Honestly, I don't believe in these products. I don't believe there is a magic formula for anything, from cellulite, strech marks or weight loss. I think massage makes the most difference with these products, so massage them in with long, sweeping motions in direction towards your heart.  Good luck.

Weight Loss I felt a bit down today and I ate 1600 what should I do? Jun 08 2009

If I go over my calorie allowance or I know I'll have a 'heavy' day, I just try to squeeze more exercise in the day. But don't skip meals, it will just do you more bad than good.

Weight Loss Fruit binges?...Anyone else with the same problem? Jun 08 2009

Original Post by ktaylor17:

out of curiousity, does anybody know what would happen if 75% of their diet consisted of fruit and vegetables?

I'm wondering the same thing as well, because since I started counting calories (never done it before), I realized I'm getting much more satisfacion from fruit than grilled chicken breast. I have a well balanced, home cooked meal once a day, but other than that, I mostly eat fruit. How bad is it?

I started fruit bingeing when I stopped eating chocolate, because I realized it was a trigger food for me and I just couldn't stop eating it until it was gone. And I was buying big, 300g (10 oz) chocolates. SO now I kinda have the same thing with fruit, but I'm OK with it, because with chocolate, I finish 1500 cals in about half an hour. It takes a lot of fruit to have 1500 cals. Def an improvement for me.

Health & Support I sprained my ankle and OMG it hurt so bad and I am so frustrated right now. Jun 08 2009

A sprained ankle shouldn't hurt so bad after a week. If you haven't already, have it checked out. I've sprained my ankles plenty of times (thet's what you get for being the queen of clumsy and unable to sit still) and every time I've been up and around in about three days, tops. They even take of the cast after a week (had it twice) if you have it. It is annoying, but it really helps to stabilize the ankle and helps with mobility. So I'd def suggest getting it checked out as I think you shouldn't be in this much pain after a week.

Vegetarian On the topic of 'Honey' -- Jun 08 2009

Well, as far as I understand (I'm not vegan, been vegetarian for 15 years, but I started eating meat again), the whole point of veganism is not using animals for our own good. And while the bees don't die, they are not free. Plus, the keepers are influencing production, which is not natural and bees are not given  a choice.

Now, I won't tell you that the bees suffer, because I really don't know. The only thing I can say is that I wouldn't worry so much about labels and eat what you want. It's a personal choice and you don't owe anybody any kind of an explaination.

Fitness Working out for a month with no results on the scale yet!? Jun 06 2009

Try taking your measurements. When you start the program, you are losing fat but gaining muscle, so you might not notice it on the scale but if you measure your waist, you will notice the difference. My weight is the same for the last 3 weeks, but in that time I've lost 3 inches off my waist. So that really keeps me from getting frustrated.

Weight Loss Losing finger fat? Jun 06 2009

I never had fatty fingers, but since I gained weight, my wedding ring doesn't fit anymore. But even before, if I had salty meal, the water retention made wearing my ring uncomfortable. So, yes, I think the weight loss might be showing in your fingers. Yay!

Health & Support Had my calories for the day but still hungry.....what now? Jun 06 2009

I find that high grade foods keep me fuller for longer, so I try to eat only foods that are grade A or B. That way I can manage to keep them under my suggested 1900 calories, even if my diet profile says that I'm an excessive eater (and I am). I won't tell you that it's easy, if it was, I wouldn't be here, but I can manage it. But when I eat lower grade foods, I can spend half my calories in a meal and am looking for something else after an hour.

Plus, if you just started, it might be that your body needs to get used to the significantly lower amount of food. I was miserable at first - before I started watching what I eat, I could easily go through 4000 cals in a day, so to go back to 1900 was a big change. After about a week it gets easier.

Hope this helps and good luck!

Weight Loss I have gained 50 lbs in the last 2 years. Jun 06 2009

I don't know if this will be any help for you, but it's what changed the way I live  (and eat) completly. My weight's been up and down most of my life. When I got big, I'd slim down to look better, then gain it all (and more) back,... Some time ago my life has gone through major changes which affected everything I did and  I managed to gain over 35 lbs in TWO MONTHS.

