HI, I think what you did in the past to lose the weight was put your body in starvation mode by not eating enough calories. So when you started to eat right again, your body started to hold onto it. I just found out I am getting arthritis in my rt. knee, and I just bought a treadmill too, and have been on it, but I am taking it slow at first, only 15 mins. a day at 2.2 mph. I feel that I am not getting enough cardio to burn the fat yet though since my heart rate isn't up there like it should be, even though I'm panting and short of breath by the time I am finished. I work up a nice sweat though so feel that I am doing something at least. I want to work up to more time though, but with my lower back and knee problems, I have to be careful too. I am over 300 now myself, so I know it will take time to get it off. I just have to cut the sugar down and eat right. If I don't plan meals out ahead of time, I cheat every time! I am a binge eater too, so I can't just eat one of something. I hate doing that because I feel so guilty afterwards for doing it. I feel that my eating is just emotional since I'm alone now, and I use food as comfort then. That is why I like talking on here and sharing. It helps you not feel so alone in your efforts. Keep up the good work and don't stop trying. Liz |

I was just reading in a mag. about RMR, Resting Metabolic Rate. You have to have so many calories to maintain proper body function. There is a formula in the mag. that helps some, but is not all that accurate either because it doesn't account for exercise, muscle mass etc. Here is the formula though if you want to try to figure out how many cals. you should eat etc. 655+4.35 x your weight in pounds, +4.7 x your height in inchesm - 4.7 x your age. It said on there that if you cut your cal. intake by 15%, you should lose weight then. When I did it, I was down to 1288.5 cals. a day. I can't live on that, so I will increase my calories, and increase my work out then. I get too hungry if I go too low in calories. I got a treadmill now, so I can walk daily and if I eat something I know I shouldn't at least I can burn off a few calories and not feel so guilty all of the time now. Starvation never helped me in the past, nor did diet pills etc. It just messes up your metabolism. Good luck. |
