| Ok, lets start with staples.
Rice, Breads (wheat free or not depending on diet), tofu extra firm (so cheap at trader joes), Beans. Eggs (if you aren't vegan) Now. You can cook up the tofu in so many different ways. When i was in college I would have tofu pretty much every day. It's a great source of protein. you can bake it, fry it, scramble it for breakfast, grill it. It's incredible. Now add to it. I find buying frozen vegetables, even though not as fresh. they will last longer and you can mix and match meals. Edamame is really inexpensive and a great high protein snack. I feel like the key to eating a healthy veggie diet and one that wont bore you to tears is to buy those staples and then add on from there. Get some interesting condiments, that will mix up any meal. But be sure you get enough protein! if you eat eggs, boil them so you can make egg salad or just for snacks on the go. It's the best way to cook an egg considering the low heat helps lock in more of the nutrients. and FARMERS MARKET, FARMERS MARKET, FARMERS MARKET and trader joes. haha good luck! if you want some awesome recipes my boyfriend bought me this great vegan cookbook from Hawaii. the recipes are simple but the end product is fantastic! |

| Weight Loss | Size 7?! Could it be coming soon?! | Jul 16 2007 21:43 (UTC) |

| Inches really determine what size pant will fit you. I am 5'4 and 137. I wear anywhere between a size 6-9. It all depends on the cut and where it hits you at the waist. I have a good friend who is much shorter, heavier than me but her waist is smaller so she wears smaller size pants. It sounds like you are on your way to those sie 7's! Congratulations. Just a few months ago I didnt' think I'd ever get back into a 7 or let a lone a 6, (wearing one right now) but it'll happen. Once you are able to get inside of them, there is no turning back. They'll get looser! Congrats, number 7! | |||

However I am allergic to wheat and it is a definite no no for O blood types. Its a book called Eat Right 4 your Blood Type | |||

| Weight Loss | Oprah's show - I don't want to be fat!! | Aug 18 2006 17:57 (UTC) |
|
| I think the best thing a parent can do for their child is to help them focus on personality, creativity, kindness. My Mother never said to me "you are getting chubby" or anything when I was slightly heavy in elementary school. She would just say "Hey! Let's go play!" and we would. She would always say things like, you are so creative, or you always bring a smile to my face instead of "you are so pretty". She also never made food a big issue. What we were hungry to eat, she would give us all (3 kids) a bunch of simple options or we could eat the bits of food she had prepared the night before. If you didnt eat a substantial amount of supper, you couldnt have dessert or anything like that. It was a very logical approach. I always felt great about my body when I was growing up, always! I look back now and see this chubby little girl, but I never knew it, I thought I was awesome :)
On the flip side. When I grew older, my Mom and I grew super close. Around 18 or 19 she shared with me her eating disorder and then open analysis of our bodies started. We would joke around about our weight, especially my mother. This is where I think the Oprah Winfrey show had a great point. If you analyze your body in a negative way or focus too much on it in a positive way your children will pick up on this. I did. I started to overanalyze and I think my Mother realized this. She talked to me about it and we have BOTH made a conserted effort to no longer talk down or to hyperfocus on our appearance. It has made a world of difference. |

| The Lounge | My dog is bothering the neighbors, help! | Aug 18 2006 15:04 (UTC) |
|
| Meljo I am really glad you decided against the shock collar! I have to say I completely understand your situation! We have a Black Lab and a Bagle (Bassett and Beagle) at home and our ridiculous neighbors would complain and complain about them barking. I found it to be ridiculous. They are dogs, they bark. In my opinion, if someone does not like barking dogs move into an apartment complex where no animals are allowed or move out in the middle of absolute nowhere so that your ears wont be troubled. I am sorry for getting emotional about this but I just completely sympathize with you and understand how frustrating it is. On the one hand you dont want to alienate yourself from the neighbors but its your puppy, how do you tell your dog to stop barking? It would be like silencing your child when they were playing outside.
So I wish you nothing but the best of luck with training your dog and really really honor your decision not to use any type of "silencing" collar! Good luck :) |

| No stress. When you start feeding your body a normal amount again you might gain a pound or two but it will come off! Plus, it could be muscle with all the strength training you are doing. Relax and remember: You are not eating 3,500 over your maintenance. You are ok :) | |||

| Drink a lot of water and I take evening primrose oil when I remember. It really works out for me. But Water is the key! The more water you drink the more you will flush it out of your system. Sounds backwards but its the truth (I know Midol never works for me either...grr) | |||
