| Weight Loss | do I eat all the calories, even if I am not hungry? | Aug 23 2009 14:55 (UTC) |

If you don't feel hungry and have to force yourself to eat, eat higher calorie healthy foods. Throwing in a few high cal snacks in between meals. Pair a luna bar with a piece of fruit. Eat brown rice with dinner. You can do it |

I typically lose weight better on my own. I tried once to lose weight with one of my friends but it seemed we just brought each other down more then motivated one another. We would set dates for the gym, she would flake or I would flake. There were times she was around 20 minutes late which would just piss me off. When she got upset and would eat bad foods, I would be tempted. I think its all about finding the right person, a person who is in it for you as much as you are for yourself. I find blogging and logging my cals into a website is as good a diet buddy as any. |

| Weight Loss | NO Cardio To Lose Weight?? | Aug 15 2009 16:30 (UTC) |

There are so many articles and researchers out there contradicting each other that I just don't pay attention to what they say anymore. I go by what works for me. If you are losing weight with your 2 mile walk/jog then keep doing it. I honestly believe that it is pure B.S that cardio doesn't help you. I lost 30 pounds before doing Tae Bo and thats all cardio. Combined with a healthy low cal diet, cardio will definitely help you lose weight. |

I know how you feel! And its a horrible feeling. I had a great week and it took two days to ruin it all. I just ate all day anything I wanted and for once was too afraid to add up how much I had eaten. I have also been slacking in the exercise department. I love to exercise and love how it makes me feel, yet it still isnt' enough to make me want to exercise. I say we should stop feeling sorry for ourselves and just do it. I see this as me not caring and one's health is something to always care about. It should never be put on the back burner. We can do it!! |

| Foods | the great diet soda debate | Aug 11 2009 01:37 (UTC) |

I stopped drinking diet soda for my new years resolution this year...lasted 7 months. Then i drank a diet soda because i really wanted a cookie...but my point is that not drinking diet soda didn't help me lose weight at all. The only reason they say it will help you lose weight is because supposedly people who drink diet soda crave more sugar foods. However, if you can have self control then you can drink diet soda. As far as the artificial sweetener, its almost impossible to avoid those unless you go on a raw diet. Maybe cut down to one to two diet sodas a week instead of every day |

| Foods | Whole wheat bagels... good or bad? | Aug 11 2009 01:28 (UTC) |

Bagels are fine for you. If you are that concerned about the carb intake maybe eat half a bagel for breakfast with some eggs. That would definitely also stretch out your bagels...12 breakfasts instead of just 6. I dont see anything wrong with eating bagels. Its all about what works for you. If you can eat them and still lose weight, then eat away |

Green smoothies are awesome. You get so many nutrients and its super low cal. I normally blend 2 huge handfuls of spinach with water. Then i will add a frozen banana and then frozen berries. You cant even taste the spinach. It may sound gross but its really not. I have noticed a lot of great benefits since drinking them everyday |

| Weight Loss | How much damage ..? | Aug 09 2009 03:18 (UTC) |

Well, there is no way 3 desserts are going to put a layer of fat over your abs instantly. If you are eating these cheat meals and then burning off calories you will not gain weight. maybe water weight but not fat. you have to choke down some major calories for an extended amount of time to gain any weight. and i doubt you will allow that to happen, just from reading this post. |

| Weight Loss | I REALLY ATE TOO MUCH (sort of binged) HOW MUCH DAMAGE IS DONE?? | Aug 06 2009 17:10 (UTC) |

That wasn't a binge. Depending on what and how much you ate for breakfast and lunch...maybe you were really hungry. You have to eat 3500 calories extra then maintenance to gain a pound in a day so you are going to be fine. NO DAMAGE IS DONE |

My parents divorced when I was 7, and after that my dad went from bad to worse. He was 17 when I was born so I am pretty sure he never wanted me to begin with. Im 20 now and just now realized that I can't make him love me. I have cried over that man so many times wondering what it was I did wrong that made him not want to care. He has fed me so many lies and made so many empty promises its unreal. It is hard to stop loving your dad though. Its a horibble love/hate relationship. I just found out last week that it was him who told my mom just to take me and my sister and raise us. I was never told this so I constantly thought I did something wrong and he didn't love me. I think some of his intention was good but other then that I am sure he was just tired of messing around with the whole sharing custody of the kids schedule. He had to drive 30 min just to pick us up. But i also think that if you love your kids, then 30 min is totally worth it. I cried many times to my mom too and I am sure she felt guilt. Her approach to it all kind of bothered me though. She would tell me to just forget him and realize I have a great "father" in my stepdad but it doesn't work like that. Sure, my stepdad was nice but I wanted my real dad. I am sure it wont be easy for her or you but being there for her is the best thing you can do. Not talking crap about him also helps. Just having someone listen is all someone needs. Its one of those unfortunate situations where you realize someone isn't worth the trouble when you have already wasted so much time on them. Its horrible when a parent acts like that to thier kids. I have a hard time trusting guys in my relationships now because of my dad. I am so afraid of being hurt. All I can think of is how my dad didn't love me, so why should I expect someone else to? Its horrible and I hope to get over it. Stay strong |

