Some gyms have machines that you "cycle" with your arms. It's not nearly as effective cariovascularly as running, but it does give you something to do. When you'd normally be out. I had to use one for a while. Stress fracture after the last marathon :-( |

I am so jealous!!! I've had the same problem, only I stopped the binging about 20 years ago. I've been able to stay at a normal healthy weight by weighing, counting and getting pretty good at seeing proper portions. Unfortunately, my body doesn't really feel anything. That is such a great step. You are definitely moving in the right direction and it sounds like your body is healing itself. |

Same. I like foods that aren't mainstream, so I google a lot. Sometimes I just breakout each individual item in the recipe (if I'm cooking at home). It's time consuming, but gets the result I need. |

Your revenge will be sweet. I was one of those people who could (and did) eat whatever I wanted, whenever I wanted. I intentionally tormented my not so fortunate siblings. By the time we hit our mid-thirties the tables had turned. They had learned to monitor what they ate, I hadn't and found myself 40 lbs overweight. They remained constant and reminded me constantly that I used to be skinny. It has taken me over five years to lose all the weight, about four and a half were spent trying to accept the fact that a bottomless bag of cheetos wasn't going to lead to a svelt body. I know it's not always fun right now, but you're going to win this one in the end. Keep watching your brother. Eventually he'll look like he's about to give birth to 15 sliders.

terry2fish is sooo right. The discomfort you feel will pass and once you've sat with it a couple of times. After awhile it's not quite so hurtful and you'll realize just how strong you are. Once the reality of that hits you it's as powerful as your first mile/10k/marathon. I also find that getting on here and just acknowledging that I'm hurt/upset/angry and not hungry really helps me refocus. Hang in there and keep running! |
