Hi, i too am quite new to this.  I'm 27 and from the UK.  I weight 166 pounds.  I don't really have an ideal weight, more of a dress size.  I have been doing body combat (aerobic kick boxing and karate etc.) and body jam (aerobic dance).  I would love to be your weight loss buddy... we need all the encouragement we can get and who best that others in the same boat x

I too grew up with the motto, "you have to clean your plate."  I don't think that my parents taught me bad habits.  The did what they thought was best at the time, and besides, we were too poor to waste food or be fussy, what they preached at the time was right at the time.  I was never a fat kid, that has happened since i left home.  I believe that to successfully lose weight you need to take responsibility for your own actions.  There are a million and one reasons for being over weight and just the same amount of excuses of people to blame.  I am the person who made me fat, i had nothing to stop me and an income to pay for it.  I'm 100 percent responsible for it getting there and i'm responsible for getting rid of it... if i ever do.  Oh... did i mention that it's also cause being big boned runs in my family...

My dream body would be beyonce, she has a nice small waist, but a lovely curvacious bum and thighs to die for... still dreaming, lol.  Realisticaly i'd be happy with being able to look down at my breasts and not see my tummy poking out further than them!!!  Most of us have people we aspire to when it comes to body image and there is nothing wrong with that, lets face it, none of us would be on this site otherwise, those who are bigger OR maintaining... we wouldn't know what was seen as normal otherwise and we'd all be happy the way we were.  This is the real world and i agree that we should all be grateful for being reasonably healthy and breathing as there are always others worse off, but that aside, we have to live with ourselves and what effects our lives and a little fantasy and an idea of what to strive for is good and healthy physically and mentally!
