Sometimes, dogs escape off of their leashes or jump the fence. These people didn't command their dog to run around and cause a fatal car accident. |

| The Lounge | I don't want to grow up! | Oct 21 2009 21:57 (UTC) |

I will never grow up. I think that my future job will actually be kind of fun for me, so I think going to work will be like going and doing something fun and interesting. It's the homework that goes along with it that isn't going to be as fun! However, I thrive on my immaturity and crude way of thinking. So maybe I'll just turn into one of those dirty grandmas who wear g-strings and go around smacking young men's bottoms. Who knows. But between now and 80 years of age, I don't plan on maturing too much. |

I'm not going anywhere, but I do plan on being a pirate. I have a striped shirt (Michael Kors.. go figure! ha) and an eye patch from when I scratched my eye SO bad that it was infected and just not a pretty sight for people to see, and black gauchos.. so I'm going to be a pirate and sit on my couch watching scary movies. *EDIT* I am also going to devour an entire little ziplock baggie filled with 300 calories of candy corn. OMG. |

I grew up with the most incredible beagle in the world! I absolutely adore him. I was scared to death of dogs since age 6 due to a brutal attack by one of those stupid little dogs that bite your ankles (I was a very small 6 year old- the f-er took me down and bit me in several places!) while I was walking home from the bus stop. We got the beagle when I was 12 and he cured my fear of dogs :) I want a dog really bad now but my husband doesn't like dogs. :( |

My kindergarten teacher REALLY hated me. Instead of learning letters and how to write them, she focused in on cutting, pasting, and coloring. Mind you, this was NOT preschool. She scheduled a special parent/teacher/principal conference for me because I didn't hold scissors properly. Apparently I still don't, but I personally believe I've been fairly successful using safety scissors since then.. She even wanted to hold me back and make me repeat kindergarten because of my coloring skills. As soon as I got to first grade, I was always ahead of my class and they even made me go into those "special" classes for the "smart" kids to "exercise" my "abilities", I took honors and AP's in high school and graduated at the top of my class. I still can't color in the lines. Go figure. |

I ended up going to work today and was fine because I was on drive-thru the whole time and drank 7 glasses of water just at work alone and ended up having to work an hour longer than usual. I'm doing okay though.. |

Original Post by adolphs: It's VERY good for the pet. http://www.naturesvariety.com/ And you don't just go to Von's and buy some raw meat and freeze it and then give it to your dog. It's 100% different. |

Vets generally get one training course in pet nutrition and it's sponsored by Science Diet. If you want your dog to be healthy, go with raw frozen. That's the best of the best in my opinion. |

| The Lounge | Would you pay for your daughter's birth control? | Oct 13 2009 21:53 (UTC) |

When I started having sex, I was VERY young. My mom didn't get me the pills or anything at that point, but she always made sure I had money on me so that if I got myself in a situation that I could get condoms or something since guys are hardly ever that responsible at 13. Later on, my mom started paying for birth control for a few reasons, including both the fact that I was sexually active and that it could help things such as acne and my periods. I think that if a daughter is having sex, her mom shouldn't deny her birth control and be closed minded about it because that's how girls end up getting pregnant. The mom should educate their daughter on risk of pregnancy and diseases, etc., and discuss what method of birth control the daughter would like to use so that the mom can help the daughter get it. Kids aren't going to stop having sex just because mommy won't pay for birth control. |

I would contact an organization that has offices near you or that will work with you regardless of your distance from their main offices, and ask them about fundraising. Laws are going to vary from state to state, so it's best to just talk to the organization to see what they can help you do. |

In my opinion, people who are so paranoid that there are gay people looking at them shower, either have a huge paranoia issue, are gay themselves, or find 99% of people sexually attractive and couldn't contain yourself if you ended up in a shower with them. Just because you have these issues doesn't mean that a random person with a different sexual preferance than you is just as messed up as you are. |

Original Post by clharr: Oh my god, do you need numbers of a mental hospital? Don't give yourself so much credit. Just because they are attracted to your sex doesn't mean they're attracted to YOU. Gah! I've shared rooms with openly gay females and I became great friends with them. This was while I was at rehab. I understood that just because they find some females attractive doesn't mean they find ME attractive. And even if they did, they were RESPECTFUL of me, just as I RESPECTED THEM TOO. I'M GOING TO CLEAR UP A COMMON MISCONCEPTION: GAYS ALSO HAVE SELF CONTROL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!! Probably more than you if you're making such comments. GAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You're the kind of people who "Jesus" is going to deny at the "gates of heaven", just FYI. So get a grip on life. |

Original Post by umneydurak: I think it's cute that you're giving me advice on weight loss. I've lost almost 50 pounds since June by dieting, eating much healthier, and exercising. I have never come near a bicycle during that time. The closest thing was one of those stationary bikes at the gym. But I think that the road is meant for cars which people put a TON of money into the up-keep and purchase of. Bikes are just a distraction and I think that you're a great example as to the lack of intelligence that bicycle riders have. |

Original Post by umneydurak: Actually, I don't find bikers to be scary. I've honked at one, scared him, and almost made him fall off his bike, and he came over to talk to me, and I just told him that because of his unsafe bike riding, I could have hit him and the honking was to wake him up so that he doesn't get killed by a driver paying less attention than I paid. Ride your bike in an area without cars. They have trails and crap for that. My biggest advice for those who insist on riding bikes to work and stuff: Get a used Vespa or another type of scooter. Used = a lot cheeper than new, and you only have to fill it up with gas every couple months. You also won't piss drivers off as much. |

I absolutely hate bikers who don't understand the concept of staying INSIDE the bike lane. I also hate bikers who block you from trying to make a right turn on a red when everything else is open. They deserve to get honked at. It scares the you know what out of them and makes them get off the road for a sec so I can blow by them. |

If you look at the list of winners from the last 10 years compared to the 1940's or so, you will see a huge difference. I don't think Obama doesn't necessarily deserve it.. because sure, he won it, so awesome job. But I just think that they are running out of great people, and we think of people like Mother Teresa getting it.. but there are no well-known Mother Teresas out there really anymore. So the next best thing gets it.. and that's the president who is trying to clean up Bush's mess. |

If the house is in both your husband and your name, it IS technically your house. Therefore, you can't so much punish your stepson, but you can establish a house rule for the home, which could be none of his friends or girlfriends in the house. You could also call the girls' parents and once that happens, word may get around his school and he won't be bringing girls home anymore. It's your husband's responsibility to discipline his child. If he can't do that, you could talk to your husband and tell him how important it is to you and your marriage that he disciplines his child properly. Until then, take care of your stuff. You can buy a safe at an office supply store or probably even Wal Mart or Target for less than $50 (I have one), and they are great. You could also buy a new doorknob for your bedroom door and make it so that you need a key to unlock it. Keep a key on you at all times and maybe keep one in your glove compartment in your car for if you happen to lose the one you keep on you. I was a bad kid myself and I didn't listen to ANY discipline until it got serious. You have to have that talk with your husband and tell him that your marriage is going to lose its strength if he continues to let his child treat you so poorly. |
