Original Post by dondons:

I don't know how bad these are (crazy caffeine content I imagine) but I have been having the strongest cravings for unground coffee beans recently - last night I ate about a handful, and today I really want to do the same! I love the crunch...and the sort of bitter but wonderful strong taste of them. Anyone else do this??? My housemates think I am abit insane

 If you weren't a guy, I'd ask you if you're pregnant....LOL!!!

That is definately weird :)

Dairy Queen - double cheeseburger and fries. It was yummy, and no I don't regret it as it was my 'weekly' indulgence :) I've lost 13 pounds since Feb :)

I don't care.

Coming from Western Canada, I need my AAA steak once a month or I'll die from lack of red meat! I even manage to plan my calories around it so I'm not 'falling off' my healthy eating. Now, hamburger, I can give up.

MMMmmmmm.......BBQ...num num :)

Mmmmmm...that milkshake sounds yummy. I'm on my way to buy a blender this weekend so I can do smoothies, milkshakes, etc....just blend up things that are good (and good for you) and away I go!

I'm working from home at the present time, so am very lucky I can easily control and log what I'm eating. I found it really difficult when I had to carry food to work. That instant breakfast idea sounds good...I'll have to remember that when I have to start going into the office.

For meat, it's only fish and chicken for me....except when I plan once a month or so to have a New York Steak - 6 oz only. It totally fits into my daily calorie range, although the fat content is high....but meh...monthly is ok. I do love my steak :)

One thing that I completely cut out and I don't miss it at all is ice cream, chips and chip dip. I get my sweet and chocolate fix from Sorbet, and 100 cal Curves chocolate/peanut bars. I tried not to eat that stuff, but I do now as I find it really helps me keep the day on track :)

As long as it all fits into my daily calorie range, it's all good with me, although I do eat a lot of fruit and veggies.

Oh yes, and one thing I don't eat any more at all is poutine ..... used to have it about 3 times a week.

I don't see anything wrong with adding something low cal to your water.

I add a few crystals of Crystal Light (6 cal), real lemon, or slice a lemon up and add a slice of that.

Tall glass, ice cubes, .... refreshing :)

Maybe splurge on a really really niiiice glass and use it for your water too !

Man, can I relate!

I buy these dessert yogurts in single servings...and have 2 of them every evening. Lemon, chocolate, cherry chocolate...lots of flavors and each is only 50 cals.

Yum!

Editted to also say that the yogurts I buy are fat-free.

I don't really have much to add here, but I believe all of the advice given above is wonderful. I personally have not had bulimia or anorexia, but have also lived with secrets of my own behaviors that have been hurting me personally. They consumed my life with shame and guilt which directly fed into self esteem issues.

I finally dealt with some of them...in different ways. The way I deal with them is to seek help from a knowledable source such as a doctor, or a group such as AA and get a plan together in my mind as to what I'm going to do to beat whatever it is - and work the plan hard. The next step would be sitting my family down and telling them what I'm dealing with and what I'm doing about it. Not easy, but I tell you, I get more support, and at least the guilt started to go away. Once I could see some results of working whatever plan I had committed to, then the shame started to be chipped away and as a result, of course self-esteem issues as well.

Man, I'm telling you...the feeling I got each time I did deal with one behavior head-on, the feeling of FREEDOM and SELF-CONTROL is second to none.

I sincerely hope that you are able to gather the strength sooner rather than later to deal with your bulimia. You deserve to move on and open up new doorways in your life :) Please keep us updated....as there are lots of real people behind these id's that care.

I used to love the casino....slots, poker tables! And I also used to love the VLT's (video lottery terminals in the pubs in my province) way too much...to the tune that I was withdrawing on my credit card!

Well, $3000 in the hole on my credit card did it to me....I got past it and now the gambling urge is gone gone gone!

I've turned into a tightwad now too....lol.

I agree with some here that said it doesn't matter if it's fast food place or a classy restaurant. Back in the old days, I used to work in these places, and it's not the place, it's the people working there :)

On another note, I have now had food poisening from McDonalds twice. Same symptoms, dizzy, diarreah, sweats, chills, weak. First time was from a McChicken, 2nd time from a cheeseburger. I hadn't eaten at MacDonalds for about 15 years after the first time they made me sick, and wouldn't you know it, the VERY FIRST time i did, I got sick....LOL LOL LOL.

Needless to say, I WILL NOT ever grace the place with my presence again.

