JCR, I feel your anguish.  What else can we do but have a better day tomorrow.  Sorry about your pain in your shoulder too.  Last night, I went out to eat.  It was so good.  I’m not going to even try to find the calories for what I ate and drank.  Coffee with rum… YUM, YUM.  I’m trying  to concentrate on how much more I could have eaten but didn’t.  I didn’t have dessert,  I didn’t have the large portion.  So considering this, maybe I did really good.  So jcr, maybe you didn’t do so bad after all either.  Right now my kitchen is closed and I’m still hungry… I’m always hungry.   Bottomless pit is what I’ve got.  Plus this cold isn’t helping all I want to do is hibernate.  I hope Friday is a better day for you and me too and try not to beat yourself up your slips.  Think of those days you didn’t slip. I’m thinking about all the food I could eat right now but won’t.  We have to be strong.  This isn’t easy.  No easy button here Damn it.

Wow, jcr! Good for you.  Tonight, I’ve brainwashed myself in thinking that because of my visit to the dentist this evening I can’t eat anything more until morning.  The whatever she put on my tooth needs several hours to harden.  I was so anxious to get out of there I forgot to ask her how long I need to wait before eating anything.

Yes Munsey, that’s a good description… “My computer just locks up every now and then on this site”.

I can honestly say I’m beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel again.  Hope is slowly creeping back into my heart.  For me, after hope comes the strength to keep me from doing the hand to mouth action.

Thank you all.

When I was a wild thing I did whatever my boyfriend did.  I married a non smoker because I knew if he smoked then so would I and eventually so would my children.

Thanks munsey and all for your welcome.

Okay, Sat I ate too little and Sun I ate a little too much.

Yesterday, I too was tempted (at my mother in law’s house: she was passing around chocolates I gallantly declined but when I got home I had to have a bowl of Cap’n Crunch with real sugar and two granola bars). I guess I haven’t come out of the closet yet with food.

Do any of you have the web connection problem I’m having?  When I’m reading comments on the forums or logging Food to my food log my internet connection will all of a sudden turn off and I have to log on to CC again to continue. This happens a lot.

Hope everyone has a great Mon.

Hi All,

I first came to CC in 2006 and lost 25 pounds in about a year.  Was very proud of myself but then hit some major disappointments in my life and have gained most of it back.  So I'm at it again... 53 years old, 5'1, hoping to get serious again.

Such athletes on this post.  Me, I happy to get 30 big minutes in.

I'm going to declare today my day off.  Every Wed. morning I go to a weigh in - motivation group (it's a 40 minute drive from my house) this morning it took an hour and a half to get there -so much traffic reasons unknown- and the scale was already packed away when I arrived.  So, I spent all afternoon driving to the meeting located in the next town.  No time or energy for my 30 min or glasses of water.  Plus, I splurged with treating myself to a cold glass of chocolate milk.  The good news is that I only went over my limit 200 calories and I lost a little more than 1 pound.  I owe my success to the site and to this post.  Thanks all  :)

figure, Saw the picture... make me puke :|

tonic, you know you could do the same with a pile of rocks in the garage-porch-or garden when you start living at home in May.  Meanwhile take a picture of your rock pile now using the same size of gravel stones when you set it up on a permanent basis.

My heart goes out to everyone who can't get a good night sleep.  I need and treasure my ZZZZZs and am a real B when I don't get enough.

Today’s Goals:

:)  Log on Food

:(  Stay within caloric limit  (I only had a large bowl of cereal with whole milk and real sugar over my limit and it was delicious.)

:)  Exercise 30 or more minutes

:)  Drink 8 to 10 glasses of water

:)  No eating after 7:00 pm

leopard, should you streach your limps in bed for 20 min or so before pulling up the covers? Just a thought I really don't know.

tonic, I've also thought about taking that stack of National Geographics and put them on the kitchen counter then as I loose take them off the stack and back into the book shelves.

figure, thanks I'm going to look into it.  :)

alevin, thanks for your support.  I'm very hopeful this time !

Good Morning Everyone :)

leapard, actually I have 15 to 20 pounds to loose in total.  I was thinking just this morning it's not like I have to move a mountain.  I weighed some books that totaled 10 pounds and took a good hard look at them and thought... I can do it.

