so, i have a question. first, based on this description i would be an apple. but from measurements (waist to hip ratio) according to another website i'm more of a pear. my question is about the type of cardio i should be doing. i've read countless articles, blogs, web pages, blah blah blah that says the best way to burn fat is to incorporate intervals into cardio, which means getting out of breath. so how can intervals and moderate-paced-non-breath-losing cardio both be the way to burn fat? which am i better off doing? |

i'm new to posting on here, mostly i just read other's stories for inspiration but i figured why not share the moments i'v had the past few days and maybe inspire some one on my own. i was lucky enough to have a three-fer of moments the past few days. i hit a plateau about 3 months ago that i could just NOT break through, no matter what i did. i've been running intervals at the gym, but was always afraid to try distance running. well, after reading that intervals can make your calves big (mine are big enough thank you) i decided to set the speed to 4.5 and just see how long i could go. i went for a full half hour without getting tired, or winded. i even held a conversation with the girl on the elliptical in front of me. not only that but then friday, i went into a store to try on some shorts (the ones i have do not need to be unbuttoned to pull down, and frankly they sometimes come down on their own). those shorts are a 13 which i have almost always been since high school. I grabbed some 11's just to see and they were too big. i knew i needed a 9 but didn't have the time to go grab more pairs to try on. i haven't been a 9 in almost 10 years. my last moment came saturday. i stepped on the scale and screamed (nearly giving my bf a heart attack!) the scale not only dipped below that plateau mark, it was down almost 5 pounds. |