I am trying to cut out sugar everywhere and realized yoplait light had a lot of sugar. So, I picked up Dannon Fat Free plain yogurt. I added some splenda to it because it tasted kinda sour like Fage yogurt. Ew, it was so gritty and gross. I couldn't finish it |

| Motivation | Night-time Eating is REALLY Preventing Progress | Jul 21 2009 05:52 (UTC) |
12 |
I find eating a huge breakfast and smaller meals as the day progresses does not work for me. My hunger stays about the same for every meal. So I can't suffice on 200 calories for dinner while I had 500 for breakfast. Night time eating has always been a huge problem for me. There is no magical cure to stop you from eating at night. It is self discipline and self control. I say, get yourself into a night time routine. Eat by a certain time and don't allow yourself to eat after a certain time. Set rules and never break them. And just because your boyfriend doesn't get off till 9 doesn't mean you have to eat dinner at that time. Settle for some flavored water or sparkling water. Something that will fill your tummy up and give you the full feeling. Make conversation so it doesnn't even become an issue you aren't eating with him. Also, maybe try making low cal foods to chomp on if you must eat at night. Sugar free jello, random chopped veggies with hummus or light salad dressing. Eat a plate of carrots, bell peppers, tomatoes, cucumbers etc and you won't feel hungry after a while. |

I want to eat everything in the pantry right now too. I live with my family, who arent here to stop me at the moment, so its stocked full of poptarts, cookies, honey buns, etc. And Im trying to break away from my bad habits. I wrote my weight on my hand, made some chicken with brown rice and vegetables and chugged a liter of water. Then I went to my room. Out of sight, out of mind. Once my food settles I am going to work out. Just gotta realize that a few moments of "pleasure" that is experienced from that unhealthy food isn't worth feeling like crap tomorrow. |

A huge salad filled with fresh vegetables and protein like chicken or tuna. You could probably add a side to that as well. And for a snack...whatever you feel like i guess with whatever amount of cals you have left. I like frozen fruit (slightly thawed) with cool whip. Or some cut up apples with light laughing cow cheese |

You can google calorie count calculators and it will pull up a bunch of websites that will take into account your height, weight, activity level, gender and give you a cal count for maintenance. Do some old fashioned subtracting...and you should get a number of cals to lose weight. Im not saying I dont trust this sites calculator, I just like diff opinions. I basically went to like ten of these calculators and got an average of how many cals I need. |

| Weight Loss | Is eating six meals a day really the answer? | Jul 11 2009 19:25 (UTC) |
16 |
I think its all about what works best for your body. A lot of people I know live by the six meals a day and I tried it too but my work and school schedule just doesn't allow me to do it everyday. Some people like 3 meals a day, some like 6 or 7. If it works for you then go for it, but I dont think its like a miracle weight loss rule. When I first lost 30 lbs I would eat breakfast at like 7 and then go to school till 3 and then eat lunch. Thats just what happened to work for me. There is no right answer. |

Its her weight loss journey, not yours. Until she asks for you help, if she ever does, I wouldn't say anything. It really isn't your place. If she is doing weight watchers I assume she isn't oblivious to the fact that spreads and sugar sodas arent healthy. Maybe she is going at her own pace trying to get rid of the bad things slowly but surely. |

| Weight Loss | Eat more on workout days? | Jul 11 2009 18:10 (UTC) |

I have personally never eaten more on workout days. I also dont really know how many cals i burn during an average workout. I just push myself to the max and go as long as I can. And I have lost weight just fine. Id say just eat reasonably. If your hungrier one workout day then eat some more. If you aren't then dont. Id say just take it day by day |

I went through a sweet potato stage for like six months where I had to have one every day...I somtimes ate it for breakfast if I wasn't able to have it for lunch. Granted I was maintaining...I didnt gain any weight so I doubt it would hinder you from losing weight. Just be realistic about the size of the potato. Sweet potatoes are awesome! Enjoy them |

Original Post by ds1973: Well if you are that uptight and have to be "all natural" every day of the year then dont eat morning star. It was a suggestion. But sometimes when you dont have time to cook they come in handy. And it wont kill you. Beef leads to other health problems as well. Everything in moderation |

Cut up tomatoes, baby carrots, bell peppers, cauliflower, broccoli...etc and dip in light italian dressing. Or add lettuce to that and just make a huge salad. Drink a lot of water with it. That fills me up pretty fast. Also, when Im hungry at night but dont want to eat I will drink flavored carbonated water. They sell them cheap, like 50 cents for a liter bottle. I of course only do this at night because those drinks make me feel bloated and full....gotta sleep it off. |

I eat around 1300 calories a day and its really not that hard. Your new at it so right now its like a big experiment. Instead of the leg/thigh try the breast of the chicken. White meat is less caloric. Also, instead of four small potatoes try a sweet potato. A medium one is around 200 cals I think. Or you could try to eat maybe 2 small potatoes and a side of broccoli. I also like eating salads for a meal. I mean lettuce has like next to nothing in calories. Add a bunch of veggies to it, some protein like chicken or cottage cheese and you will fill up fast. You could even add a side to that like a sweet potato or a fruit. |
