Only the doctor will know. There will come a point, different than a plateau, where you will not drop anymore weight, and might even increase in weight although you have a good deficit and work out regularly. Starvation mode triggers a psychological if not physical eating disorder, the deadliest of them. Your brain is slowly shutting off.

I definitely agree with lifeizsweet.I got it out of my system at a very early age too, and really felt like I was much more mature but yet missed out on all the later years of drinking. It came back when I started my 20s, the partying and having a drink in my hand, but I feel as though if I didn't have the "party" lifestyle I did at 14 I would be a wreck and trying to gain all I missed now. It's tougher for kids who live with stricter parents -- I've seen plenty of friends go wild like a canon once they left home, never to really be stable again.

Depends what you consider a long time. I thought this was the right way to go about it all when I got into weight loss until 2 years later I had stopped my period, developed signs of obsessions and compulsions, and little by little lost my concentration at school. The signs are not drastic. But they add up. I am still suffering from major anxiety today and health problems I never had before I even knew what a calorie is. It took me 2 years to regain my period and stop early osteoporosis, even when I turned myself around 180 degrees months after I realized my body and self was out of whack. I got my certificate in specialized nutrition and am trying to eat a raw diet as much as I can these days without going under 1,800 at 5'8. It's a ton of raw food, but spacing is the key. Vitamins can never fully give you all that actual wholesome foods can. Vitamin C and B-Complexes, along with Biotin, will be used up since they are water soluble. But anything fat-soluble (Vitamin A, K, D, etc) will live in your liver until you use them. It adds toxicity to your body since at times those aren't even used for months. Either way...if you want a vitamin, pay as much as you need to get the good stuff, no funny ingredients. Like calcium carbonate. Just sharing.

Much of society today has a distorted view on eating these days.

yes yes yes. My body can't handle sugar/fat combos very well at all, either. Digestion takes years, and let's not even talk about lactose. You just feel very lethargic and up to nothing afterwards.

It's truly more than 70% nutrition. Exercise is a health factor and benefit more than anything, plus of course it tones you and enables you to shape your body into certain forms, not considering any numbers on a scale in the least.

If the original post was meant to be encouraging...

I don't see how peeps.
I personally am not very encouraged by seeing a girl, already underweight for her stature as it is, posting her 'tips', for lack of better word, to achieving this emanciated state.

I'm just being vocal, don't bash me, but I'll take her advice when her collarbones aren't displayed for public awe.

It's just my take on it, don't bash me here.

The theory is all good though in most cases, usually applied to individuals who do not have much sense or background in the functions of the body, or who have been hypnotized by quick promises of the dieting world. Eat more, lose more, yes...but everything is relative.

You might get very bloated, and very gassy. Even if it's all healthy complex carbohydrate food you are eating, even the slighest moderate increase in fiber can really be the biggest pain.

I love it and I'm glad it's out there as a harsh contrast. It's been public before yes, but not like this.

Anoretics may see another woman who is technically classified by society as overweight, or very voluptuous, and still believe they are lesser than them and will only be equivalent with a smaller girth and waist size.

Try and pick up some Melatonin pills, all-natural without any other sleeping-aid nonsense in them. Should be at your local pharmacy.

Greasy, carby food is something a lot of college and uni kids are thanking the heavens for, to soak up all the hangover juices still lingering in your body the day after. Maybe it's an urban legend, but when the mind convinces itself...it does work. Mel's Diner, anyone?

Fitness More cardio questions! ha :) Jun 29 2007

I would not suggest HIIT until you've come a bit further into your exercise regiment, and have had time to practice endurance running, which the elliptical sadly doesn't help all too much with.

The first year I got cardio hooked, I did the elliptical ALL the time! I don't think there's any problem at all keeping it in your routine, but I would switch your cardio up. Maybe do the elliptical every second day, and try an hourly walk/jog in the mornings on the days in between. Even skip-rope jumping for about fifteen minutes will do the trick for your cardio.

Be creative :)

ALSO, haha, 1200 is waaay too long for the things you're putting your body through, girl!!
I eat 2,000 on my LOW days and I think on an average count I do much less cardio than you, and increase my weight training 2-3 times a week.

1,200 is proper nutrition for a child, survival mode. Essentially you need to look at complete ability to perform and an overall excellent health. Wouldn't hurt to up your cals (start slow :) )

Just remember to take calcium (and biotin supplements if you find hair loss to be starting up) amongst other vitamins you may be losing. It may have something to do with your estrogen levels because of your ammenorhea.

I eat back all of my calories as well. I've gotten my period less than two times in the past 1.5 years. Exercise is the culprit, your body just doesn't find it suitable to be able to allow itself to become "fertile" to carry a child during this "aggressive" lifestyle. I wouldn't fret too much about it at this point, visiting a Gyno would not hurt either. My belief is that your body will balance itself out when you ease up on the work-outs, cardio especially.
