Oh I forgot the one where someone has called earlier or the day before and left a message for someone. They call back and want to fuss at you because their call has not been returned because surely if you had given them the message then Mr./Mrs. XYZ would have called them back by now! Yell

All I used to say was "Not only did I give them the message but I told them verbally that you called. I am sure they will call you back at their earliest convenience." If they persist in being a jackass then I politely replied "Do you really think that I have the power to make Mr./Mrs. XYZ call you back?" That usually shuts them up...as ifUndecided

It drives me NUTS when people ask how long someone will be on the phone. NUTS.

Or when they ask you to interrupt a meeting for them. If you want them so bad, you can interrupt!

I love it when they yell at you and then say "I know it's not your fault."

And god help you if you work anywhere near a copier (especially since the copier next to me SHOWS WHERE THE JAM IS).

These are great.

Oh yeah I forgot all of the copier and printer jams that they will just walk off and leave. At least tell somebody it's jammed if you're too dumb to read and follow the detailed instructions and un-jam it!Yell But the kicker is when you are fixing it and they want to come give you advice. I kindly say "I know how to follow the instructions but if you think that you can do it better, do you want to fix it?" and of course they are like "oh no no". Laughing

that sucks you got duped change! hope you can get out of there soon!

just thought of another thing i loved about answering phones. people who assume you answering the phone means you are the switchboard to the entire city.

Me: Good afternoon, {insert my work's name}.

them: uhhh hi, is this Bruno's Pizza?

me: nooo, this is {insert my work's name}.

them: oh...well do you know the number for Bruno's Pizza?

me: *face palm*

Once i had a woman call and ask for someone who did not work at my office, which at the time only have about 45 people, i knew them all.

She was like "well, THIS is Dr. So and So, and THIS is the number i have for Person-who-does-not-work-here. are you SURE he's not there?"

i told her i was sure.

she said "well, can you at least CHECK?"

apparently the thought that maybe she'd dialed incorrectly never crossed her brilliant doctor's brain, so instead she was horribly rude to me.

Jules it feels like we have worked in the same places. I've had the switchboard thing happen and the can you at least check incidents too. I can laugh now but at the time I replied "sir/maam I am sure you can find that number in the phonebook, have a good day (click)"  and "sir/maam I have the list of employees right in front of me so I don't have to check. I would not lie to you about whether that person works here or not, so have a good day (phone slam)".

I had one guy call asking about a copy of some article (I worked for an insurance broker). Keep in mind I answered the phone with the company name so it took me a while to realize the dimwit had the wrong number. By that time he huffs "your customer service is horrible" to which I replied "sir this is NOT the newspaper (phone slam)"...

I hope so. I thnk that I will have to move to get to where I want to be. SC just does not have a lot of jobs and the ones they do have, the companies are poorly run because they bring in relatives/firends instead of the most qualified people.

I had looked at moving back to DC but I left that area for a reason. Charlotte NC is only an hour away but for some reason I don' want to live there or even in Atlanta which is 3 hours away. Weight Loss Weight and stress? Oct 02 2009
18:08 (UTC)

Women tend to retain water. Also stress can effect your bowel movements. So you may need to evaluate those areas.

If you are drinking enough water, try taking hot baths several times a week as that helps with water retention. Also watch your sodium intake because that cause water retention as well. You'd be surprised at how much sodium normal/everyday foods (not necessarily viewed as bad for you) contain.

If your bowel movements aren't regular, you may need to add more fiber to your diet. Metamucil is good, along with oatmeal and other cereals. Of course with a high fiber diet you definitely need to drink tons of water (usually more than the recommended daily amount)

How is your water intake? Not drinking enough will cause your body to hold onto what water it has so then you have "water weight" to deal with.

whenever someone talks about being attractive,it pisses gi-jane off  for some reason.

And then she goes on about how that person is going to develop an eating disorder

Undecided

gi-jane's post did not seem negative at all. I think it is a red flag if someone doesn't love themselves all the way through their journey to a healthy weight. Love of Self = Self Preservation so that is motivation to continue with a healthy lifestyle.

If you want to obsess over being "perfect" that is fine for YOU. If you feel you are going about it the right way then there is no need to be so defensive. There is nothing wrong with striving for perfection. However; everyone's definition of "perfect" is different so everyone will not follow the same path.

If you do some research you will find that you can eat 2000+ calories and still lose weight based on your activity level.

Here's a tip for those that struggle with water weight. Of course drink tons of water but also take hot baths several times a week! Remember when you took baths as a child as was fascinated when you toes and fingers got "wrinkly"? Well you lose water weight when you soak in a hot bath for at least 15 mins. Weigh yourself before and after. I have lost from .8 -1.8 lbs just from taking a bath Wink

I am only getting compliments now. I may get concern once I hit my BMI weight as that will have me back at what I weighed in 1998. That is why I am making sure that I keep as much of my curves as possible and have muscle definition.

