Welcome, Rancho!  Keep it up, madame!

I took a friend to the airport today:  a scenic 10 hour round trip drive across the desert.  The only downsides are no exercise and a Taco Bell diet.  Back on track tomorrow.

Actually, not tomorrow.  My parents are coming to visit, which means I'll be eating Catholic style--getting guilted into seconds--for the next couple of days.  Any suggestions on portion control when family's in town?

I've been doing well with exercise recently, but I've had a hard time keeping myself to 1800 cal.  When I get muscle-y, I get hungry.  Luckily, I'm maxing out at 2200.  I'm still burning more than I'm taking in.

Weighed in today.  I gained a pound this week, but I'm pretty sure it's a muscle thing.  Had to downsize from XL to L.

My holiday was something of a train wreck.  But no worries.  It was the Fourth. It was my patriotic duty to drink beer and avoid the gym.

Congrats to everyone for surviving the holiday.  It's one of the toughest to be good through.

Starting 7/5, I've been averaging 1800 calories a day intake, and I've been burning 3K-3200.  Keep forgetting to weigh myself so I'm not sure where I am on that.

i feel so stupid and awful.   i ate too much today and yesterday and i'm afraid i will gain more than a pound and not be under 110 by monday when i leave for ny which was my goal.  so frustrating!

Yesterday was tough.  It's hard to stay perfect on a day when folks are BBQ-ing (even for us vegetarians) and the gym is likely closed.  Back on track today!

wow the support so far is great!! keep it up

I had a good week last week but this week i'm not doing so well... I've been more tired which makes me want to eat more.. and i'm not making good choices.... what do you guys do when you're getting off track?

The thing that works for me is a reward system. I'm a facebook addict, so my reward has been facebook time. When I fall off track, one trip to the gym earns me so much extra facebook time. Then I'll make it a little tougher with, say, three trips to the gym getting me said facebook time.  If I keep going to the gym, I get my reward.  As soon as I fall off track, I (in theory) lose my reward.

This takes a lot of will power, and it's easy to cheat.  That's why I've also set up big rewards along the way.  Like, when I lose an extra 10 lbs, I'll be able to get a better mp3 player than my paltry, .5 GB travesty.

I'm in.

SW:  ??? (235-ish in January, I'm guessing.  I didn't weigh myself til mid-March.  At that point, I'd lost a bunch of weight.)

CW:  203

Goal: 165-170

Diet plan: 1800 vegetarian (ideally vegan) calories, most days.  I'm giving myself a free day every now and then, because I can't squeeze a beer into an 1800 calorie diet.

Exercise:  Kickin' butt at the gym on the cardio machines and on weights six days a week.  My cardio routine is brutal.  Weights, not so much.  Also, my wife takes the car to work, so I have to walk anywhere I want to go.

I'm motivated now, but that's because I'm a teacher and have nothing to do during the summer except stay motivated.  I'm worried about my motivation level when school starts up in August.

Weight Loss 2000 calories too little? Jun 30 2009

What kinds of foods are you eating?  2000 calories, mostly from fresh veggies, is going to be a lot more filling than 2000 calories of, say, Pizza Hut.
