Recipes Veggie Tales----Need some input! Jun 09 2009

I love to stir fry...sweet onions, red and green peppers, shredded carrots, snap peas...I really think you can throw just about any veggie in a hot, nonstick pan with just a touch of EVOO and low sodium soy sauce, sprinkle of ginger, and a little honey (if you like) and it come out great. If I need extra cal's, I'll add in chicken and/or serve it over brown rice.  In one sitting I can down a whole bell pepper, half an onion, and a whole carrot...what's that, like 3-4 servings of veggies?

Also, when I'm making anything with red sauce (pizza, spaghetti, lasagna, etc) I through 3-4 carrots in a food processor and create a pulp. Mix that with the sauce. No one ever knows =)

Agreed! I would love for the analysis to include a history of calories burned and calories eaten.

Health & Support Advice? Mirena IUD & Mini-Pill Apr 21 2009

After having my son, I got the IUD. I have been nothing but pleased since, it's been about 9 months. My periods only last for about 2 days and are barely worth wearing a liner for. My cramps are basically nonexistent. I was like you, I was down and out with cramps before. I was on the pill for 7 years before I got pregnant and had no real issues then, I just wanted something more reliable and shorter periods. The pill didn't do that for me.

Alright motivation people...

Today's my birthday, I want to cheat so bad! I want a big lunch and a big dinner...I'm down 27 lbs, 33 to go.

I can see the precedent...holidays and birthdays are going to be tough...I can't make excuses for all of them...but is just mine okay...probably not...if I start with mine, what's to say I won't start saying all celebrations are reasons to cheat...and if I have to call it cheating doens't that mean it's bad anyway?...

sorry to ramble...happy birthday to me Undecided

I've used calorie counting off and on since high school. I agree with you, I think this is a much healthier (physically and mentally) approach to weight loss than cutting out entire food groups.

I think you have a very realistic goal. I consider "properly" (thanks to CC) being 2 lbs or less per week. If you lose 2 lbs/week from now until May 1, you'll lose between 14 and 15 pounds.

I'm with ya...

F, 23, 5'9/10"

Start Weight (Nov 08): 220

Goal #1: Be back at pre-pregnancy weight by son's first birthday: 175 by May 29

Goal #2: Be back at happy weight by end of July: 160 by July 30

Current weight: 198 (Lost 22 lbs; 23 to go to 1st Goal; 38 to go to 2nd Goal)

I've been swimming a few times a week, I am so sick of working out at the gym. Calorie counting has always been very effective for me and it's proving itself once again. I'm aiming for 2 lbs. a week in loss. I know the more I lose, the more difficult it will be to maintain that goal. But so far I've been able to hit it. I'm an accountant and this time of year I have no free time, so hopefully, after April 15 I will be able to step up my workouts and won't have too much of an issue maintaining my 2lbs/wk goal.

I would just use a good substitute. I searched for 'Sausage Gravy' and found quite a few that taste pretty similar to me. Try using Steak N Shake's or Hardee's sausage gravy.

I got the same way...I've been doing the same workout for 4 years...not only was it getting old...but I think my body became immune to it.

I started swimming for 30 min a day, 2-3 days a week. I LOVE IT! It's such a great way to mix it up. There's an indoor pool about 10 min from my work, so it's pretty convenient.

Log EVERYTHING! I even put in water! I know there's nothing in it...as long as you buy the right kind. If I eat 2 M&Ms, I log those. If you don't log everything...it's not a true representation of your daily diet.

135 is not a healty BMI for someone who is 5'9"; you would be classified as "underweight" if you were 135

Use the tools > BMI calculator...put in your info and see what a healthy BMI is for your height.

I love the applesauce cups you can buy in the six pack at the grocery store.  Each cup is one serving of fruit.  And they make all the different flavored applesauces like that so if you want strawberry flavored applsauce-you can have it!