4200 mg sodium? I can't handle such detail.  I just try to use less and hope for the best.

Hey figure, it's a cool sunny day at my house.  Today we'll go for a drive and enjoy the scenery.  Tell me about Australia. I've always wanted to go.

Ohio, you know I try to drink green tea every night.  I put 1 tablespoon of flax seed in it and a pkg of sweatener, let it soak for 10 minutes then drink the slim and crunch on the seeds.  It takes away my urge to eat popcorn or peanuts while watching TV and the seeds are so small it keeps my gaws busy for a long time.

Today’s Goals:

:)  Log on Food

:)  Stay within caloric limit

:)  Exercise 30 or more minutes

:(  Drink 8 to 10 glasses of water

Thanks Ohio,  I love your idea of putting your weight graph as your picture.  I am a yoyo.  Thanks to this site I lost 25 pounds last year and as soon as I thought I could go at it alone plus some personal disapointments in my life I've gained all but 12 of them back.  So here I am again trying to get it off.

Who is the she you are talking about? Got to be your mother or sister.  My husband isn't quite as bad.  Every time we are out he wants to fill me up with ice-cream.  At least he doesn't bring it home.

Good luck today and for the weekend too! ;]       & nbsp;

Hey lorabear,

Once a year (Christmas time when my husband's family is due to come over) I bake chocolate chip cookies and I do actually put masking tape over my mouth.

I should have used duct tape last night for I gave in to a bag of lemon flavored tortillas.  Good thing it was a small bag and only one.

I admire your being able to go to work twice a day.  I'm a retired teacher and now, the only kids I can stand are family members.  I used to be so good and really loved my work but then one day it seems I lost all tolerance for them.

I want to go back to work but not in the educational system!

Keep up your good work on... and off the job.

Hi lorabear,

I am 30 pounds thiner, in a rainforest mountain cottage, looking out over active volcanoes.

My reality is that I'm sitting here with my turtleneck pulled over my mouth to keep it from a possible binge in the kitchen.

I've got one daughter 23 who has yet to leave MY nest.  I guess I should say that it's so pleasant here at home that why leave?  I really want to get on with her own life though.  Oh well, it could always be worse.

Too bad I don't get "I Can Make you Thin".  Lora, your imagination must be incredible.

It's only 12:45 and I've eaten 1/2 of my limit.  Got to be strong!

Today, I weighed in and I've maintained since last week which is good as long as it's not a gain.

Take care Donna and Alice!

Hello, Hello, Hello!  I’m baaaaack.

It took me days to read all of your past posts but it was well worth it.  You all have inspired me again.

Kansas, I hope you’re able to get voice recognition set up soon.  I need you too… but I hope you take care of yourself first.   The speaker in my area’s weight program always tells us to say and think… Me first, me second, and me third.

I started using your honey and cinnamon tip when after three days I remembered I’m not supposed to eat anything spicy.  Cinnamon is a spice.  What a dummy I am.  I’m taking med for my case of Rosacea I also have to use sun-block when on the computer.

Welcome Kathy,  I’m 5’1”  anybody here shorter than me?

Jenika,  about good flavored smells.  I love vanilla candles and there is a chocolate factory on the way to my mother-in-laws house.  I breathe deeply every time I pass. How are you with your home gym equipment?  I’m tempted to go all the way and get one.

Carol, thanks for the strike through explanation.  I get it now too.  I also eat more the day of my morning weigh in.  I figure I’ve got all week to get into shape.  Except this week I had two binge days.  Last night I just wanted to feel full.

Moon, your so right about our pets eating limitless.  When I’m “good” my dog gets fat,  when I’m “bad” he gets skinny.  Poor thing, am I turning him into a yoyo diet dog?

Yarroc, I’ve been able to finally get it together with when we order in pizza.  I can finally limit myself to a slice per meal.  Pizza for breakfast is great!

Has any body else noticed that grit is in the word integrity.  We need lots of grit to do this life change.  I don’t know if I’ll ever get mature with food.  I hate to cook because of what food does to me.  Every once in a while I’ll give it another go and…. Nope I still hate to cook.

