I am sure it will yo-yo back up if he continues to eat trash..isn't that true with any diet? I am sure if he continues to eat healthy and stops the pills exercise, he will keep the weight off. Wouldn't you agree?

This may be true, but not for everyone.  A common side affect is weight gain.  I have been on the depo for 10 years and over the course of time i have gained about 20-25 lbs.  Once I started noticing the weight gain, I changed my eating habits and started working out 4-6 days a week.  No matter what I did, I still gained.  I have decided to go off the depo because of this and other side effects (loss of hair). 

The depo does make you hungry..Depo-Provera is a progestin injection which causes increase hunger and lowers metabolism.  

Before making such accusations towards someone, you might do a little research on the side effects of the depo shot.

As for the bone density loss, I have had a bone density test and my bones weren't bad and showed what they should for the age that I was at, at the time of the test.

I think everyone responds to depo differently.  I've heard lots of horror stories about depo, but if it was so horrible for everyone doctors would stop prescribing it.  I personally love it. No periods, no ill effects on my sex drive, my acne cleared up, and I'm losing weight faster than before I was depo.  Every type of birth control effects everyone differently.  My doctor has had me try several types of pills and I had bad side effects with each of them.  I suggest you talk with your doctor about your concerns.

This may be true but I was 19 when I took it and ONLY weighed 95 pounds..it too me from 95 pounds to 120 in 2 months! My friend who was 17  and weighed 115 when she took it eventually weighed 200 pounds! I was one of the people who gained weight FAST on it, it was the start of my present day weight problems..I KNOW if I had not took that shot I would have been a LOT thinner now..It seems like it changed something in my body. Also, yes, every drug effects people differently but from knowing MANY people that took that shot, it just takes LONGER to effect some people...My friend that I previously mentioned SLOWLY gained the weight over 5 years..I was the on ewho GAINED REALLY fast...also, my hair started falling out in patches! Trust me EVENTUALLY you will see some problems..THEY SHOULD BAN IT IN MY OPINION!

I have taken it before on two separate occasions.  The first time I managed to lose 50lbs in 6 months.  The second time it didn't work for me.  However, I will not take it again.  Because obviously once I quit taking it I put the weight back on.  It can work really well for losing the weight though, not to mention giving you all kinds of energy.  Nothing like "legal speed".  lol

 This is not to offend but this is my FIRST REAL time trying to lose weight and I hear people saying that various diets don;t work because when they stop, such as in your case Phentermine, you gained the weight back. Did this happen because you stopped the medicine or you continued to eat poorly, this causing more weight gain?

Sure! I need all the support I can get! 70 pounds is a lot of weight to lose.

Thanks for the advice Lynners. I eat almonds once a day already and I bought some tuna, peanut butter and a few other high protein snacks. I don't know why I am losing weight so fast. Maybe its all the working out I have been doing. I also drink 80-100 oz of water a day. It has to be water weight anyway right?
