im 5 foot 7 and a half inches - I know Im not over weight! I definitely dont under estimate either, I am pretty obsessed about it. i eat 2 weetabix for breakfast with skimmed milk so about 140cals, apple for snack 50cals, salad from boots which is usually about 120 calories, and dinner of either chicken breast and steamed veg or white fish and steamed veg 200 After that I might snack on raisins or a natural yoghurt and sometimes have about half a slice of bread if im hungry later. So surely I shouldnt be gaining weight!!!!!!! I used to be 121 lbs and have shot up over the past 3-4 months without explanation. Im really annoyed abotu the whole thing and wish id never restricted in the way that I have, im just really scared to eat more and gain! |

I don't know its been consistently 3lbs heavier for the last few months and I hadnt been doing anything different at all - i was always eating a mainly carb diet but wasnt eating any more than usual or exercising any less. Then I changed my diet to include protein and less carbs and so far I've lost 1-2lbs but not quite there yet. Weird! |

I feel like I have more energy actually yeah. It was like something clicked in my mind for the first time ever with what some1 said where I realised I was eating nothing but pure sugar! No protein and no real goodness. I have even lost a pound and I've been eating more! lol |

Hi its been almost a week and this is what ive been eating - Id like opinions on it. Breakfast - either porridge or weetabix Mid Morn - piece of Fruit Lunch - salad with lots of veg and a meat such as grilled chicken/tuna/prawns Dinner - Either chicken breast/haddock/other fish with veggies and a desert of natural yoghurt with no added sugars. Snacks - Brazil nuts Have also been drinking over 2 ltrs of water a day. |

Theres some really great advice here thanks. So with this healthy balance thing about % of fats carbs etc - should this be for every meal or for the day in general? Its kinda hard to fit all that stuff into breakfast or lunch when I work long hours.
I am in my early 20s - my job is desk based but I try to take the stairs each day (8 flights 2 times a day) walk around for about an hour a day and then I go to the gym or do some exercise @ home for 30 mins 2/3 times a week - do I need to do more?? Its hard fitting in the time to do more as I typically work 10 hour days or sometimes longer. |

really? So you mean if I actually start eating more I will LOSE weight? How does this work? What will happen to me? As for salt...I dont know whether I eat a lot of it - I never add it to my foods - I eat loads of fruit although I do eat a lot of cereals that probably have salt- do these cause water retention? |

Well I'm definitely not pregnant I know that for sure! I wondered whether it was related to me going to the gym as my weight gain has coincided with me starting working out - I don't do a lot of it though, only a couple of times a week running or cross trainer - dont do weights or anything though.
I don't eat many calories at all - probs about 700-800 a day which I kno is not enough so think I have destroyed my metabolism but would this cause a gain of 5lbs all of a sudden over a few months? Ive been eating this much for years so why does it only happen now?
