| Weight Loss | Anyone trying to lose weight for their wedding? I am!! | Jan 23 2007 11:46 (UTC) |

| Hey!
I'm getting married June 14th 2007! And even though I probably won't reach my goal weight by then (I have a LOT to lose), my main thing is that I want to lose weight off my arms and back because I'm wearing a corset. If I don't end up losing the weight off my legs that is less of a worry cos I'm making the biggest skirt in the world to cover it all! My outfit is all about accentuating my good bits and hiding bad bits no matter what weight I am. I've got the advantage of making my own skirt though, so can take it in whenever I wish. I can't imagine the stress of getting your dress done by a shop - I hope it all works out for those who have ordered them already! My main goals each day are to eat small portions, and eat regularly - rather than forgetting to eat and then eating a huge dinner cos I'm starving by the evening! Plus avoiding eating big loads of carbs (which of course I love!) The best of luck to all those trying to lose weight for their wedding/or for being bridesmaids etc! :-) |

| Sheesh, i tell ya, people can have their hearts in the right place but have their feet in their mouths! Most of my friends and colleagues were great about me being overweight, they'd always reassure me that I didn't need to lose any weight and looked great... but then look at me funny when I ordered chips... but I forgave them for that, cos it's human nature. Now that I'm losing weight, they're all really concerned - tut-tutting me for not eating enough and telling me I look pasty and tired! Nice! I reckon most of it is just a small amount of jealousy slipping out... when people see someone succeeding in something so hard, it's hard not to react... even if in their hearts they are happy for me. I just wish I could get one message, not 10... Don't look at me like a fatty then tell me I'm not eating enough when I diet! I'll get a complex or something! Although I must admit people are coming round now that the weight-loss is more noticable... I've even managed to get a few colleagues to join my gym! :-) |

| Hi mxm and all the other people getting married! how exciting! I'm getting married in 2007 too, in June.
And am absolutely determined not to look like a merigue about my wedding! Although I'm not wearing white so that should help matters... :-) It be great if we could all motivate each other, what a neat idea! I've got 56 more lbs to lose... a lot I know, but I've done it before (I was bigger than I am now - sheesh).... so I know I can do it again. Yay for all the people getting married next year, let's make sure we all look and feel the very best we can on our special days! x pr |

| Oh yeah, sorry I know it's myco-protein, was typing wayyy too fast at work and trying to do ten things at once. Sorry for the mix up.
I read a bit of stuff about Quorn before eating it, but I'm not particularly allergic to things in general, so gave it a go. And I gotta say, I'd rather take my chances with mould than most of the meat on sale these days. It's a real shame it's causing bad reactions in some people. |

| The secret is NUTMEG!
1 banana 5 strawberries (or a handful of blueberries or raspberries) 1/2 cup orange juice 1 pot of fruit yoghurt a squeeze of honey a sprinkling of freshly ground nutmeg I don't use milk in my smoothies, but you can if you want to... the honey and the nutmeg are the key though - Then serve over crushed ice with another sprinkling of nutmeg on top! |

| Vegetarian | Why are you vegetarian? | Jun 13 2006 12:54 (UTC) |

| My mum turned vegetarian when I was about 10 I think, so even though we were allowed to eat meat we had to use our own pan! Having been raised on vege food from then kinda got me used to it, and I prefer it - it doesn't make me feel bloated and icky like meat can. I don't call myself a vegetarian, cos I do eat meat sometimes... but for the most part I prefer to eat vege and if I buy meat/eggs they are always free-range, and organic if I can find it. And only buy it due to my family wanting it occasionally. Unfortunately I can't be vegan due to medical reasons.
My sister-in-law is strictly vegan and has been for 10 years or so... she is bringing up her children vegan... many people look terribly concerned at her for this, as if she's putting her kids at risk. However she is extremely well-read on all aspects of her veganism and nutrician and I tell ya, her two kids are so damn healthy! They never catch cold and are tall and strong! I admire her strength, as it's terribly hard to go out for dinner when there are hidden ingredients everywhere! |

| I had home-made gnocchi with a home-made tomato, onion & garlic sauce, with a grilled chopped up Quorn (*soy protein) burger on top and a load of steamed green beans. Yum.
I'm not a vegetarian, but I was brought up one, and 9 times outta 10 I eat vege cos I like it better! Tonight I'm going to have a mixed lentil dahl on organic toast! |

| I joined CC at the beginning of May, and 6 weeks down the line I've lost 14lbs... (I was 249, am now 235). It's been immensely helpful having this resource available to analyse for me... it takes all the pressure off - I don't think I just type in everything I've eaten and bingo, I can see everything in black and white!
I LOVE the recipe forum too... it's so inspiring! :-) Everyone loses weight at a different speed, there are so many factors to consider, it's just nice having somewhere like this that you're bound to find someone else in the same boat. |

| Wow that sounds good. I'm big on making chilli and we like it veggie heavy too. I never thought of putting carrots in though - I'm surprised I never did! Thanks, I'll try this out soon.

| Tried this on the weekend. Oh my gosh it made the end product so light and lovely! I made it in muffin tins, so I could ration it easily. It came out to only about 75 cals per little cake! That's less than a chocolate digestive and so much yummier! Thanks for the tip. | |||
| Recipes | How do you cook your breasts? | May 24 2006 14:51 (UTC) |

| I do everything in a steamer, it's the best invention ever. And contrary to popular belief things don't have to taste bland! With chicken breasts I make a mix of fresh basil, chillies if you've got them (or chilli flakes otherwise), lemon juice, and garlic... (and if it's not wet enough a dash of olive oil) ... then stab the chicken breasts a few times then rub the mixture all over. Put your preferred veg onto steam at the same time, put your chicken on the lower tier of the steamer first to cook, then swap them over so that your veges get the benefit of the flavours of the chicken. It goes well with a spoonful of low-fat yogurt dip topping (made from lemon juice, yoghurt, and lots of cracked pepper). The chicken is lovely and moist! I also love poaching chicken breasts in a rich tomato and red wine sauce. |
