Health & Support Does BIRTH CONTROL make you gain weight? Dec 28 2007

I'm so glad this topic was brought up last June. I was doing a search engine general serach for this and these answers really helped. I'm bumping up the thread.

I'm an egg donor and they gave me birth control with a very high hormone so the mother & I could be on the same scedule.

My body is acting so oddly-just as if I were pregnant. Smells are making me sick, my stomach is constantly in a state of turmoil. Because of this, I've not eaten a lot over the last week. I have to force myself to stay over 1200 calories and yet I've gained five pounds this last week. I'm not overweight but I do have a call into the reproductive center because my clothing is getting a bit tight on me :(

Thank you all again for the answers to this question!
Weight Loss logging food items-how do YOU do it? Dec 06 2007

I have a chart I printed out (just a simple table in Word). I write things down during the day including what the food is, brand name, portion, fiber, protein, fat, calories, iron and why I ate it. Then I log in at night and type it all in :)

If anyone wants the table, I'd be happy to email it to them. I keep track of my fiber & iron because I have anemia very badly.

I think your sister's comment`s are AWFUL! While I am not "skinny", I try to always think before I say something. I know I have hurt people when I was younger, in high school. It gives a person a confidence boost to put others down, perhaps.

I would say your sister has self-confidence issues herself & she says stupid things to make herself feel better.

I just went back to volunteer at a job I quit 3 months ago & my boss said, "I see you've gained a bit of weight since you quit". He is a guy though & I'm not taking it too hard. I have gained weight & am working to be healthy and drop it.

No kids :)
The gym is 30 minutes from my home & I work at home, so that is not really an option for me. I do go bike riding though.
I think my calories are on target too, after calculating my BMR.
I'll try to watch my ratios. Thanks guys!

Thanks for the link. I burn approx. 1800 calories a day. So, to drop weight, I am suppose to deduct 500, correct? That would be right around 1300-right where I am.

I don't mind eating the same thing every day. It saves me the time and energy of trying to think of what to make :) LOL!

THank you for your help. I'll try to increase my calories without feeling guilty. Here's my normal daily schedule:

8:00am wake-up
8:30am 100 calorie granola bar
10:00am 100 calorie granola bar
11:30-12:00 grilled chicken (200 calories) & ketchup (50 calories)
2:00pm strawberries & sugar (100 calories)
4:00pm mini carrot sticks or another granola bar (100 calories)
6:00pm grilled chicken & ketchup (250 calories)
8:00pm a handful of almonds or more carrot sticks (100 calories)
9:30 140 calorie nutragrain bar
11:00pm bedtime

Sometimes I eat more strawberries or blueberries before going to bed. Once in a while I have 10 pretzels if I'm hungry.

Thanks for your help.
Motivation Help!!! What do you eat on dates? Jun 11 2006

It depends on the date. Usually grilled chicken or fish without any heavy sauces is best. A salad and baked potatoes on the side.

I usually choose the grilled chicken, with a light lemon sauce & a salad. Yum!

I'm so glad you posted this question. I'm new & don't know how to post a new thread yet. (Sorry if I'm hijacking yours!)

I started watching what I ate about three weeks ago. I'm 5'8" and started at 135. My goal weight was 125 by July. I bike or walk 3x a week & do yoga for 1 hour a week. I also do some light weight lifting 2x a week.

Up until yesterday I was 137-139. I had gained weight over the last three weeks. I have been diligent & have only went over my calorie limit of 1300 ONCE.

Today I woke up & was at 134-yeah! Hopefully my weight will keep going down.

Hi! This is my first post. I actually just started a week ago. I'm up two lbs, but I'm not too discouraged. I've been working out & biking more than I ever have & I'm hoping I'm building muscle :)

I weigh 137lb. I started at 135lb, and my goal by the end of July is 125.

Thanks! :)
