I never thought of my tummy resembling Freddy Krueger, but now that you've said that I can totally relate! My lower belly looks like a war zone, but everything around it is nice. I've tried everything to get rid of it but no success as of yet. I'm hoping once I've lost this last 15 lbs it might shrink some... If not, I consider them battle scars. After all, I cooked a baby in there! |

Original Post by personaltrainer87: Not to be critical, but just because you don't like the word, doesn't make it stupid or a poor choice of words. It's up to the context of the word and who's using it, as well as who is receiving it. Some will find it insulting and some won't. I don't agree with your "thick = not thin" and "I think most women do not WANT some one to remind them that they are indeed, not thin." This is assuming that most women WANT to be thin. I don't. Thin, think, curvy, healthy, blah blah blah. I want to be HEALTHY. I work to be HEALTHY. I don't work to be thin. |

First of all, you don't NEED to be anything. I agree with the above poster that the way to go is toning, not worrying about the scale or some perfect #. The scale isn't the end all, be all of happiness in life. How old are you by the way?

My two cents on it is that guys can call me whatever they want. I've gotten thick, curvacious, and all sorts of other, not stick thin but good looking compliments. Do I take thick as a compliment, darn right I do. I'm never going to rail thin, I don't want to be. I like my hips and booty and bust. I want to keep them thank you very much! Lol. Hence, some guys are always going to call me thick. I love me, and I have no problem accepting a compliment, even if it isn't phrased so well! |

I don't really have a pattern of exercise! I know it sounds terrible, but I don't. My 3 yr old doesn't really understand that and by betime, I just don't have the extra energy. It might seem silly, but I get the most exercise by dancing with my daughter! She loves it and it's fun. That and we spend longer in the pool, and running around outside. Nothing set though. I do what I can, when I find time, but it isn't oftern! |

| Health & Support | Some can recover and some can't? | Jul 02 2009 15:56 (UTC) |
10 |
It depends on your definiton of recovery. If you define it as never having disordered thoughts, or having a "normal" relationship with food, then not everyone can recover. I'm one of them that won't by that definition. Do I still have disordered thoughts? Yes. Do I have a good relationship with food? Most of the time. I don't feel the need to have the micro-control over what I eat. Do I consider myself recovered? Of course I do. I am in control. I am happy. And on the bad days, that's what I repeat to myself. |

| Health & Support | Is there anyone out there who was bulimic yet massively overweight? | Jul 01 2009 17:30 (UTC) |
|
First of all, way to go irishmum! That's great you could overcome it! I can't say that I've completely beaten mine. I was never massively overweight, but I've always been right on the borderline of average/overweight. I don't purge everything, I don't purge when I overeat, but there is a fierce battle going on in my head in order to keep it that way sometimes. And my mind doesn't always win the battle. It's not that I want to purge, because I feel guilty afterward, but I get so anxious about it, I psyche myself out and I don't even have to make it come up, it just does. The last time was a salad. Yes, I psyched myself out over a salad. It was horrible and when it happens, I can't help but cry. But most of the time, it's not like that. Do I have a problem eating? No. The fullness factor is what I can't stand. I've learned portion control and am able to say "No, I'm full". So, yay for me I suppose! |

Wow, I definitely don't think a 10yr old child fighting with her sister warrants arrest. In my opinion, if the parents weren't present, then the child should have been escorted home, or to the place they were staying, and let the adults sort it out. Do I realize some parents wouldn't care? Yes, I certianly do. However, that isn't something that should be automatically assumed, and this is a matter for parents, not law enforcement. |

I love long hair on women. I'm biased though, my hair comes down to about 1in above my belt. In my experience, both men and women love my hair. It's healthy, long, and blonde. I've only had the urge to cut it twice, but haven't taken more than 3 inches off in about 11 years! Alot of my friends cut their hair off after they had kids, claiming it was less maintenance. They spend more time doing their hair then I do! I agree that you should pick a style that works for you, not what someone else likes! |

