Pepper,

I remember when I was a working student. How about some new music you can listen to while you commute from job to school? Playing it can remind you of your success(es).

Stacie,

Teeshabell is so right. It is what may appear to be small changes/self control that add up and I will give you the pat on the back, especially since not eating at night is the hardest part for me. Those low cal snacks I started keeping in the house call me to eat more than 1 or 2 and I berate myself mentally if I have more than 1; however I am getting better at resisting.

OK. I am ready to keep on track today. Best to all. cat

WW 100c icecream treats and skinny cow 150c peanut butter choc ice cream sanwiches. I cannot eat just one...sometimes more! then I feel guilty like I have no self control after I stayed within calorie count all day w remaining cal for 1 or 2 treats :(

The Lounge one nite stands Aug 18 2009

The one night stand is a good question. Twice it has lead to long term relationships - both with men who have been married before. The most recent  one night stand is my current boyfriend of 7 months and we still get along great. It is a very comfortable and supportive relationship. He was extremely supportive shortly after we started dating I had open heart surgery. He was always there for me. Hope that helps. cat

Motivation Still Haven't Lost Weight Aug 13 2009

hi,

I am in the same boat as you. I think I have lost one pound since 21 July striving to keep at 1500 calories/day with minimal exercise due to feet injuries that I hope to repair by the end of the month

My 20 pound weight gain was very rapid after open heart surgery so I am just in acceptance of the fact that until I can get back to cardio and walking I will have a slow loss. Also I am much older than you (48) so probably a slower metabolism. But, we still have the same issue - Slow weight loss.

I am thinking of trying 1400c/day but when i tried it before it precluded me from a night snack of 150 -100c/eve.

Sometimes I wonder if the restaurant calc are wrong on the calorie counter. I eat out alot since I do not cook much for one.

I am also getting a digital scale to make sure I am more accurate.

My states are different:

Age:48

Begin date 21 july 2009

begin wt 176

current wt 175

goal ~40 lbs by 1 May 2010

Let's keep at it!

teeshabell,

good idea. i am impressed you can keep to 1200c/day. I tried 1400c and had to up it to 1500 because I was so hungry in the eve. i was hitting the peanut butter. keep up the creative thinking. it shows commitment.

ginasquid,

Thanks for the snack ideas. I went to the ice cream sectio nof the grocer and found Skinny cow ic sandwiches peanut butter and choc (satifies my peanutbutter obsession). Also WW icecream dipped in choc toffee. They helped this weekend for PM treats.

Bummed about my weigh-in this morning: I lost 1 pound but it is the pound I gained 2 weeks ago on vacation lol. AND I got my period. so i hope i am carrying water weight and that might explain why i did not lose more lbs.

milk in coffee: yes, those cals. add up. i just started adding them in to my daily totals the second week as i had forgotten about them.

Let's have a goodweek!

ginasquid,

You sound likeyou have overcome alot. As well, 20 lbs. overweight it could be much worse in our 40s and it sounds like you have learned alot over the past years to help you meet your goal. great guns at the gym you do 4-5xs / wk. i am swimming due to foot injury have to give-up the eliptical but at least i'm movin more lol

you know as far as having a bad day or so...I ate ice cream for 2 dinner deserts and a birthday party. I had just started cc and I was so disgusted and frustrated i ate cookies. Needless to say i gained 1 pound last week.

however. I started with new resolve monday and strategized my points better and researched the restaurants and food ahead of time carefully and I have been able to stick to 1500 calories. that may sound like alot of cal. but I should lose ea/month even though it might not be one pound per week. I am willing to accept a slower weight loss than the other posts i see.

well glad we have this support network. lets all be ever vigilent this weekend so we have a good weigh in on MondaySmile

kim,

i have never heard of an infrared sauna. i'll have to google it.

I agree with alot of previous ideas:

mani/pedi

massage - been getting them most of my adult life and they feel great. FYI drink water before and after to help flush out toxins that are released

no new play clothes yet. I just started 21 July but i like the idea of new work-out shorts/tee after I reach 10 lbs.

important for me is NOT to overspend because that will lead me to a mood that might provoke a binge.

Jaefuma,

Yeah, i recently realized I have been periodically binge eating ie a whole bag of peperidge farm cookie - sausalito last sunday -for no emotional reason! Only thing I figured was that a piece of birthday ice cream cake set off my sugar meter to high resulting in a craving. it also happened with crunchy peanut butter last night after an early dinner.

There is a binge forum/group somewhere on here that i joined. this is a recent phenomenon with me Frown but i am working on it. i dont keep those things in the house anymore.

best,

Weight Loss The No-Binging Challenge!!! Jul 30 2009
14:20 (UTC)

wow. I never thought of myself as a binger until the last few months. But a review of my eating habits has me convinced. last night I ate ~8 tb peanut butter @ ~5 pm after dinnerFrown Otherwise I would have been within mty 1500 -1700 daily calorie intake goal. Thanks for posting this thread and helping to confirm that I need to stop binging if I am to regain my healthy weight and self respect.

Health & Support oatmeal...everyday....twice? Jul 30 2009

lookinfohealth,

I agree with cowcow and others. Are there any veggies you can tolerate. salad bar from the store is easy to "make" if you don't like cookin' (i dont cook enuf).

I wish I could eat more peanut butter as it has many good qualities and is high in calories which is good for you. Have you tried it with banana yummm.

Oat meal is great to eat espec with banana, craisins, nuts etc...but not a sub for lunch or dinner.

Do you like nuts? I just read that walnuts have alot of nutrients and make a great snack. You would not need to worry about their calorie level since you need to gain.

1500 calories is a struggle for me but I have increased my intake of veggies since they are lower in calories.

Good Luck and keep on eatin"!\

Weight Loss Drink water to lose water weight? Jul 30 2009
13:54 (UTC)

kd,

Not sure of the exact reason but here is and example. After heart surgery I came home for recovery with 15 pounds of excess water weight. Not unusual since they were pupmping me with antibiotics, saline etc...

The doctors said drink 8 glasses of water/day (just like weight watchers says). My sister is a nurse and she agreed strongly.

I think of it as water helps the fat melt away - because it does work. I lost the weight but then gained some back because I started eating junk and not exercising. so here I am 3 months later! Striving to use cc and the rooms to guide meSmile

Sorry i cannot be more scientific but since it did work for me once and am on the 8 glasses of water not soda/day. Also soda has ALOT of sodium that makes you retain water.

Best!

twt11,

Yes, the previous posts are good supportive advice especially if you can exercise within your ability today/tonite. it will also help you mentally because it will reaffirm that you have not given up?

I wish i had logged on last week after I had an icecream binge on vacation but what is done is done. I gained a pound. Got back on the wagon last monday. Unfortunately I have limited ability to exercise due to feet injuries Frown but I have to work within my limits and realize it will just be a slow weight loss process for me.

I will admit trying to keep to 1500 calories/day is VERY challenging. No more peanut butter!

Don't be to hard on yourselfSmile
