be even more accurate. THanks! Someone on another post recommended the Polar f6. It has a wireless chest strap. Maybe that is better way to go? http://www.polarusa.com/Products/fseries/f6.a sp?cat=consumer Has anyone tried this? |

ibii - Don't let it get you down. I lost 4 lbs last week and lost nothing this week so far. Sometimes that happens. I find that sometimes it is good to have a day here and there where I eat a little more. What are you doing for exercise? |

I just usually hold the remote in my right hand. I tried it in my pocket but it kept falling out and felt uncomfortable. I unlocked the boxing.. it's a lot of fun! I want to get the wii ski they have ... it uses the balance board and both the remote and nunchuck! |

I have a sportline heart rate monitor which I have to apply my finger to a button on the front to get a heart rate reading... I've used it on my 4.5 mile walk and it says for 74 minutes of exercise I burned 1084 calories. When I came home and typed in walking on calorie count activity log the choices I get show the most burn at 334 calories. So which is correct? I'd hate to think I burned 1084 when I really burned a lot less. Also what is the target zone? Here is how I tried to figure mine estimated max
heart rate is 220-(age) 34=186
Problem is I don't feel like I am working out until I reach 160-180 bpm so IDK what is the right thing to be doing. Any help would be so appreciated! Maybe the watch I have isn't that accurate? |

| Fitness | Pulled groin / hamstring muscle - what to do? | Jun 03 2008 22:14 (UTC) |
|
I think I may have pulled or irritated my groin muscle too. It's not painful i just have this annoying ache and a slight stretching feeling in that area. I assume it is a groin pull? What is yours feeling like? I had the same issue 4 weeks ago. I rested for 5 days and stretched a little and I felt better. Now it's back again. So I guess I didn't rest it enough. |
