cimike--That I can absolutely agree with! From what I understand that is why cardio was so important in my regime. That is where I lost the most weight then the weights to tone. I could not rely on strength training primarily for weight loss |

Good information thank you for educating me. But maybe this is something that would vary from person to person. I know personally that I cannot do the heavy weights low rep routine. I very easily build up muscle, problem with that is I actually get bigger and gain weight but when you are already 180 apx lbs its not ideal for me to weight anymore!. I have had many many trainers (with my heart condition I was not allowed for the last 4 years to work out on my own)and all of them thought women could not gain easily. But when I was putting on inches steadily even under a strict diet the only thing that worked was a high cardio, low weight/high rep. I am one of those that cannot measure my weight loss by a scale but by appearance and the way my clothes fit though. Sorry, I would never want to support incorrect info- I guess there are always people who dont fit every fitness concept though like me:) |

Be careful if you are worried about gaining. Rule of thumb for women is less weight more reps. Depending on your body type you can put on more muscle and obvoiusly muscle weighs more than fat. Looking at your profile though you dont need to lose weight--AT ALL! Tone if you are worried or hate your appearance that much but your weight issues appear to the rest of us as vanity. I dont know how much you weigh but if you are under your recommended body weight (what the doctors advice not the last page of the cosmo mag) than you may want to talk to a doctor or counsler. Reading your profile you seem really unhappy with your body in general. May be I am way off base--But take care of you! |

You may want to look at your diet and the food you are eating. Maybe write it down. i kept a log for awhile of the foods I ate and how I felt after and I noticed after eating certain foods especially with high sodium I felt fatigued and depressed. My nutritionist noticed it since I was pretty much eating the same things everyday with very little variations while I was dieting. (which at the time I would lose 5, gain 3 the next week) You will be amazed if you actually keep a log that certain foods do effect your mood! Just a suggestion--we all have our fav foods we may eat daily and its worth looking into! |

| Weight Loss | I'm sorta intimidated to go to the gym | Jul 02 2009 15:49 (UTC) |

Dont get intimidated by the people there at the gym. I tell myself I may be bigger than you but at least I am here and I am working on it. You think those people were just born that way-most of the serious muscle bodies have to work out everyday twice as hard just to stay that way. Ask anyone who has ever had a sixpack what would happen if they stopped working out for a few weeks--it goes away faster than they built it! I use to have the same issue feeling paranoid, or that everyone is looking at me. And most of all I did not know how to use the equiptment that showed the muscle groups I wanted to use. I finally got up the nerve to just ask people-the front desk, the guy who just used the equiptment. I find most people are either helpful or full of themselves and like to show off-which helps you cause they love to show off that they know something about working out! I am not a morning person either, the only advice I tell everyone is work out when its best for you. There is no scientific proof that a time of the day is better than others. Some people say it gives them energy through the rest of the day if they do am, I say its bogus--I can barely stay awake if I do that for 8 hours. Do what works for you, something is better than nothing and one step closer to your goal.

Boxed cupcake is a very cool idea, and I like the comment one person put about matching with the cake! We did the MM thing at my moms wedding and it also was a big hit. Suprisingly it came in her wedding colors which dont judge me it was her wedding was teal, lavendar, and brown! Actual items tend to get tossed after awhile and end up costing a lot more. Splurge the money more on details important to you, you are already paying enough to have people witness YOUR day! Congrats by the way |

I think that madamq gave the best advice in this situation. I know I dont function well in the am. If i have a choice to get up early and work out or hit that snooze button 5 more times-sleep will always win. But I am also aware that I am a person that likes to stay up late and functions better late in the evening. Either lunch times or after dinner works best for me. At first I thought I would be too full to go for a walk after I eat, but I think about the weight I want to lose and force myself to go "walk it off" in a sense and sometimes what I ate makes me push myself that much more to burn a few extra calories Just find what works for you, its time for yourself and your well being |

| Health & Support | Anyone on both the birth control pill and an SSRI? | Jul 02 2009 14:43 (UTC) |
|
I got placed on both at the same time and did not have any issues. I found myself to be in better moods and having the birth control regulated my body wich helped in weight loss. Being on both really helped me since I was able to become more self aware of what was going on with my body. If I bloated I knew it was cycle issues, and the celexa just helped me on the emotional aspect, I felt less depressed and the more weight I lost the more active I became. Was a win-win for me. But of course it varies from person to person. Monitor yourself very closely for awhile. Track your weight and keep in mind that while your body is adjusting to being on birth control you may experience a little weight gain until you become regular. Overall, be aware of your bodys functions and dont panic if you gain 5lbs while your body is adjusting. |