My scale at home stayed the same, and my scale at work had me 2 lbs down. I'll just decided to stay in the middle. lol 7/22 edit - It's about time I got under 140! All last week I was sitting at 140 on the dot first thing in the morning. A little less by the end of the day. But this morning I was at 137. Finally. 5 lbs down since the beginning of July and 13 lbs down total! WOO HOO! 7/29 edit - So the last weigh in for this challenge and I ended losing a whole 1 lb. That's not at all what I was aiming for. Hmmm. Maybe it TTOM? I don't know. I was at 136 since Fri, and now 3 lbs up. Oh well. At least I lost a 1 lb! |

So today was a pretty good day. I went for a walk, not a long one but it was something. When the heat index is 110', too much outside just isn't healthy! I went over by not too much today, so I'm pretty happy! Mid-Morning Snack: 1 cup Honey Nut Cheerios (dry), small apple Lunch: 1/2 med red bell pepper w/ 1 tbsp Neufchatel cream cheese and 1 tbsp hummus & Veggie Pot Pie Dinner: Spaghetti & Meatballs. 1 cup spaghetti, 4 tbsp Prego 100% Natural Sauce, 6 meatballs and 2 pieces garlic toast! I am definitely full. Keep up the good work everybody! |

Original Post by imcoolsoni: imcoolsoni, I don't know if you're a big fan of soup, or kale, but this is a great recipe I found that is really yummy! I don't add the lemon at the end though, and I do less red pepper flakes. It's got a good kick and I always add extra veggies, mushrooms mostly. I hope you like it! KALE, WHITE BEAN AND POTATO SOUP Serves 4 Prep time: 15 minutes Cook time: 25 minutes 1 tablespoon olive oil 1 medium red onion, thinly sliced 1 clove garlic, chopped 4 cups low-sodium vegetable broth 1 teaspoon sherry vinegar 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes 1 cup canned white beans, drained and rinsed 1 cup diced carrots 2 cups all-purpose potatoes, peeled and diced 2 cups kale, tough stems removed, cut into thin ribbons 4 lemon wedges* Heat olive oil in a large saucepan and saute the onion and garlic for 5 minutes, or until translucent. * Add vegetable broth, vinegar, salt, and red pepper flakes. Bring the mixture to a boil and add the white beans, carrots, potatoes, and kale. * Return to a boil, then reduce to medium heat. Cook for 15 minutes, or until vegetables are tender. * Ladle into individual soup bowls. Squeeze juice from lemon wedges into each. Serve with a green salad and crusty whole-grain bread. I can't do alot of dairy or starches either. Darn tummy hates me! And I don't do breakfast because I'm not usually hungry in the morning. If I am, I will eat t piece of fruit or something like that. My baby will be 3 mid july. Ever planned a princess/dinosaur party? It's definitly interesting. I can't wait to make her cake, but alas, I can't eat it! |

Original Post by water_never_dry: I only lose about 2-3 lbs per week. I don't train or anything like that. The majority of my exercise is walking some at work, and chasing after my 3yr old. I just don't eat alot of junk. Maybe once a week, but mostly it's raw veggies and proteins. I just ate a big salad for dinner with fresh mushrooms and celery and all that in it, total of 150 cal w/ dressing. So that brings today to 624 cal. I need to eat more calories, I know, any idea where to fit them in without the junk? |

Okay, so I don't eat breakfast, I know it's horrible, but not something I like to do. lol Mid-Morning Snack: 1/2 Everything Bagel w/ Lite Cream Cheese 1 slice cheese 1 cracker w/ red pepper hummus Lunch: 2 cups prepared salad mix 3/4 cup honey nut cheerios Dinner: I don't know yet... I currently eat anywhere between 900-1200 cal a day. Alot of times, I have to remember to eat because I don't get hungry very often, and I don't really snack. My mid-morning is like breakfast. Dinner is usually some sort of grilled protein and a veggie. Oh yeah! Exercise: 1.5 swimming w/ my daughter & 45 min Tae Bo!