If your weight loss is from living a healthy lifestyle then the perfect response is "my doctor says I'm SUPER - healthy" and leave it at that.

Depending on their personality, your weightloss will be a motivator or deflator to people. Some will say well I can walk and eat healthier too. Those that make negative comments probably always have something negative to say. As for the co-worker who blew on you, better you than me. With all the hoopla about the swine flu, they would have got their feelings hurt!Yell

I watched the President's speech last night. He did a great job! In my 37 years of life; I have sat through several different Presidential addresses to Congress. I was always taught to respect the "office" of the president regardless of if I agreed with their policies. NEVER have I witnessed the blatant disrespect that was shown to President Obama by Rep. Wilson (R - SC). HOW DARE HE SHOUT OUT AT THE PRESIDENT "YOU LIE"?!? Before last night I had no idea who this "goober" was. This is not about policy. It's about the Republican party being completely out of touch with the working class. Instead of taking care of the interests of their constituents they just line their pockets and the pockets of their rich friends in various industries (AG, Haliburton, United Healthcare, etc. ectc. etc....) Here's a thought...TAKE CARE OF YOUR STATES!

I am really fed up with the state of SC right now. I mean I was mostly raised in NC. We had Sen. Jesse Helms (an admitted racist) for years as a senator. However; NC was never as low in rankings regarding jobs/education but SC has stayed in the top 10 as long as I can remember. At least Sen. Helms actually took care of his state. His office even stepped in when the VA was making my dad jump through hoops to "prove" his duty related disability. There are some great colleges here but now I truly understand why most of the college educated people from SC leave the state after they graduate. There are so few opportunities here and the few that there are; well, those jobs go to family members and friends regardless of their education or qualifications. At my last job, the manager over our Billing Department was a waitress at the Waffle House prior to getting that job. WTF?!?Yell Where I work now most of the people don't have degrees. When they find out that I have a degree and 14 years of work experience they get a funny look on their face because the position that I am in is not fully utilizing my skill set.

I had hoped to settle here as I do consider it my "home" state and have lots of family here. After 3+ years of the "Good Ole Boy" system, I am seriously considering moving. At least it seems that I will be able to have health insurance in the future as I don't even have that right now in the great state of SC (and I contract at a health insurance company - one of the Big 5)!

There are plenty of jobs out there, most people just don't have the required skills. That's why I am looking at going back to school for Database Administration. excuse me change in sc...but i am not lazy nor cheap. and i do know how to apply makeup. i just dont care to wear it.  i am 41 years old and look 30 because i dont cake my face everyday with make up. how dare you call woman that dont wear make up cheap or lazy. i have more money than you will see in your lifetime or your kids and grandkids lifetime. i have had 3 kids and still can walk down the street and have a man whistle at me. i have a figure of 36-26-36 so no i am not lazy. i a m constantly doing something with my kids. and yes i have time to put on make up. i just choose not to. i wash my face EVERY morning and night. i drink water and milk. and nothing else. i do not smoke or do any kind of drug what so ever and i get plenty of rest. so the next time you want to put down a woman for not wearing make up?? take a good look at your self. and ask your self why YOU are so insecure that ou have to wear make up. or just look down and ask how in the world you can put some one down when your ass is so big!!

You obviously did not read my entire post as I did not call all women that don't wear makeup cheap or lazy. I said that most of the ones that I have encountered (meaning had a conversation with) admitted being that way about makeup.

I don't wear makeup everyday. I don't have to. I am all about taking care of your skin first and foremost, as I said less is more. But when a special occasion rolls around I don't have to worry about getting all dolled up because I know what I am doing.

I hate when people have nothing intelligent to add to the conversation so they revert to childish name calling! I hope that is not how you are teaching your 3 kids to handle disagreements. How do you know how much money I do or don't have? If you have as much money as you say you do then you should at least know how to spell and punctuate.

I guess you calling me "big ass" is supposed to hurt me? Laughing ROFL...whatever chick! I have lost 22 lbs in the last 13 weeks and am still going. 1. Most of the women that I encounter that don't wear makeup say they don't because they don't know how to apply it properly. UndecidedFar be it for them to "learn" how from a make-up artist. You can get a lesson at any department store make-up counter. Most require a purchase but you can buy one item such as lip gloss and it would count. You can also see makeup artists apply makeup or view pictures on most of the major lines websites (Bobbi Brown, Smashbox, MAC, Cover Girl, Revlon, etc.).