Relax and stop worrying about it. The more you focus on it the worst its going to make you feel and the more strain its going to put on your relationship between you and your husband trust me. First, Have you both had fertility tests taken? Once you get that out of the way then let nature take its course and enjoy you and hubbys private time. Accept that its just you two for now and you both can still plan, talk, and joke about when you have your own little bundle of joy. Not to mention think of all the fun sex you can have and places when you are not focused on making that baby-that is up to nature not that little stick that turns blue saying its time to get busy~ You dont want him to feel like a drive through customer making his monthly deposits. And trust me sweety you dont want to spend the rest of the month going crazy thinking things like "am I pregnant? when will my due date be if I am pregnant, oh no is that a period bloat in my belly, and what day is it am I overdue, does my belly feel hard to you, I feel nauseated this morning? You really will drive yourself and your hubby crazy. Relax and enjoy. Good luck to both of you! |

| Foods | consuming sugar | Jul 02 2009 14:13 (UTC) |

The previous post could not have said it better! Sugar naturally in fruits are a go! The way I understand it is the more natural in form it is the better, the more processed and refined (like bagged sugar) the worst it is. I like to juice fresh fruits on the weekends, what a great replacement for caffine in coffee and teas. I actually get more of an energy boost from juicing-I found that out the hard way when I tried to have fresh juice before going to bed :)

Most of you have answered the question but I wanted to share something great I found with the group. There is a website I use, its called mapmyrun.com and for those of you that walk in your neighborhoods you can put your address in and see maps of the streets in your area (similar to google satallite maps) and mark the path you walk or run to see the distance you are running and the elevation. I was able to mark my running path and see the exact tree by the lake near my house that would mark a mile and a half for me! This is not a advertisement, you dont have to sign up for anything, I just like sharing the site since I find it helpful! Happy walking or running! |

I know the sugary stuff is hard to let go, but the amazing thing is and I promise you this. Once you give it up you never really want to drink it again, it actually will taste gross or syrupy. I also know its hard to just go to veggies and water. I suggest going to somthing that gives you sugar but in a better form. Try juices, fresh juicing is the best but if you dont have the time or equipment then get 100% juice. It gives you a quick energy and is easier than trying to suck down tons of water when you are not use to it. As for the snacks, try things that are again sweet but natural. Back to nature makes some womderful dried fruit-like dried strawberries that taste way better than candy. Reminds me of fruit roll ups-and talking about that they have fruit leathers from Sams and Costco (40 in a box for 9.99 8 different flavors) which look like fruit roll ups that are 100% fruit no added sugar just fruit and apple juice pressed and count as a 1 serving of fruit. Trust me they are hard to stop eating! This way you are eating healty but dont even realize it! I hope this helps--I know how hard it is to give up the bad stuff--My vice is coffee, but it really is better for you in the long run and you will feel better. Whatever you do, do not start to drink the diet sodas insted, there are ingrediants that are even more highly addicitve than normal soda and are worst for you. Good Luck |

There is actually not a problem with sleeping in a bra as long as you have ones devoted to it. Make sure you wear ones that allow for proper circulation and dont have annoying clips or clasps and has fabric that breaths well The seamless material and wireless bras work the best, they honestly look like a mix between a training bra and a sports bra. They are cute, come in various sizes, I have had to buy them past a D for my sister, and affordable (20 each) I recommend Vanity Fair--suprisingly I use to buy them at (?)acy's and you still can but (?)almart is now carrying them for much less. |

You should seriously invest in a small buisness devoted to that. I hate all these cookie cutter designers that make almost all clothes for tall super thin girls! Seems all tops no matter if they are XL or S are all built for smaller chests. I always have to cut the built in bra out or stay clear of the shirts that have any type of chest cuts on them. most of the time the seam comes up half way and looks rediculous. Just like pants, if you find them in your size, they are usually for a 6 foot woman--Or worst how many of you have tried on your size in a store (young ladies) and it does not fit, then go to womens section try on the same size and it fits or is too big! I am only 26 and am not appealed to convert to the Womens section fully yet~! I think this most of all is what makes most of us the most dissatisfied with our bodies, the standard that is around us in our everyday lives. Seriously, Look into it. There is money in that buisness!

I am 5"3 and belive me when i tell you you should not be 110 pounds. That is really unhealthy. For your height 120 is actually a very optimal weight. The recommended weight is about 127. Why dont you try muscle toning if you are unhappy with the appearance of your body. Going to 110 lbs is for pure vanity reasons and not health reasons. You can actually really hurt your body in the long run screwing up your metabolic functions and fertility. You also could find yourself anemic or iron deficient. Not something you want to have to deal with just to stay in those size 2's. Take this advice--tone and stop worrying about your weight...that number is one most of us can wish for! |
