| Fitness | Recommendation for a workout dvd? | Nov 10 2009 18:07 (UTC) |

I am in the UK - but I find the "Davina McCall" dvds to be excellent and I have lost a total of 9.2kg (20.2lb) since starting them in May, obviously alongside a sensible eating plan and regular calorie counting through the food logs. I am not sure if you can buy them in the US (I'm guessing you are in the US?) But you could check out Amazon and they would probably ship them. I hope this helps! |

Thanks for your replies so far - this is helpful. To the questions: makphl - it is the end of week 1 in my cycle. I did indeed notice quite a big weight drop (well, 2 pounds in a week) when I got my period, and now the gain last week was rather a shock as I wasn't sure where I was going wrong. At the moment, I try to be disciplined and only weigh myself once a week, though I sometimes "sneak in" a weigh-in mid-week as I am curious to know how I am doing! I don't know whether or not it would be better to weigh myself every day, but I have heard that it is better to do it once a week when trying to lose weight. tealparadise - I have set my activity level at "Light Activity" though I think sometimes it is verging on "moderate". I don't go out to work but am a stay-at-home mother to my 18 month old daughter. I work out about 5 times a week, between 30 and 60 minutes each session, which is why I set the level at "light" rather than "moderate", initially. Not sure what your thoughts are on this? maja11 - would you like to buddy up and encourage each other? As you mentioned in your post, we have similar measurements and goals. My main reason for wanting to get down to 54-58 kg is to regain my pre-pregnancy figure (I'm hoping this is possible Would be good to hear from you - thanks, Karen |

Just wanted to thank you all for your comments and suggestions! I think there must have been a bug in it that day, as all my inputs have been switched back to either A, A- or B+ now and the overall grades for each day are back to As. I think perhaps there was something wrong with the site at that point. auntbubba - I am entering my weight on a weekly basis, and it has been going down for the past three weeks. I have noticed that straight after I enter my new weight, the Calorie Coach shifts the date forward again. During the week (i.e. when I am not entering my weight) it shifts back all the time. So maybe it is affected by calories and activites then "updates" itself once the system has new data, i.e. a new weight. Not sure on this one. prinzessin_naseimbuch - I have noticed the same as you, that the goal date changes each time you enter your weight in the log. I also just use it as a rough guideline and am not too hung up about it. So long as I am losing, it is OK. Though I gained a bit last week and am not sure why Thanks both! Karen |

I am also looking for a buddy - not quite the same stats but similar - I am 5 ft 7 (169 cm) and currently weigh 141 lb (64 kg) but my goal weight to begin with is 130 lb (58 kg) although I would like to lose even more if possible - thought I would start with this goal and see how it goes! I am 30 years old, mother of one daughter (Elizabeth, who is 17 months). Anyone who would like to buddy, I would love to hear from you - thanks!!!

Hi, my name is Karen and I'm new to Calorie Count. I have been finding it really helpful so far - particularly the daily analysis of my food diary and the percentages of each food group I have been eating/should be eating... Quite an eye-opener. I am also looking for a buddy, if anyone would like to be encouraged and be an encouragement also - I think the motivation would help me as I can certainly identify with Jamie, who said she finds it tough to get motivated! I also have a weakness for sweet things and chocolate I gave birth 17 months ago and have been finding it really tough to shift the "post baby" weight, particularly around the abs/tummy area, where I have flab I never had before and it is getting me down. I am 169 cm tall and currently weigh 64 kg, though my goal weight is between 54-56 kg (what I weighed pre-baby). I am exercising every day and trying to keep a closer count on what I eat, but would appreciate the support! Thanks everyone |
