Oh my gosh ladies you'll never believe it lol I got home yesterday and found out ahh it's my TOTM! Not the best time of the month, but definitely a relief because now I know why my weight may not be moving as much and I can say that I am totally relieved. Hmm.. I will keep exercising and eat healthy. But I need help. I'm going on vacation for a week next Tuesday. It's going to be really hard to eat what I have to because I may not have the options I would normally have. Any recommendations?

Dimples-- Be careful with your weight loss. Try to do it the healthy way by changing your eating habits and throwing some exercise in there. Don't be discouraged if you gain a little back or don't lose as much this week because your body lost a lot this past week. Good luck with everything though! :]

Hey Ladies!

Hope yall are having a good week and staying determined. I didn't lose any weight this week but I didn't gain any either so that's definitely something to be thankful for. I've been eating my calories for the most part but slipping up here and there. I'm in the process of moving back home since my internship is over and I've got to eat what I have so sometimes I kinda have to throw things together to make my meal work. It might not be the best calories that I'm putting in my day. Oh well, I've exercised everyday for atleast 40 minutes which is wonderful! I rarely get to exercise as much as I want and I've really enjoyed it. Hopefully I'll wake up one day this morning and weight myself and I'll finally reach my goal weight for this week. I've noticed that I'm fluctuating in between my cw and my gw for this week. I hope you all had more success than I did this week and hopefully I'll have good news for yall in a few days! :]

P.s. new mini goal for Thanksgiving. I want to be 199. So this is my plan:

CW: 238

August: 228

September: 218

October: 208

Thanksgiving: 199!!! :]

Any ideas or suggestions?

Yay for weight in day! My weight has really fluctuated this week. I've stepped on the scale everyday and watched in go up and down in between my goal and where I am now. Any day now I'll wake up, step on the scale, and my weight will be down finally. That being said, I maintained my weight this week which means I didn't lose like I hoped but I didn't gain either! :] Hope you all did better than I did. Can't wait to hear of your success.

Well, I definitely hate it when guys do this and it's happened to me recently too. A guy that I've known since high school who has always been head over heels for me and loved me and all that stuff, goes off and get married with a girl that he's only known for a few weeks. I know this isn't exactly like your situation but I can relate.

I'm not really sure his reasoning for the change, but something's changed for him. Maybe someone else or just being distracted in general. Guys usually aren't too complicated but there are a few. Your best bet is to talk to him when you get the opportunity since they are far and few inbetween. Also, please try not to stress yourself out over him and the situation, I'm sure he's not doing the same and doesn't seem to be. Believe me this may be your first time experiencing this but it won't be the last. So learn from this experience. Good luck!

Fitness What are the different workout activities that you do? (Aside from the gym) Jul 28 2009

Latin Dancing (i.e. Salsa, Merengue)

Step Class

Kickboxing

I'd rather dance as cardio than do anything else really. It makes it go by wayyy faster and it doesn't even seem like exercise. It's more fun than anything else and can be interactive or done alone.

The Lounge How do I know if I can handle nursing? Jul 28 2009

I'm an aspiring nurse too but I've always had my heart set on medicine. I'll be a 3rd generation nurse in my family (my gma and mom were nurses) so I have big shoes to fill. It'll be my third year in school and I'll be entering the nursing school in January. That being said.. if you're unsure about Nursing you might want to find out before you get started. After doing just the prerequisite courses I watched friends change majors and drop out of classes because they could make the grades. There are also people out there who want to put in the hardwork and dedication but still can't pass the tests or make the grade. I have a lot of friends like that too. And it's always a competition. Atleast where I'm in school. Don't ever think it's not. As far as the job goes, it has to be something you'll love doing every day. Nursing is so versatile because you can go into any specialty you want. Maybe you could get your CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant/Nurse Aide) and see if you like that. The responsibilities they have are also the responsibilities that every nurse has. Good luck with everything and if you have any more questions, I'm definitely around to answer them. I wish I would've had someone around to tell me all of this.

Boooo! I'm not liking Tuesday. I'm getting anxious about getting this weight off. So today I'm doing 40 minutes of cardio with my roommate. A lot going on this week and it's throwing off my schedule. I'm trying to keep my food under control but I can only eat what's around and exercise may be hard to fit in. Maybe I'll be able to break it up.