Start a new day and quit crying about what happened yesterday...cause there is not a damn thing you can do about yesterday....BUT....you CAN do something about today :)

Sorry if this sounds harsh and trite as well, but honestly, that's what I have to tell myself to keep my sanity when I screw up, and believe me, I do...we are all human  :)

I agree with bigtwinky that you should actually talk to a Dr. that will give you some answers. Also, there is some good reading in the 'Library' section on this site.

One other thing my trainer told me was to ensure that I'm working out hard enough (try to get close to the max heart rate) and not to go over the max heart rate, or your body starts to burn muscle.

I don't sweat it much when it comes to potatoes and corn. As long as I log everything that goes into my mouth, and I'm making my calorie target, I'm ok cause I'm still losing. Better than forcing crap down that I don't like.

I suppose I should worry about starches, etc...but I'm doing fine losing weight with this strategy.

One way I like to do potatoes is to peel and cube them, spray some tin foil with Pam, put the spuds in there with some garlic and onion powder, pepper, and 1/2 tsp of margerine. Wrap them up, put them on a pan in the oven at 400 for 20 min, and yum tum.

Hubouy....can I ever identify with what you're going through with your Dad.

I got the same thing for years....nothing about me was good enough and they didn't hesitate to snipe at me every chance they got.

They no longer do this? Why?

I was just as rude back to them every time they would snipe. Let me give you an example:

One time my parents came for dinner. I know my Dad loves ice cream, and Ma won't let him have any at home, so I bought a tub of it for dessert.

Dad looked at me and said "Why did you buy such a huge tub? (Looking straight at my stomach) Doesn't look like YOU need it." I said "Dad, let's get something straight here-this is MY HOUSE, MY BODY, MY FRIDGE, and MY ICE-CREAM. If you got a problem with that, you don't need to be here."

He left in a huff without dessert, Mom left too crying, I cried after.

BUT....that was the catalyst they needed to stop picking on me. Every time they sniped at me about anything after that, I always got up and left (sometimes in the middle of a meal) and said on my way out "I do not need to sit here and expose myself to the hurtful things some people say".

I would also only accept about every 4th invitation over to their place, and stopped inviting them here.

This went on for a couple of years. They got the hint loud and clear. They are a pleasure to be around now and I love them dearly :)

It just takes standing up for yourself. Good luck!

I agree with all the advice put up here by the rest.

I have totally been using the food log and just putting my blind faith in eating 1400-1600 calories daily, depending on how hungry I am that day.

What I have found is, once I started using the 'Analysis' function here on the food log, and eating healthier, man, it's hard to eat that many calories. I usually have to eat something in the evening to ensure that I eat at LEAST 1400 daily.

It is AMAZING how much more easier it is to lose weight by eating healthy and getting enough calories daily. I exercise 3 times a week at Curves along with it.

Shut your eyes, hang on for dear life and just do it.....and you will be AMAZED !!!! Trust.

I too looooove cheese!!! So much that I don't keep it in the house.

But to compensate, I have a 'free' meal once every 2 weeks where I pile on the calories....and have lasagne (extra cheese pleeze!).

For me, that works way better than a hunk of cheese every couple of days and oh well, I go over my calories for 2 days a month :)

1.  What are you planning to eat today?

-- I already ate...oatmeal for breakfast - reg donair for lunch - chicken salad (no dressing) from Burger King for dinner I think. I'm eating in restaurants for a few months and having quite a few challenges. Actually, work sent me out of town and it's pissing me off cause I was doing so well and I'm really finding it a challenge now.

2.  Have you ever been in a natural disaster?  (Hurricane, fire, etc.)

Tornado in Edmonton - can't remember the year.

3.  What are your nicknames?

Freddy, Butthead (my friends kid calls me that - haha...), Jan

4.  What is one of the best gifts you have ever received?

This one is easy - my daughter crocheted a bedspread for me (afghan) and made it twice as big as it needed to be so she folded it over and made it double-thickness ! I love crawling in under that in the winter :) It was her one and only big project.

5.  What are your favourite pair of shoes?

my blue runners

6.  Who are you looking forward to talking to today?

nobody - I'm in my hotel room :(

7.  What kind of car do you drive?

Ford Contour

8.  What is the one subject in school you HATED??

Biology - yucky

9.  What is your favourite season?

Fall and Spring

10. Where are you sitting right now?

At my desk in my hotel room.