In 2002 I purchased a full set of MAC makeup brushes. A girlfriend of mine who worked at MAC also worked at a salon as an Esthetician. She gave individual makeup application "classes". So I paid and had her teach me how to use each one. The top things that she stressed was 1. Skincare, 2. Arch/Trim your eyebrows and fill them in if they are sparse, 3. Curl your lashes (I am still working on #3 as I want a heated lash curler)

2. A lot of women are lazy, cheap, or both when it comes to things like makeup and skincare. They won't research different products to find what will work best for them. They will try what their friends use which may not be right for them. Also some won't wash their faces, drink water, stop smoking, or get enough rest. I have a girlfriend who at the age of 24 was talking about getting Botox! She was amazed at how much water I drink and the fact that I wash my face EVERY morning and night. She drank soda everyday and although she washed her face in the morning, she did not always wash it at night. I told her if she keeps doing that then she WILL need Botox.

Personally I view it as an investment in myself. The only cheap makeup I buy is mascara as I prefer Maybelline or Rimmel. They make me look like I have on falsies! However, while the department store brands aren't worth the extra cost to me for mascara, I am willing to pay more for any product that will actually touch my skin as I am "sensitive". I only wear MAC foundation or powder as they have more color choices for women of color. Cheaper brands can make you look orange or ashen.

Most days I wear just mascara and lipstick and/gloss. It makes me feel and look "pulled" together. However; for special occasions I will apply color with emphasis on my eyes and I always get compliments. Now everybody wants me to do their makeup! My sister even asked me to do hers for her wedding...I refused because she was being a "bridezilla" but that's another topic LOL

Most women that you think don't have on any makeup (i.e. natural beauties) are actually wearing makeup. SurprisedThey just know how to apply it properly. If applied properly makeup should make you look YOUNGER! Makeup is supposed to enhance what you have; not cover it up...less is more!!!Kiss

The queen is kinda nuts in a weird funny way...other than the bromance sprouting up, last night's episode was insubstantial. I need more info re the egg.

Was Tara saying she had to save 'eggs' ?

Tara was saying that he had to save her boyfriend "Eggs" Benedict.  The egg in the nest was something new, have no idea where they are going with that.

I can't believe Tara's mother let her "guilt" her into going back to that house. Tara was just being stupid. It's not like she could "do" anything to Maryanne.

I don't know why Sookie screamed after she saw Lafayette under Maryanne's spell. It's not like she hadn't seen others like that before. Besides, what did she and Lafayette think that they could do once they got there? WHY DIDN'T THEY WAIT FOR BILL?!? Now he has to deal with Maryanne AND get all of them out of there.

I have to acknowledge the passing of Sen. Ted Kennedy. He was not a perfect man and he had many indiscetions but he spent his career fighting for ALL working class Americans even though he came from privilege. He was a key component in the Civil Rights movement. I teared up yesterday because he really impacted the lives of millions.

My fiance said that when he worked on Capitol Hill a lot of Senators would not speak to him or they would speak and keep walking. I mean seriously, you can't speak to a man in uniform that obeys the directives that your legislation passes? Anyway, he said one day Sen. Kennedy came up to him, shook his hand, and engaged him in a 20 min. conversation. That was the kind of person that he was. I pray for his family during their time of grief. I hope that his passing is the spark that lights a fire under Congress to honor his legacy and finally reform healthcare in this country.

One of the definitions of the word "tolerate" is "to put up with something". You don't have to change your mindset in order to "tolerate" something or someone. I never understood why people use that word when referring to Equal/Civil rights. My parents both grew up in the segregated South and they taught us that you don't "tolerate" people, you "respect" their right to exist and live the way they want to.

Too often I see people that have grown tired of "tolerating" others as it is not something that most can do forever. They are usually in handcuffs or on trial...

I don't see how Sookie can still be so naive after all that has happened. With her being able to read people's minds, she should know WAY more than she does.

I like Bill and Hoyt because they are true Southern Gentlemen. Well I am from the South so I am probably biased. Neither one is a looker but I love how they treat their women. Loyalty is way underrated. I also love to hear them talk especially when they are angry. I was cracking up after Loyt told his mama that he was a grown azz man and then snatched up half the sandwich that she made himLaughing

It is crazy but even in his makeup Lafayette is SEXY! I know they kill him off in the book but if they do in the series, I don't think I could watch it anymore Cry

Eric is gorgeous but I am not a fan because I hate manipulative people. If he couldn't get Sookie on his own then he should have accepted it and moved on. However, Sookie is a twit for falling for his "con".

I also don't like Lorena for the same reason as Eric. I am so glad that Godric checked her bony butt! She really looked pathetic. Seriously, Bill is not all that and if he doesn't want you then move on!