Indyquilter: welcome to the group! To add someone to your buddy list you click on their name and on their profile page you can "add buddy." Weigh in day is Thursday and you could read through old posts for food suggestions and exercise help! Good luck :]

bexxeb: How'd your strength training go? A little sore today? That's a good sign :] I've got a huge watermelon in the fridge that I have yet to cut up from the weekend, but it's soooo sweet! Can't wait. I wish I could run a mile in 11 minutes.. last time a ran a mile was 6 years ago and i barely did it in 20 mins. What a shame right? Haven't run since then haha

pixie: It only last a week and it's half way over! Keep up the good work too.

azule: You're so right.. we don't know everything. I'm still learning that lesson and letting my pride not get a hold of me to admit when I'm wrong or don't know something. Knowledge is definitely power though. Don't get too discouraged on a 2400 calorie day.. that isn't going to kill you. Make up for it the next day since you can't make up for the past ya know.

The weekend was wonderful and I was almost terrified to step on the scale this morning. I ate out atleast once everyday and fell completely behind on my water and no idea what kind of calories I took in lol Oh well. I stepped on the scale this morning and opened my eyes to face the scale and I maintained my weight this weekend :] ahhhh... yay, right? I'm so happy you did well this weekend too. It can be a struggle sometimes. I go on vacation for a whole week next week.. any suggestions on how to maintain my weight and not go overboard? I prob wont have access to calorie count and it will be really hectic. It's not really vacation I'm actually going out to cali to help my family take care of their third baby girl with my little sister.

bexxeb: gonna try that strength training this week?

Thursday it is then :]

What are the skinny dippers? They sound interesting. I was reading a post today on another forum and a girl mentioned sugar free popsicles.. I'm sure they'd be a nice treat when you needed something cool and sweet without real sugar.

Also, I LOVE fresh fruit & vegetables and many of them are VERY low in calories and have several vitamins and minerals in them in one serving. Especially apples, bananas, grapes, carrots, broccoli, cauliflower, etc. I also like the 1/2 cups of Mott's unsweetened applesauce those are usually less than 100 calories too.. and no sugar added but still sweet because they are made from apples. I usually try to have a handful of nuts (almonds, sunflowers, etc.) with it though to feel satisfied longer and get in some protein or nonfat yogurt which are both less than 100 calories too (if haven't noticed I love 100 calories snacks and eat 5 meals a day). I also religiously eat Special K for breakfast with organic nonfat milk mmmm.. I have every kind of Special K you can imagine. That 10 day challenge they have inspired me and some days I do replace two meals with Special K to mix up my calories. OOO pretzel sticks and 100 cal popcorn are also really good snacks too.

Lastly, I recommend buying fresh products in bulk and bagging them up the night you buy them for the week. I know it's a lot of work but it really does help to grab and go.

And thanks for the bread recommendation.. I've been looking for a bread low in calories.. lowest I could find was 100 cals and that's still a lot per slice. Does the kind you buy have lots of fiber too?

I definitely think that if it's something that you're "expecting" then you should talk to him about. I've found that a guy who truly cares about you what mind changing things up a little bit. Plus it really is a little bit and not going out of the way to say please and thank you. Might even help him with other people too.. especially the older generation.

I've been wondering the same thing as you though. I've have ALWAYS been raised to say yes ma'am and yes sir.. I guess it really is a southern thing.. but now it's routine & a part of my life. I don't say uh huh, or yeah, or anything like that.. atleast not to someone older than me. But sometimes when I do say it, people are astonished by it and some even offended because they don't feel old enough to be regarded as ma'am or sir. Hmm... interesting right?

So I put my mind to it, cracked down and did my workouts for the last 3 days and ate below or at my calories! And I've LOST 2 LBS so far!!! Thank y'all for believing in me. I met my goal for the week and now for next week. Y'all really inspire me and I hope to get to that now 78 lb weight loss that I'm looking forward too. Keep in mind though that weight loss is just a side effect of becoming healthy :]

mikka_jd Welcome to the group! You'll find it very motivating and we're all here to support one another :] Congrats on the weight loss && keep it up girlie!

brownsug congratulations!! I know it looks small.. and I definitely know how that feels but doesn't it feel GREAT :] I've been tryin some weight training lately to alternate in between my days of cardio and it gives your body enough of a mixup to not hit a plateau or to jumpstart after a routine workout. Try a little and let me know what ya think.

lisaokafor3288 3 pounds! That's awesome and those sugar free popsicles sound delicious! I'm not even sure i knew that they made those and they would be a great snack i'm sure :] Anywayy.. keep up the good work && I'm sure that you'll reach your mingoal in no time.

