I had a few unavoidable things come up on me in this last week in november and was only about to complete about 15 miles of my extra 30. I feel bad having to type this cause I have never missed a workout goal before. But I guess this is the one time it happened and the ONLY time it will happen.

At least I was featured in the Success Story Blog today. that was a bit of a pick me up.

Congratulations everybody. Lets make December the best month as we save the best for last.

Pregnancy & Parenting Nursing in public- your opinion Nov 17 2009
20:19 (UTC)

The problem with nursing in public isn't even the nursing. It's people perception of what breasts are. No longer do we consider the breasts some that gives a new born baby nourishment and life giving nutrients, but we now think of breasts as organs used for sexual reason and for that reason only. That's why most people are infuriated to see a woman breast feed  their baby in public.

People need to stop acting like little children that doesn't know the difference between a man performing a sexual act and a baby having a meal.

Breast feed all you want ladies, do it where ever you like.

just yesterday I was saying the same thing. I'm going broke buying new clothes. I have to completely change my entire wardrobe. I mean everything down to my socks. Everything is too big.

When I was fat I had loads of money now I'm spending hundreds of dollars a week trying to find clothes that fit.

Weight Loss How do you do it! ? :O o.O Nov 07 2009
00:51 (UTC)

when I decided to lose weight it was like everything was coming at me all at once. a few people died from weight related issues, I was constantly feeling sick, people would always make fun of me in front of my face which led to me having very low self esteem.

The final push for me came when my sister promised to get me a gift if I lost 8 pounds. I figured I could parley that 8 into the 50 I needed to get my BMI to normal and try to fix all the wrongs in my life that being obese and overweight was the cause of and now I'm at 70 pounds lost.

When ever I got the feeling of I don't wanna do this anymore I always remind myself that I need to do it for me and a healthier life.

First week stats for me:

I completely underestimated my running abilities. Since it gets darker quick now I have decided to try running 5 miles out of the 6 miles that make up the complete loop of road that extends from my house to the track and back. Something I call my "pseudo-track".I thought I wouldn't be able to do it but to my amazement I did it 5 times in a row this week. SO after I'm done wwith my 75 mile goal I will tack on maybe 50 or another 75. Anyhow....

Rancho is a machine. A MACHINE I TELL YA. Keeping up with him is a goal all in itself.

I said I'll only do 75 miles this month but I think I will up that cause I can put in more miles than I thought.

I might be a bit weird but I always eat half of my food (no special technique) then rest for 10 minutes then return to the plate. I find when I do this I get to the point where I'm full faster and most time I can't even finish the last half of food I got there.

Weight Loss Can I ask a really dumb ? Oct 09 2009

Original Post by gi-jane:

I'd suggest that you go back to the CC calculator and input a realistic average activity level.  If you get half an hour a day... 'light'... if it's over half an hour and/or particularly strenuous... 'moderate'... .and so on.   That will give you one big number to aim for and then there's much less guesswork.

(If you do a lot more exercise over and above your usual average then only log the extra separately.... and eat a little more to compensate)

And then plan your day out in advance rather than logging it after the event.... this is just so you can get an idea of how much food you really need.  If it turns out that for weight-loss you need a steady 2200 cals, for example, then you could aim for a 500 cal breakfast, 600 cal lunch, 700 cal supper and 400 cals in snacks.  Breaking it down like that can mean you're getting a nice stready intake and.... like feeding a fire regularly.... your body burns energy that bit more efficiently.

So going by this what should I have mine on? It's currently set to sedentary (2030 daily). But I run at least 8 miles no more than 10 miles a day 5 days a week. That's anywhere from 1000 to 1200 calorie burn. I always just entered in my activity and eat based on that.

What should I put mine at?

(sorry if this is considered a hijack, I didn't mean too)

Weight Loss experience with artificial sweeteners Sep 30 2009
00:48 (UTC)
6

I have lost weight after STARTING on artificial sweeteners. I used to put 7 tsps of granulated cane sugar in my tea every morning for 6 days a week. When I started losing weight i switched to 4 packets of splenda and haven't and will not look back.

I notice no differences in craving for sweets or any type of hunger pangs other than what I used to feel before I started losing weight.

Also I have switched to coke zero and I notice no change AT ALL.

okay so i guess it not humanly possible for random person on this entire earth to run a good time for 6 miles and be telling the truthSmile. i understand and with that the mind is a power full thing giving anyone the ability to do what they want and to exceed ppl expectation

i agree with you. but my problem is you are running faster than a world record holder, you should get your props and accolades for what you have accomplished. If you can run that fast enter in a race or something like the 1 hour race and have your achivements recorded.

And no I'm not being sarcastic I'm sincerly saying you should have your name in the record books.

Fitness how fast can/should I run? Sep 28 2009

lets see: (my math sucks)

60 (minutes) / 25 (minutes) = 2.4 (mph multiplier)

6 (miles) * 2.4 = 14.4 Mph (hey242 runs 14.4 miles in one hour)

14.4 Mph = 23.17 kph (hey242 runs 23.17 kilometers in one hour)

the current world record for The Hour Run race is:

21285m (21.2 kilometers in one hour) set by Haile Gebrselassie of Ethiopia on June 27th, 2007.

So by this tiny bit of research hey242 runs much faster than the current world record holder. Someone needs to call guiness

this is the reason I have started doing HIIT along with my usual distance running. 2x 5k @ 26 minutes each for regular running training (trying to get faster) and 30 minutes of HIIT (running fast 12mph for 30 secs at a time) for fat burning cardio. Gotta get that intensity workout in there to do some real calorie burning.

I want the nike+ sportsband (watch thing) also cause I would rather use my zune to listen to my music and podcasts while I run.

With the sportsband I can have the exact same info uploaded to the nike+ website all without that pesky ipod.

niccole. You should be able to upload your workout data with itunes but I think you need to register an account with nikerunning.com first becuase itunes uses your login info to send run data to the site.
