The Lounge Meeting Guy off the Internet...advice May 07 2007
18:33 (UTC)
Honey, go off your gut instinct.

I met the love of my life on myspace. After only like 2 weeks or so, he bought me a plane ticket to come see him, and as crazy as it was to do so, I did it. I only told my mom and she was wary about the situation but took me to the airport anyways. When I got there and saw him in person for the first time, I knew he was THE ONE! And we both kept mentioning how crazy I was for flying out there, but we were so glad I did it. (he also emailed my mother and called her and gave her his phone number, address, and the phone number to the local police department just so she would feel better).

Just be cautious.

good luck!

The Lounge I'm getting a puppy! Apr 30 2007

Congrats on the new puppy.

I work with animals and have been doing so for the majority of my life.

I have owned a border collie and now own their not so distant cousin, the Australian Shepherd.

Dont leave a border outside unattended at ANYTIME. They are extremely smart and if they are not given a task to do, or a distraction (playing frisbee/fetch with you) they will make their own fun which normally consists of destroying something or getting out of the yard. This goes for inside the house as well. They are not naturally diggers, as someone else said. They are born to work - to herd. They need a job to do ALL the time. I suggest doing some homework online or picking up a breed specific book before bringing her home so you know what to look forward to and what to avoid. Dog Training for Dummies and Dog Tricks for Dummies are both EXCELLENT books

I could overload you with information, but I wont since I must get back to work. If you'd like some more info feel free to PM me.

there are two girls about my age who come to the gym around the same time as I do, only they show up like 3 times a week at most. They dress like they're going to a fashion show and act like they think they are life sized versions of Work Out Barbie. They get on the stairmaster and go really slowly for about 10 minutes max while leaning all their weight on the handlebars the whole time. They constantly check themselves out in the mirror too. Its almost comical.

James wont be back til next February. And thats WAY too long for me to be unhappy.

I suppose I'll take the vet job and then if worse comes to worse I can get a part time job for some extra cash. There is ALWAYS something...

You know chrisannb, my grandfather probably thought the same thing... that he'd never let his needs overwhelm someone else. But he ended up suffing multiple strokes that left him unable to care for himself in even the most basic of ways, and  I can tell you that he sure never saw that coming. My mother and my grandmother took care of him night and day. they fed him, bathed him, wiped his butt, among many other things up until the day he passed on.

Point is, one day you ACTUALLY may end up in a similiar situation. While I dont believe anyone wants to opress anyone else with their needs, sometimes we do what we have to do just to survive. be nice to the dude. What you send out will come back to you ten fold, be it good or bad.

and if he's driving you so batty, why not look for another job with a younger, less talkative employer?

He's lonely, obviously and doesn't have anyone to talk to.

Give him a break... Gabbing with a 70 year old man all day may not be your ideal of fun at the workplace, but hell, you're getting paid to do it. Think of what he probably goes home to.

You will be 70 one day as well, think of how you'd feel if in the same situation.
The Lounge expensive tanning bed lotions?/ indoor tanning questions Apr 25 2007

I dont quite understand the whole paying for beds idea.

Here in dallas/fort worth, that idea is completely outdated and its all pay by the month. So for $40 a month I can use unlimited level 1 beds, level 2 beds (stronger than level 1 and have facial lamps) and I can also use Superbeds (bigger and  better than level 2 and have 4 seperate facial lamps). For about $10 each use, I can upgrade to an Ultra bed which is basically a Superbed on steriods. Can we say skin cancer?

ha!

If you have the option, I suggest finding a place that charges you monthly rather than an as you go kind of thing. This way you can start out slow and work your way up. You really shouldn't start yourself out at more than maybe 7 minutes your first go round, and even that is pushing it for your color skin. I'm inbetween pale and medium naturally, and I dont typically go for more than 9 minutes when I start from scratch. I can now go for teh maximum amount of minutes in all the beds.

As for lotions, I really like the Australian Gold line of lotions that my salon carries. Its expensive, but this stuff has multiple bronzers in it to help you get a great looking tan. The stuff I use was $60 bucks but has six different bronzers. Its called Golden Bronzing Glaze and you can probably get it on eBay for cheaper than at the store.

DO NOT use anything with oils in it. Sprays and tanning oils used for outdoor tanning ruin the beds (I used to work at a tanning salon) and really dont do you any good. Lotions may be expensive, but in my opinion, they're totally worth it.

if you do a google search for discounted tanning lotion, you'll find a bunch of sites that sale lotion wholesale.

If you have any other questions, send me a PM

good luck!
Health & Support My first cold sore :( Apr 19 2007

I've been getting cold sores since I was a young child. I actually got a medication from my dentist that cleared mine up and made them less painful.

When I cant afford meds, I normally press an ice pack to it for as long as possible, as many times a day as possible. Stay out of direct sunlight too.

Your doctor can prescribe you something to help, but it probably wont be the cheapest solution

haha try having a "Movie Tavern" where you live. Basically, its a movie & restaurant combined and at a VERY resonable price. You can get everything from appetizers, to ribs/steaks/hamburgers/salads, to brownie bottom pies or just your regular ol popcorn and candy and its all served to you while you watch the movie. Its lots of fun, but boy can you pack on the calories
Weight Loss Confused about frame size Apr 16 2007

I dont think there is a way to really figure it out unless you gauge yourself in the mirror.

If I go by either website posted, or CC's way of figuring out body size, it says I'm small framed. But if you look at my pictures, I'm more medium framed than anything. I just have teenie wrists and ankles.

Lol. Try having little skinny  legs and a very thick midsection.

I look like an orange on toothpicks. Not appealing. Gimme a second and I'll put a picture in my profile that shows my legs as proof.

You could be losing weight, but gaining muscle at the same time. And muscle weighs more than fat.

Try taking your measurments rather than using the scale. You're probably dropping inches instead of pounds

Actually, my mother and I have bought quite a few designer bags off of ebay, and they've all been authentic.

The purse you're looking at isn't new. Its a used and is most likely authentic. Is it worth paying $200 for a used LV purse though? Personally, if I'm gonna spend the money, I'd rather spend it on a new one. But thats just me.

You may need to increase your calorie intake by just a little bit. 1,200 is awfully low, and I found that out the hard way.

I too get reallytired after work. But I also take a multi-vitamin which has ZIP to do with your energy level. Try some green tea or something with some healthy caffeine.