Not doing to well right now keeping the eating under control. I've eaten out waaay to much lol but I'm going to get it under control. It's the evening times that keep messing me up and the laziness that prevents me from being productive and just cooking dinner. Oh well.. can't make up for the lost times & the screw ups but I can improve today. Not going to become discouraged because I do feel happier and I see my clothes becoming loose. Hey Ladies! This week has definitely been a struggle.. but not with food & exercise :) I hope all of you are doing well.. and it looks as though yall have all made some awesome progress! And welcome to all the new girls.. this group is very encouraging and all of us have the same goal to lose weight && make lifelong lifestyle changes!

wants2bhot:congrats girl! i'm glad the wedding went well & you looked beautiful in your dress. thanks for the encouragement i'm really trying to not let the numbers on the scales determine how good i feel about my successes and the way my body looks :)

lisaokafor3288: welcome girlie! this group is awesome. college is definitely a difficultly sometimes, but i feel as though it can be positive too. look at all the food and options you have that you pay for anyway so why not take advantage of it. i know its hard to get to the food around classes and social parts of college but hey, that's life too.. stay motivated and be healthy :)

cgygirl: hey hun! yay you've joined the group :) and yes, blahhh 2 lbs a week seems as though it'll take forever BUT we are on the same track and bringing down our weight together. so we'll definitely be support for one another. and with all those changes.. take it one day at a time and step by step.. being more active and sleeping more really takes motivation and TIME. so make sure you set it aside for yourself and you'll def start to feel better :)

angelic_princess: welcome back girlie! hmm.. it's never too late to get started & make lifestyle changes. now you have more motivation than ever and a great group to keep you encouraged and help you through the tough times. the health risks are definitely what keep me from putting certain things in my mouth and keep me exercising more. i dont want to be unhealthy or die at an early age and risk not being able to enjoy life at its fullest. so keep it up girl and we're here for ya!

harmonpl: this week has been great! started off rough with a few family things :-/ but i haven't let that get me off track. i've eaten out a few times and that has thrown me off but the scales says that i've lost 3 pounds :) yayyy! but nonetheless, slow & steady is best and i'll continue to stay on track and remember eating healthy and exercising is a long term change in my life that i'm ready to take. and oh my gosh!! congratulations! i can't wait until i see a 1. ahh i'm so excited for you and i know that must feel great! remember to keep it up and stay motivated girl! a few more pounds to go!

brownsug: keep ya head up girlie!! try not to think to hard over your numbers & more so about how you're feeling and what you're eating. i've definitely become discouraged with my numbers but i'm noticing the difference in the mirror and so are other people.. VERY SOON you'll have something to be proud of :)

YES! and they're awesome. I've always like the whole Taebo videos. I found a lot of them on YouTube :] Cardio will do it for you. 55 minutes is long enough too because it gets your heart rate up for a sustained 30 minutes (well more in this case). The boot camp videos help you work every part of your body. When I want to work out but not feel like I'm working out I do these videos! Good luck :]

harmonpl Thanks so much! I'm trying really hard not to become discouraged. In reality, it's only been two weeks so I can't lose all hope. I do feel better exercising with my roommate and picking healthier food choices. Hopefully the scale will start to reflect my hardwork! Hope all is going well with you too :] I'm eating about 1500-1700 calories since I burn about 2200 calories a day. That'll mean I have a 500 calorie deficit so I'm burning more than I eat. That should help boost my weight loss too without sending me into starvation mode.

Sooo.. I finally got my scale and stepped on and it told me I had gained 10 lbs. I was really worried because that's drastic. I changed my eating habits and exercise habits and I gained a lot of weight. So I decided to re-weight myself the next morning after my shower. The scale said I gained 4 lbs. I'm not completely discouraged but I was hoping that it would show a weight loss. I'm eating about 1500 calories a day and sometimes 1600. I figure this is okay because it should really be around 2000 probably. But AHHH! Anyone else have this problem when they first started. Maybe it's the muscle gain since I'm exercising again? And it takes time to build muscle so then you can burn the fat. I can tell a difference with my body though. I think I may be losing inches and maybe I should invest in a measuring tape and keep track of my numbers like that too. Anyone that has a word of advice let me know please...Undecided
