| Fitness | Does anyone do "Crossfit" here? | Oct 16 2009 04:07 (UTC) |

Our Air Force Base is actively involved in crossfit. Personally I hate it. While the workouts are easy at first, you do a lot of them and can hurt yourself if you get too tired. Then they start getting harder and adding weights. I think the cocept is good, but when you are pushing people who are new at it to keep up with a more experienced group there is a problem. It can be very disheartening unless you are already physically in great shape. Just my oppinion. |

Congratulations on your weight loss! Not a lot of people would admitt to having smoked pot on a public forum like this, but your story might just convince someone else to try what you did. Smoking in general is bad for your health so whether it is to lose weight or to improve your lung capacity it is always a good decision. |

I love the person I am and the person I am aspiring to be. I want my outside to match. I am not too overweight, but at 24 years old I feel like I need to get my body and habits under control now so later when I am older it will not be so hard. I want to live to a ripe old age and not have to have hip or knee replacement surgury. I want to see the world and I want the world to see me. I want people to look at me and say how they wish the could look like me. I want to be a living example that it is possible to lose weight if you can just have the inner strength and determination that you are doing it for you and you deserve it. |

Hey, sorry to hear you are having trouble. It seems as though you have thought about all the possible reasons you seemed to have trouble losing weight. I am not an expert in any of this so I really don't have any good advice for you. I would suggest that you talk to your doctor about this. They may test your thyroid or something just to be sure the problem doesn't lie elswhere. Sorry I can't be of much help, but I hope this clears up for you soon and you start losing again. |

You could chew gum. Having something tasty in your mouth may help your cravings for the junk food. If you decide you must have something then maybe you can share it with someone. |

I love that my thread inspired you to do this! Go for it. I don't belong to a gym, so won't be taking part, but I think it might go a long way in brightening some peoples days. |

Yikes, that wasn't very nice. It is great that you buy lots of fruit and vegetables and indulging in the occasional cookie or chip is not bad. As long as you don't go crazy and are accounting for the calories in your daily amount. Seriously though. If you are really wanting a cookie, try a peice of fruit first and see if the sugar from that satisfies your craving. If not, then have a cookie. Just make sure you set an amount to have. If you go for the chips, don't take the whole bag. Take out about ten or so chips, hide the bag, and go eat the chips elsewhere. That way you are not tempted to mindlessly reach into the bag for more. Hang in there. I hope this helps you some. |

Right now I have a flute student and a clarinet student. I also am able to do saxophone lessons. It is mostly to supplement income and I am currently looking for more students. When I get out of the military I will be teaching part time while I go to school to earn a music ed degree. |

Hi guys, I like the idea of taking a picture of my self in a cute/sexy outfit and posting it for all to see. I think I will do the picture on November 1st. I also pledge to not give up. Throwing in the towel is not for me no matter how long it takes to lose weight! I tried on a gorgeous little black dress today that had tons of voo va va voom! It didn't fit my bust very well so I did not buy it, but I would love to post a picture of myself in something similar. |

Wow, I really love what you have all done with this thread! Good on you for turning it into something wonderful. Yes I have sod the bikini. However, I did wear one recently and felt OK in it. I am not really in this to look smashing in a bikini though. Like many of you I am doing this for me. I am 24 years old and can already feel my joints starting to complain more than they should. I want to be that 80 year old lady with the sun hat and gardening gloves out pottering around in a big beautiful garden. |

Thanks so much everyone! Your comments have really improved my mood. I guess I really did need a break and I think I am ready to start losing again. I have been more active lately. I have began running and walking more often. I went for a hike this weekend for two hours and swam for two hours last weekend. Calorie Count here I come, again! |

Thanks kmyla! It is people like you who stop for a second in their busy lives to offer encouragement to others that really make my day. I currently weigh 166-ish. My goal is 155. I started at 175-ish. I felt great when I was losing weight, but I seem to have gotten boared with it. I think I may have gained back a pound or two and it has me feeling a little down on myself. I really need to get back on track. I think being busy has distracted me from tracking my intake in cc. I need to refocus. I am hoping for 160 by the end of October. Congratulations on your weight loss! I am very impressed.

How incredibly rude of your co-worker to say such a thing to you! If it were me I would have probably run off and cried. I would say not to pay her any mind and that what she said should not affect you, but obviously that is not practicle. You could talk to her and let her know she hurt you by making that comment and your personal life is none of her business. People are always comparing there bodies to others. We do it to make ourselves feel better about how we look or to motivate ourselve on how we want to look. I don't know what you can do, but please stay positive. Attitude is so important when it comes to weight loss. Don't let rude judgmental people get you down and celebrate any small successes that you acheive. Hang in there and soon people will be looking at you and wishing they had your body! |

I think you made some really good points. People don't like to get left behind or to think there is a chance you think you are better than they are. I am lucky in that my family is for the most part supportive. The only thing that bugs me is my father in law uses the money he makes and takes us out to dinner nearly every weekend. I think it is a nice thing to do, but he lives with us and knows what I am doing. I think I am just crazy and paranoid, but sometimes I feel he is trying to undermine my efforts. However, I also know that it is still up to me what I put in my own body and weekends are after all my cheat days. And if for some reason he were really trying to undermine me, I am winning because I have already lost ten pounds. I think you are correct that understanding is needed in many cases. Sometimes downright honest communication can clear the air and people feel better about each other. |

