Vegetarian Dreams about eating meat Jul 02 2008

I know the feeling! But not with meat... I'm gluten intolerant and once I found out and stopped eating anything and everything with wheat/barely/rye, I started having crazy dreams about eating entire loaves of bread, boxes of donuts, pizza, anything. They were scary because they were so real. Its been several years since I gave up gluten and I rarely have those types of dreams anymore since I've settled into this g/f lifestyle.

Just give yourself time and make sure that you are getting enough protein and nutrients for a veg diet.

I feel your pain! I've had insomnia for the better part of the past several years. It comes and goes, but usually comes with stress. Have you had more stress in your life lately with work, family, or anything else you can think of?

Here are some tips that people have given me (they've never worked, but maybe you'll have some luck):

-Keep a journal or notepad near your bed, if you have thoughts spinning around in your head, write them down as a means of getting it out (i.e. a to do list of stuff that needs to be done tomorrow)

-Listen to calm music

-Stop watching tv/surfing the net at least one hour before bed time

-Go to bed the same time every night and wake up at the same time every morning

-Start a pre bedtime ritual (even if its just brushing teeth, washing the face)

-Pre bedtime meditation

-Reading

-A light pre bedtime snack

-A melatonin supplement

I hope some of those help! Keep up with the healthy diet and exercise thought, that will lead to better overall well being.

#6 and this one may offend some of you....BUT...I hate it soooo much I have to share anyway. Women who blow dry their hair in the locker room topless! I have no desire (no matter how good your body is) to look at your boobs while you stand there for 20 minutes. PLEASE put on a bra!!!

WOW! I haven't had the bad luck of seeing this before, but that would drive me insane and I WOULD say something to their faces...

But my gym annoyance is when people sit on a piece of equipment, presumably in between sets, but they just SIT there and ponder life for about 10 minutes!! You are not going to burn calories and tone your body by sitting there thinking about it! Also, I'd like to actually use that equipment for something useful...

Its about as simple as you can get: OATMEAL! Not the instant sugary stuff... Nothing beats regular oats cooked on the stove top. Also, oat bran is good too (at least I think so), its easy to prepare in the microwave, and has a TON of fiber.

Even those who've bought into vegan propaganda can enjoy ice-cream. Soy ice-cream is just as nice.

Vegan propaganda, hahaha.

I'm not a vegan, but I agree that soy ice cream is delicious. Trader Joe's has this great kind, the brand name escapes me, but its cherry soy cream with loads of bing cherries and dark chocolate chunks....

I think I just drooled a little.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?!!?!?

I live in So Cal, but I've had the good fortune to live in the UK for a while and the thought of Tesco coming over here is awesome!

Along with most other supermarkets in the UK, they have a good selection of gluten-free foods (I'm a celiac), so I hope they carry that on over here.

Thanks for the post, I'm going to check this out now...

Check your running shoes! Are they too old? Are they not the right type for your gait?

Go to a specialty running store and have them make some suggestions. Its the best investment any runner can make!

Why don't you focus on being healthy other than 'skinny.'

If your legs feel fat- go to the gym and do some weight training and try to run a little more. Pilates is also a great way to get lean muscle.

Also, if you want to feel healthier and better about yourself, try eating healthier foods. Don't limit yourself though. If there is a special treat you like, let yourself enjoy that from time to time.

Healthy is way better than skinny any day.

If you're looking to cut sugar, this might not be the best idea, BUT I like to mix plain, nonfat yogurt with a packet of flavored instant oatmeal. OMG! The mixture is creamy, sweet, delicious, AND filling!
