To me, health magazine is another one of those magazines that has a few good articles..but a lot of BS. I wouldn't believe it, if it was true then everyone should be taking coconut oil right? I wouldn't take that advise. Just keep eatin healthy and good old exercise is the real trick

That's the bad thing about bodybugg, it get's expensive. But there really is no other way to tell how many calories you burnt during the day unless you just use the tools on the site. I personally, even though Ive had friends that have had one, I think they are just not worth the money, but other posters are right, an actual heart rate monitor will not tell you calories burned throughout the day

When I started dieting I drank once a week, in excess, I managed to lose 30 lbs..now that I have stopped drinking, I broke my plateau so the drinking this is a bigger deal than more people think! but to the OP, my mom did the diet, lost 20 lbs..then gained it all back plus some when she ate normal food again, it sounds like you need to eat more anyways

I eat them once in a while. Actually probably once a week, or even twice! But I very much enjoy eating foods that I make and know exactly whats in them. You are correct though, everything is ok in moderation :)

I was 5' 9" and 195 lbs when I started..people never believed it..I had a friend say "NO you couldn't of been more than like..160!!" the taller you are the better some of that weight sits on you! But I also went from a DD to a C by losing 30 pounds. Now I have no trouble finding shirts anymore!

My relationship is just fine. My boyfriend supports me 100% in my weight loss journey and he knows that what I am doing is making me healthier..not giving me a reason to look better.  Maybe sit down with your boyfriend and explain WHY you want to lose weight.  That's what I did, and now I'm have his full support.

Try drinking warm liquids to calm cravings, if I drink a cup of hot tea it makes my "hunger" sensation go right away! Congratulations on quitting smoking. I did that 6 months ago and fell off the wagon big time, I still crave one from time to time but sugar free gum also helps with that one, only watch out for that stuff because it can upset your tummy.

Haha mcg87 that made my day, very very true! I drink at least 3 coke zero's a day..and coffee, and lots of caffiene and i used artificial sweetner. Soo what, I know it's not that great for me but you have to have SOMETHING

I don't think gluten free is a super good idea if it's not true allergy is it? Like it's not really a "lifestyle change" its just because your allergic

I quit cold turkey. Because I knew if I tried to cut back little by little it wouldn't stop..but I know for some people if they start cutting back to none then that works.

I forgot to add...at 5'6" and 106 pounds you are underweight..with a BMI of about 17.  I don't think you need to be worrying about calories at all.

It's really not a smart idea..anyone here will tell you that.  At your age you should be eating 1500 calories a day MINIMUM. You need to also have a more balanced diet instead of just fruits all of the time.  You could start by also having a real breakfast instead of just coffee.  Like i said, anyone here will tell you the same thing.

I can kinda relate I suppose. My parents were all for smaller portions when I was littler so it doesn't take me a lot to get full.  It's just hard when I have a room mate that would much rather go out to eat than sit at home and eat a nice cooked dinner. "your dinner has too many vegetables" she also won't eat the bread i make because it's "not processed enough" I kid you not..it doesn't have enough "fake" ingredients in it for her! It's ridiculous. I just sit back and laugh that I'm doing something good for my body when she and everyone else around me is not.

Say you eat 1500 cals a day, so you need to be burning 2500 cals a day to have a deficit, use the tools here, but I would say that losing 2 lbs a week usually doesn't work as like the previous poster said, for larger people try doing a deficit of 700-750 a day instead of 1000, sometimes you lose more than you think. Don't be discouraged though if it doesn't go exactly as planned.

I tell ya, when I go home after a long night of dancing..in heels..I feel like I've burnt about that much so I would say keep enjoyin it! I don't drink so it really helps!

I had a prescription to take naproxen once a day for knee pain, after I stopped taking it I dropped 4 lbs in 2 weeks. So I would say it's definitely from the sodium in it!

I don't know if this matters to you or not, but I come from a family that has ALOT of farmer's and the collection of milk in eggs does in no way hurt the animal..Maybe use organic stuff if your really concerned about what the animals are being fed, but the food itself is collected in safe manners. Like Jane said, your health is the most important factor, and maybe talk to your mom about your struggle, I'm sure she can buy a few "non diet" items for you..

I don't know if you have made your decision yet but I work at a Perkins and there are plenty of good choices! Bowls of Fruit, Oatmeal, Dry Wheat toast, Veggie omelettes without cheese sub egg beaters or egg whites. Plenty of reasonable meals and you can substitue any potato side for fruit or dry english muffins as well!

Thanks everyone! I made a big batch last night and then tried the toaster oven idea this morning! It works alot better than the microwave..the microwave made them a LITTLE soggy and the toaster oven worked great!

I have no non-biased articles but I have heard that Stevia is a much safer alternative than Splenda..I'm sure it can cause an allergic reaction in some people which isn't anything doubtful, almost anything can cause an allergic reaction. I do believe though, that with all sweetners..artificial or "natural" as stevia calls itself, it can harm your body either way..but do I love it so..hmm