I had paragard for over a year. It worked very well and was painless. I was able to be me without the horrible affects of hormonal birth control. Unfortuneatly, I had it removed yesterday. I almost never stopped bleeding. Sometimes it would stop for a week and rarely two weeks, but for the most part I was always bleeding. Unfortuneatly this can happen. I contacted the gyn office and they recommended that I give it a whole year for my body to adjust to it. It never did and I am very disapointed. What a waste of my time. Everyone's body is different and some have no problems at all. I sure hope this is the case for you. No one deserves to live through the headache I had to deal with. |

Hi everyone! I haven't abondoned you I have just been really busy. It sounds like you all have been as well. I had a routine doctors appointment today and they weighed me. 166lbs! That is a 9-10 pound loss! I am very happy about it and am feeling very motivated and am hoping my success will motivate all of you. Keep up the good work. I am only somewhat active and it is working. Keep up the good work girls it will pay off. I still have another 10-13 pounds to go, but I am feeling really encouraged. I am just curious about how far some of you have come. Feel free to post your total weight loss stats. I always find it very encouraging. |

k9stylist-That's fantastic! I bet that must make you feel wonderful when your doctor is empressed with you health and appearance. 50lbs is indeed something to be very proud of! I am glad you appointment went well. Tynersgirl-I am going to make a schedule and stick to it just to see what happens. I am going to be busy because I will be going back to school next week so I will have that to deal with as well as my job. It all just sounds like an excuse to not work out and I just can't let it be that way. My cousin will be staying with us for a while so hopefully we can work it out that we can motivate each other to exercise. |

Thanks k9stylist! Good luck at the doctors office. I sure hope they can find out what is going on so you can start to feel better. I was wondering, does anyone find it helpful to write things down? I mean like to schedule workouts and activities on a calender. I am planning on trying this just to see if having things planned out will help me be motivated more. Right now my biggest problem is the heat because I live in AZ. I enjoy being active so much more when it is outside and not in the stuffy indoors. Unfortuneately, if I do not get moving early enough it gets to be so hot it is dangerous to be excercising. Any thoughts?

A grilled cheese sandwich and some tomato soup sounds so good right now! Too bad I am out of calories...and cheese. I will have to keep that in mind for the future. It is one of my favorite meals and yet I have not had it in years. Thanks for reminding me. Good job on the cardio. Don't wear yourself out though. Sometime working the same muscle groups in a row can be bad. At least at first anyway. Lots of people jog everyday with no problems. I was able to do 42 pushups today and some squats. I have plenty of muscle, but not much endurance so running is difficult for me wherease lifting is easier. |

Oh my goodness! I am so far behind and you have all been so busy. I really need to check in more often. I feel like I have hit a plateau with my weight loss, but I could be wrong. I am going start working out more starting next week. The Air Force has gone crazy with fitness and I am just trying to catch up. Fortuneatly, the time is right to help me with my weight loss and I only have to tolerate the changes for another eight months. I think they are all good changes, I just don't want to spend the next 14 years wearing out my body so that when I am 50 I need to have all my joints replaced. LOL. Air Force PT isn't exactly low impact. Anyway, it sounds like some of you are having a bit of a rough time. Hang in there and keep up with the positive attitudes! Whatever problems we encounter in our lives they nearly all seem to be temporary ones. You will get through it. Just keep moving forward. |

Awe hang in there tracyloibl. It could be that they don't want to draw attention to the fact that you were overweight. Keep doing what you have been doing. Weight tends to be a touchy subject between spouses so perhaps your man just doesn't want to start something. Of course it does seem that he would want to complement you. Whatever the case, you are doing a fantastic job and 40 pounds is an awesome feat. Keep it up and soon you will be the envy of your friends. Then they will have to notice! |

Hi everyone! I hope you all had a good day. Yeah, skinny jeans aren't for everyone, but if you can do it you should totally flaunt it. I know I could never pull them off and I am more than OK with that. I love my curves and I like to dress in a way that plays them up. I also love ellipticals. They are really a great low impact workout that can burn a lot of calories. Sometimes I feel crummy when I splurge, but I don't let it get me too down because I know I can start over the next day. I do understand though. In a way it feels like you failed because you didn't stick with a plan and you kind of feel like you lost control of yourself. Just keep in mind that you did not fail. A momentary slip is in no way a failure! At the worst it is a temporary setback. Just pick it up and keep moving forward. On a positive not for myself, I went shopping today and felt great about it. Some things were too big! The things I really wanted to fit did. Your girls just keep going and you will make it. Don't give up due to any little setbacks and keep finding ways to motivate yourselves. |

Since I am in this group I should probably give my stats. My name is Megan and I am... 24 Years old 5'7" 170-ish lbs want to lose 15-20 pounds By the way, Panda Express' orange chicken is one of my favorite foods. Unfortuneatly, it is one of their higher calorie options. That's OK though because there are many other good options out there that are healthy. For those of you who have been losing weight, Congratulations! Even if you are not yet at your goal weights you have done a fantastic job of getting there. For those of you who are just starting like me, let's keep up the good work. We can do it! |

Hi, thanks for the PM. This sounds like a great group. I admitt that I am always afraid to weigh myself until I see signs of real weight loss. However, I did measure my waiste this morning and I have lost half and inch. Yay, something is happening! I find that eating eggs takes away my appetite so I think I should make them a part of my regular breakfast routine. The multigrain Cheerios are also pretty filling. |