I wanted to lose it again for vanity reasons, but realized I'm just not as vain as I used to be, looks are not as important to me, so no matter what I did, I couldn't get the weight off.

Then, my husband and I started talking about having children. I decided to read up on it and discovered many risks of overweight pregnancies. Seems like I received the ultimate motivation, because I know I couldn't forgive myself if anything went wrong. I decided to get slimmer and fitter and healthier before trying for a baby.

Since then, I've been excercising daily and I watch what I eat. I found it so much easier now, because I'm not doing it just for me, I'm doing it for my future baby. I discovered this site about a week ago and it's been a great help, since I had no idea about calories in foods and portion sizes. I realized I've been decieving myself, thinking I'm eating 'just some'. This site has been a wonderful reality check for me and a great addition to my motivation.

So, I'd say you need to find more concrete goal than 'I want to lose the weight'. Ask yourself why and what you're willing to put into it. I love food too much, I can't not eat, so I have to balance it with extra excercise. And I would suggest it to you as well, because in addition to helping out with weight loss, it's great for your allaround health. And I promise you, you will notice a confidence boost every time you manage to push yourself harder. And maybe you'll see that this boost can halp with getting your life back. Good luck!

Weight Loss Measurements? Jun 06 2009

I measure my waist size, always at the belly-button. And itt's a good thing, because in addition to waist size being important health deterrminator, it can also show you results when scale doesn't. For example, my weight has stayed the same for the past 3 weeks, but my waist shrunk 3 inches. So it keeps me from getting frustrated.

Weight Loss reduce the salt intake? why? Jun 05 2009

I used to be the same way - LOOOOOOVED salty, couldn't get enough. Until my doctor told me my bloodpressure is through the roof - at 27 years old! He told me to change my diet, also try to lose some weight, and if in two weeks won't see the difference, they'll put me on medication. This scared me. I cut salt out immediately and at first was very miserable. The food just didn't have any taste. But with time I got used to it and noticed that when I use cayenne peppers, they more than make up for the lack of salt. Plus they're way better for you. Now, if we eat out, I find most of the food too salty but my BP is back to almost normal. Still have plenty of weight to lose, but with that the BP will go back to healthy levels as well. It's really worth to suffer a bit in the beggining to take care of yourself in the long run.

Pregnancy & Parenting I love my pregnant butt Jun 05 2009

Well, I'm another one of the 'crack in the back' sufferers. I never had any ass, no matter how big or small I was. BUT! Since we moved to the new apartment, where I have to walk 5 floors up to get home, I started developing some ass. Mind you, I've been going to gym before, doing all possible ass excercises, but never got any. Now, since we moved, I gained weight, but it went all into my ass. So, I'm guessing stairs work.

I've read somewhere (but I'm not sure about it) that your body can change shape when you're pregnant due to the hormones changes, which means that your butt could stay even after you give birth and lose the weight. Keeping my fingers crossed for you!

Foods Full fat food vs Low fat/Fat free food? Jun 05 2009

I agree with your dietitian. Mostly because I learned from my own experience that low fat versions don't satisfy me. If, for example, I'm craving ice cream and have a small serving of my favorite one, I'm fine. But if I try to substitute it for a low fat version, I'm not satisfied and I keep searching and nibbling on other things that don't satisfy me until I get frustrated, go out and buy my fave ice cream and have it. So in the end, I consumed way more calories and spent way too much time obsessing over it for nothing.

Also, when I entered the nutrition facts for the yoghurt I eat - the full fat and the fat free version - while the full fat has almost twice the calories, it gets a grade B. The fat free version gets a C. So I prefer to have less of a good thing.

I think the quality is just as important as quantity. So I'm looking for high grades in foods I eat. I also noticed that these foods keep me fuller for way longer than low grade foods.

The Lounge 3 Day Rule...Or Something Else? Jun 05 2009

I'd suggest not waiting at all. Enjoy yourself and then if he calls, great. If he doesn't, oh well, at least you haven't spent your time waiting for it. I honestly don't think he'd ask for your number if he wasn't interested and I think a bit of game playing is excusable when you just meet someone. Or he could be waiting for a weekend to make some plans. either way, I wish you good luck.
