Try not to beat yourself up! It was one day, one muffin!  Maybe you could make the one day when they have these coffee breaks your treat day where you get to chose one treat they bring in and eat it without guilt!

I agree with moonpie (cute name). We are entitled to a treat every now and again. I mean, we hold ourselves to our diets with regularity. Push ourselves to do better every single day. I wish I could remember where on CC that I read the post where it was said that we shouldn't feel guilty for treating ourselves once in a while after we have met a specific goal.

If you are worried about falling off the wagon so to speak, why not speak with whomever is responsible for planning these events and ask them to put something healthy on the menu? Its worth a shot. Or better yet, on the days you know that it is going to happen, bring your own snacks so that you won't be tempted. Just a thought.

Good luck.

Congratulations Heavenlydancer24 for your accomplishment.  However you said you are doing 1400-1700 calories a day and limiting your fat/sugar/sodium intake...  I know this is more of a question for food, but can you or anyone one here help me out on this. Everything you mentioned is in everything we eat right... So how do you determine what is too much of either of them? I'm still in Phase I, trying to learn all that I can.

I exercise in the mornings already, and go to bed pretty much at the same time every night, and get a minimum of 7 houts sleep. I didn't realize this will help boost my metabolism.

As for the proteins, I do believe that is one of my biggest challenges because I am still in the learning process about what to eat. I will also give the spice foods a try.

Hi All.  I live in Western Palm Beach County.

Current weight:  173

Goal Weight:  140 (realistically, 150)

A lil extra: I'm also doing the Slim in 6. I have only been at it for 2 weeks. I'm hoping to see some progress soon.

Fitness Eating before exercise: Pro or Con Sep 05 2009

I exercise in the mornings as well, and sometimes in the evenings when I get home from work, depends on how I feel. I make it a point to get up at 5 am to do it.

When I first got my Wii Fit, it asked if I had breakfast, if not, eat a banana before exercise so that I would have more energy exercise. It really does help. But when I got my Slim in 6, it said to exercise on an empty stomach. That makes it so confusing don't you think? That is why I posted the question here. So thank you so much for your reply.

Sleepybum, that pic is almost a year old. If you were to see the pics I just took, you wouldn't be so nice.

I promise to keep you updated. I'm going to take new pics every two weeks to see if I see a difference in myself with proper exercise and diet.

Thank you.

Not advertising for Dr. Ian, but his 30-day diet really is a great way to go. My entire family, husband, 14-yr old son and myself, have gotten on board.  Truth be told, we do not follow everything on the list. We actually substitute one day for the next or day before. My point is, it works.  It is simply allowing you to eat what you like, but less. It is just a habit now.

I really think it works.  Especially with a good work out regiment (Wii Fit and walking).

Just MHO.

Motivation Challenge ! Aug 17 2009
12:41 (UTC)

OK Tatybear,

I took the challenge.  I didn't do it the exact same day, but I got off my duff and did it Sunday, Aug. 16.

I follow the instructions from someone else's post about getting started running.  I ran a block, walked a block until I made it back home.  My motivation to finally run? I had to use the bathroom so bad (lol) and was a long ways from home (lmao). I really don't care wha made me do it. The point is, I feel great knowing that I CAN DO IT!

So I'm going to make it a habit. Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday. Those are my days to run.

I also plunged in a ordered the Slim N 6 program.  I don't know what impact it will have, but I think like this. Any exercise program is only as good as the person doing it right.

Anyhoo.  Thanks for the motivation.

I'll bite Tatybear.

Today, I am going to walk the mile (give or take) to the store and run back. Is that challenging enough?

I say that a lot and then find some excuse not to do it. Like Sunday, my husband and I walked to the store.  I wanted to be the one to initiate the run, but elected to walk faster instead. Well boo, I'm going to do it today. If I can run in place for 20 minutes for the Wii, I can run the distance.

I'll let you know how it turns out.

Motivation Reversing the Good Aug 11 2009

Thank you so much. I reallly need to read this.

I didn't know about the number  of calories it would take to actually gain a lot.  I believe it is more water gain than anything else. I do drink a lot of water, I'm back on my diet (Dr. Ian) and I work out in the mornings and again in the evenings, taking a break once a week

Octo-Luv, I find that swapping out exercises on a daily basis helps to keep me very motivated in that area.  For example, I may box and play baseball, etc. today, but tomorrow, I will do strength training and yoga.

I can honestly see the result in the way my clothes fit me.

I think I'm just disgusted because of my lack of self-control this weekend.  This dieting/exercise is really new to me and I'm constantly wondering if I'm doing it right.  How long am I going to stick to it. So I push myself to prove to myself that I'm not a quitter.

I'm going to try to follow both of your advice with a lot more confidence.

Again, thank you both.

XTremely Grateful!