You know what I’m starting to do at night?  Since I like to crunch, crunch on something while I watch TV at night.  I have hot green tea and put flax seeds in it.  I also put honey in it to sweeten it.  Since I need it to be so sweat (1/2 jar of honey at least!) I use 1 tablespoon honey plus 1 pkg of sweetener.  While I wait for it to cool (I can’t eat or drink real hot temperature foods either) the seeds make a slimy substance after about 10 minutes.  I like to spoon feed myself this green tea slim and then crunch on the seeds while I zombie out in front of the tube.  It’s very relaxing.

At least I’m not binging on “bad crunch, crunch foods.

All for now.  Let’s hear it for GREEN TEA SLIM!

Kansas, you are wonderful...  Not MIA just on a secret mission.

Since I've been keeping track of food, exercise and water.  I see a direct relationship between losing weight and drinking water and exercise at least 30min per day.  So this week I'm going to make sure I do that: drink 8 to 10 glasses of water and elliptical at least 30 min a day.

My weight stayed the same last week.  So that's a win.

J: June  I will be 10 pounds lighter in June.

K: Know  I know we can can do this.  Stay strong everyone!

Partly cloudy in Costa Rica and saw it nice and clear most of the time.

Kansas, glad to help.  I used to eat peanuts as a protein, olives as a veg and cream as a milk.  Apparently, as far as the body is concerned they do the work as a fat.

So my F words have to be Friendly Fat as Fat too is important for bodily functions...just limited amounts.

Hi Lora, loved your ABCDE spell.

Hi Kansas, I couldn’t find anything about “when is the best time of day to eat protein” on the internet.  So, I’m not going to worry about it as long as I’m getting my required amount and as long as I believe it’s helping me by not eating protein after lunch.

The following is from the program that I’m in where I live, Costa Rica.  It’s a guide to what to eat, when to eat and how much to eat.  It is not a cure all.  I don’t expect it to be for everyone and I myself don’t follow it to the letter.  It is a guide and no more and incomplete at that.  I have to use common sense with the foods that are missing.  I don’t pretend to have all the answers all I know is that before I started using this guide I’d lose an average of 1 pound a week (and that was busting guts)   With this guide, I’m averaging 2 pounds a week (not busting guts).  If you’re interested, well, here it is and I hope it helps you and others here.

I'M  A  LOSER

I lost a little more than a pound this week.

jenika, yes, you have a landscape challenge alright.  I hope you keep your stone wall.  I love rocks and have them all over the place inside and out.

pollockh, demons? oh God yes.  It's a constant fight.  Prayer works also the motto, When in a pickle, eat a pickle.

kansas, I asked about stuff today at the group and they don't have a web site as I expected and told me where to look on the internet about the question of when to eat protein.  I'm going to have to get back to you on that too.

My E word: effective  Follow the rules and guidelines in this program and it will be effective.

Hi Kansas,

Where I live many people are still in the phone age (after stone age before computer age).  So no web site. Maybe I'll talk to the owner/speaker of the group tomorrow about that too.  Sounds like you were looking for the food groups list.  Ops, I'll gladly get back on it if you're interested.

I'm really anxious about my weigh in tomorrow.  My scale was stuck on 145 (I'm 5'1") and I was starting to put more importance on the numbers rather than on the food I needed so I gave it away to a recycler.  No, it wasn't my journal How to Kill the Scales.  I missed that one.

I hope to be a LOSER.

Hi everyone,

Wow, you guys were busy yesterday.  I should have checked in before now.  Anyway, I said goodbye to my bathroom scale last week.  Since I have a group weigh in where I live and my scale was never consistant I thought, it's gone.  So many times I was tempted to weigh myself (just to peek) and then realized that I can't anymore.  I found I watched myself better with the food rather than with the numbers.  So my weigh in day is Wed.

jenika, I hope to be a Loser too! My husband says that he could lose his pot belly in a month if he put his mind to it.  So why doesn't he do it?

ynnep, Looking for an cardio machine?  I love my elliptical (orbitrek).  It seems to work my butt muscles more than if I use a treadmill.  I'm just posting what's best for me and what I prefer.  The point is like levavelgem said:

Get off your butt and shut it up.

I love that song, Shut up and drive!

pollockh, your mom's right.  I miss the 9:00 to 5:00.  I went looking for a job again last year for that exact reason; to get out of the house.
