No, way. If I have a couple of bite sized Butterfingers tomorrow night they will be within my calories for the day. I like how things are going with the diet and I'm not willing to screw around too much for the sake of a kid's holiday. As for the next BIG holidays, I guarantee I'll have some of the goodies but I won't be risking the mind set and my progress by just excusing myself to "enjoy" holiday food to the tune of 3000 or more calories. I know, killjoy huh? |

I guess I don't see the difference between a Wednesday and a Saturday. I follow my program seven days a week. If I have a couple of slices of pizza and a few beers during the game on Sunday I add them into my calorie total and try to eat healthier the rest of the time. It's just easier for me to not go WAAAAAY overboard. Dave |

Howdy! Yeah it's tough making the required mental/emotional choices to start a healthy program. The good news is that it's VERY possible to do and there is definetly a pot of gold at the end of the weight loss rainbow. I started in May at 270 (6' tall), and I'm currently at 225 with a goal of hitting 192 by Spring, 199 by Christmas. The Calorie Count system is perfect for me and I find the tools easy to work with and quite educational. I live for the little rewards like wearing waist size 36 instead of 44 (and I think I was looking at buying some 46 trousers at one point!) Hang in there and best of luck to you! Dave |

Thanks! Yes, that makes sense but what a difference between the two dates. |

Yeah, that's funny though because on the goal weight I don't put a date, CC figures it out based on the calories counted...or, maybe it's about the calorie limit that I put in vs. the calories...OK, I just lost it. Thanks for the answer, though! |

I find that a reasonable response and overview. Thanks! |

I was really hoping someone had a more substantial answer to this question as I wonder about the same thing. I know grilling eliminates weight and fat from meats more than any skillet method. How much? I don't know. Oh, well. |

| Weight Loss | Frustration with the scale! Advice? | Sep 15 2009 16:39 (UTC) |

To the scale question: Don't be a slave to the scale to the point that it causes stress when you see the result. Put the scale in one place and try not to move it. Weigh yourself at the same part of the day and consider not weighing in every day but maybe once every three days or even once a week. I went on a quest for a better scale but realized that I'm more interested in a lower number than an EXACT number when I weigh. Best of luck to you! |

The first great move you made was to speak up on the forum! Cool! That keeps you in the game, you're just down a little in the sixth inning. You can still win the game. Just keep playing. A few years ago I lost about 30. Went to get a physical and my evil cholesterol was very high, (Atkins at the time). I very quietly used that as an excuse to quit that diet, ignore dieting and eventually just didn't even think about it...until I noticed the fat was back to the tune of 50 pounds. Hell, I never even noticed it. Keep your eye on the prize, stay in the game and play to win. You will. |

So, let me get this straight. You weigh 117 to 119 pounds, you eat a pint of Ben & Jerry's ice cream and a one and a half pound calzone but you're "not dieting"? Why are you here? Really, if you're not here to maintain, gain or lose weight then why? Just curious. |

Also, if you want a real treat then try steel cut Irish oatmeal. It takes 30 minutes to cook but the flavor and texture difference is worth the extra effort. What a change from the instant oatmeal we grew up with. |

This can be, and seem like, a grim and lonely battle back to fitness and health. Remember that it is a LONG process and it's a decision that you've made. It's a decision that you want to fulfill. And you always finish what you start out to do, right? Hang in there. You are certainly not alone in your worthwhile quest. |

In the morning, every morning. Sticking to a precise diet and excercise plan leaves me confident that any "bad news" at the scale is a temporary condition and after 28 days that's proven to be true. |
