oh definitely - my self-worth is NOT at stake here!

I'm actually just using them as objective measurement tools but you make good points that they're really not going to be so objective but not necessarily on purpose.

Hi downdeep,

Yeah, I've heard that's the way to go, but that's too complicated for me to measure at home. I don't go to a gym, and I even mess up with the freakin tape measure. So right, now, at least until I get into the healthy range I'm judging by scale (and the way my clothes fit) but yeah, you're right...it's something I should try to do

Weight Loss 5'2ers, what's your goal weight? Nov 14 2009
19:56 (UTC)

I like threads that just don't die. Useful information from over the last couple years!

I'm also 5'2" -- I started out at 153.8lbs and as of this morning I'm at 141.4lbs. It's taken me three months to lose these 11 or so pounds. My first goal weight is 135 because then I'd be in the healthy BMI range. It seems like the 6.4 pounds till that goal are going to be a WITCH though.

My next goal is 130, and I re-evaluate there. My sister is built like me, and she is super skinny at 115-120. I'm not sure I'm the kind of person though who will be able to lose another 20 pounds from where I am. I don't like to exercise hardcore AT ALL, and I know it requires that after a certain point. So far, I've lost the weight by mostly just walking and counting religiously.

I hope to actually SEE some results soon.

Weight Loss Underate today...what to do tomorrow? Nov 11 2009

The only time where maybe it's bad is if you're restricted to 1200 for a diet and you eat 150 calories below that one day? but that's just a guess on my part - bc prob one day of that won't really hurt but it just shouldn't become a regular thing.

If you could lose weight anywhere on your body where would it be:

my face (omg i hate my cheeks) and arms

What is your favorite weight loss breakfast: probiotic yogurt

What is your favorite weight loss lunch: grilled cajun chicken and salad

What is your favorite weight loss dinner: amy's organic spinach lasgna (it's not a weight loss fave just a fave that i eat anyway - not a lot of cals in it and fills me up)

What is your weight loss dessert: sugar free pudding

What are your snacks and how many do you eat (times a day): i like celery with ranch dressing and a 100 cal pack of something (i'm good at eating JUST that one)

What is your indulgent dessert: depends - it's been awhile since i've had one but i love those godiva double choc chip cookies at sbucks - i haven't had one in three months which is super impressive for me since i see them like everyday)

What are the few things that you avoid: cookies and such

What is your favorite workout: just walking

How do you stay motivated: i think fear is a good motivator - and i'm afraid of an upcoming reunion -ha.

Weight Loss Daily Weigh Ins? Nov 08 2009

i try to weigh daily - i have a roommate though and i'm trying to lose weight in secret (it's better for my mental health to do it this way) so I have to keep the scale in my room and carry it into the bathroom - some days I don't do it bc of the rush in the morning with the two of us trying to run in and out. I really prefer to do it daily though.

(I'd weigh in my room but it's carpeted)

i haven't read this whole thread (don't want to get in the middle of your fun!) but if someone really thinks that 1200 calories a day is really bad, would you mind making a separate post and explaining exactly the how and why? I've been counting calories for a couple months now and for the FIRST time ever i'm losing weight but i'm only 5'2" and lead a TOTALLY sedentary life. no exercise at all! so my bmr time 1.2 gives me 1730 so i cut 500 from that and i eat 1225 calories a day and i lose a pound a week.

I mean, i did what the website has said an i'm seeing exactly what i should expect to see --- but i would like to see (like i said, maybe in another thread?) how this is a bad thing?

edit: oh and I'm not hungry all the time at all doing this. i drink lots of water and tea, too.

thanks for the info! yeah, the lettuce thing was just a weird craving tonight. I can maybe look at altering my eating a bit like you suggest. I'm just nervous to do that because it's been working, yknow? I've been at this about 8 weeks now (not long I realize) and I've lost 8 pounds (a miracle and first time ever in my life even if I am on the only who can notice, i'm pleased!) but only the last like three days have I gotten a little hungry at night...guess I'll see how it plays out.

it feels good but at the same time makes the whole journey a bit daunting. i just have to take it a day at a time cause otherwise i get so depressed! i also need to just remind myself not to be too hard on myself!

the positive feedback really helped me out today! thank you thank you!

Weight Loss scales (gosh darn it) Sep 29 2009

I thought that was a brilliant idea so I just did that...both scales were off on my 5lb dumbell by .4 and .6 respectively yet they weigh me a good 16 pounds differently. and i wouldn't care (well too much) if i could just get a consistent number within 10 minutes so that i could really track a difference.

Weight Loss Diet Soda?? Jun 04 2009

Switching from regular coke (which I love like drugs, no joke) to diet was the best thing I could've done and I'm not giving up the diet stuff now. I drink diet sierra mist and diet root beer - I keep them in my house and they're great to have with a meal.  I realize that my answer is not the popular one or the most nutritious but I have to give up so many other things while dieting that this is one that I am not ready to give up - maybe someday, but I just can't see it in the near future.

Thanks guys :) Yeah, the trick here was I didn't know where we were going -- we were just hanging out at starbucks before we decided to go to dinner.

That's a good site, thanks! For olive garden I just went to their website because they list all nutritional information on there, too.
