Hi! When I was an inpatient, there was a magic rule for bulimics -thing u restrict, thing u would crave- ...I saw "vegetarians" craving meat like hell in there! b careful and do not be totally strict while cutting off food, allow urself for some bread daily...actually like 3 portions of cereals or 5..dunno....u wanna loose or gain?? I believe u may need extra help..perhaps psycol/psychiatrist/nutritionist. Believe me, there are ways to control that anxiety towards food! pills are really helpful n also therapy is gr8 do not GIVE UP! U CAN DO IT :) |

Hi!!! I was in a similar situation. Used to be bulimic, and gained massive weight after stopping the purgings. I gained about 20 pounds in less than 2 months, plus water weight. Anyway, I had to get into a residential treatment- do not wanna go there, believe me...it helped me a lot, but it was sooo expensive. Anyway, the thing that worked for me was balancing exercise and food -used to be exercise-addict also- ...just 3 times a week...2 of cardio, 1 of lifting...and 5 meals- 3 big n 2 snacks. I usually made one of my snacks unhealthy to control anxiety. I loved binging also, but I also love my body....I would suggest seing a psychiatrist and getting some pills, they help too. The important thing is too now ur not alone. Now, after almost a year of gaining those extra 20 pounds, I am now a lil underweight! can u imagine? ...guess my ED transformed into anorexia again...anyway, u can do it...that anxiety towards food CAN GO AWAY,,,,but u need serious help! nutritionist, psycology, psychiatrist, doctors! they could help u!! ohmg ok! here's what happened I went with my mother's family for a week and there's so many ppl! my mom has 5 bro's n 3 sisters...so 9 in total..... and I have around 20 cousins! so it is fair enough to say that my grandma and all the ladies are ALWAYS busy in the kitchen cuz there's so many ppl. Most of them are obese, like with a 25-30 BMI. Anyways, I went there for a week and as I was starving before, I didn't care and ate as much as I could, sometimes healthy sometimes unhealthy. When I came back home, I had tons of water weight so I had to struggle with my ED. The first day after that chaotic week... I ate 1000 kcals, and the next I said.."ok, I wanna do this right, do not freak out" n I managed to eat 1500...ive been in 2000 since then, not gaining anything. I am quite slim now (used to be obesed when kid, then depression took off most of my extra kilos, and after some years ...ED!), but never been underweight (My slowest BMI was 20...so u see). I know it wasn't good for my body, but I do not think I was much in control of myself (bingeeee eating...). I am 5 ft 3 in and...114 lbs. I am going through a lot, actually just 2 days ago I went to a psychiatrist. I was in a residential program 8 months ago n all but after I went out I stopped going to my appointments. pretty messy life....anyway I guess we all have one. Thanks all for the responses! and i will try to continue at 2000, but it scares the hell out of meee..... this site is so supportive...thanks again!!! to all of uu!! |

Hi!! I have PCOS as well, but mine is not that severe. However, I've pretty much done an obssessive-compulsive research about this and I can tell u what are some normal syndromes: - it is completely normal to b dpressed, it happens to me all the time -ur pelvic zone swollen...i think that might be psychological, as for what I am concerned and what ive investigated, constipation is common, and that's what causes the swollen area -hirsutism- excess hair in the face/arms/bikini area -difficulty losing weight -problems getting pregnant -weird cycles -manly stuff like changing voice, getting more of a male figure, etc... just a few...anyways, as I said, mine is supposedly not that grave, but I was pretty concerned when diagnosed. Also, one thing to remember is that even though ur cycles may be irregular, u SHOULD take pills or anything to have ur periods (even if there's no ovule in them) cuz blood may accumulate each month and then cause CANCER...my doctor told me that. So be sure to get that :) ...also! loads of meds can help to fight ANY of these symptoms, so do not worry, u'll be fine :)

I do not know a lot about this, but I think you may want to buy some high cal bars, ensure drinks, peanut butter....nuts?? can u sneak around food? maybe u can have a snack, I do not think it would be wrong if u eat a bar n drink some ensure while kids are changing activities or anything. Also, u may try to eat a lil bit more than other to compensate. Also, have u tought about ur activity? I know by experience that summer camps require a lot of physical activity!! be careful with that!! If I were u, I would keep tons of chocolates/peanut butter and high cal muffins around...!!
Good luck with ur camp!! I couldn't go to mine (it is to support homeless kids) cuz of my ED, I was too afraid I would vomit...anyway...GOOD LUCK n HAVE FUN! :) just eat a lot! |

HI!! thanks a lot for ur advice!! Just to follow up, I am really sick...I discovered today, after writing this post that I was really sick. I had fever, a lil bit of diarrhea and quite a serious hedache that included my forehead, my eyes and my nose. Well, I guess I will need to eat more...I will start tomorrow, without doing exercise I guess...(also because I am sick). It is very difficult because I am getting nausea bcuz of the sickness...dunno if it is something serious, but with some pills my mom did stabilized my symptoms. I just wanted to thank u a lot for ur advice...I will follow up and eat at least 1700 a day...how should I raise it up? How much time does it takes the water weight to disappear? Around 2 weeks? I am scared since I weight myself everyday and suffer from edema now and then. Also...is it better to just raise it up or should I gradually raise it? I ate around 1300 today...it was a big challenge but gatorade made it up for me... I guess I should trust my body....that heating up could be a sign of my metabolism boosting up...THANKS! |

thank u all for ur advices!! This week is the only one that I actually stopped lifting I had about a month lifting because I knew that my BMR would increase with muscle tissue. But, I was also doing cardio, so my weight was not stable I guess. Would you recommend me to only do weight lifting and like...dunno, 20 min of cardio? (used to make 60). 2-3 times a week? Or first should I get better in nutrition n then start with the exercise?
