Hi everyone! I have been super busy since last Thursday and have NOT had any time to check in. Thanks to everyone for your kind words of welcome and all your encouragement.

Congratulations Nancy on your permanent position!!! :)

Brag: I managed to eat healthy foods in spite of huge hormonal desires to eat nothing but chocolate and salt for the latter part of last week!

Desire: For my body to regulate itself as I lose weight and get healthier.

Gratitude: That I am not doing this alone because I have found that when I try to deal with things I don't know how to deal with by myself I invariably fail. So, I am grateful to have this community. So, I'm grateful to you guys even tho I'm new here and just learning what's what.

Does that make any sense???

Thanks a bunch you guys. It all makes sense when I look at your responses. . . I guess this a lot more simple than I realized. I really hate cooking for just myself, so I'm going to try making extra bits of dinner tonight so I can eat them for lunch tomorrow. I had a yogurt and some baby carrots today, but by the time I ate them I was famished and almost crazy with low blood sugar. I really don't recommend letting yourself get that hungry.

Thanks again!

Motivation Recovered anorexic needs motivation to stay healthy? Oct 08 2009

I, too am recovering from eating disorders, but I've gone too far to the other extreme and binge eat or eat nothing at all. Food has always been an all or nothing kind of thing for me. . . Recovery is a process and I don't believe anyone is ever fully "recovered", but are always in a state of recovering. Back to the point, though it's really hard to balance between these two extremes and not falling back into old ways of starvation and self harm. Learning how to make good food choices is a process, not an event so give yourself a break and take it one meal at a time. Let me know if you need anything, ok?

Hi everyone! I love this game. . .

BRAG: My husband and I have been happily married for three years and seven days!

DESIRE: To continue on this path and not give up even thought I've had a cold since last weekend and have not been to the gym since Saturday. . .  :(

GRATITUDE: To be alive, in a healthy, loving relationship with my husband and all of my family, and most of all to be making positive changes in my life today.

Thanks everyone.

And Happy Birthday to rocconess 13 for tomorrow!!!

Weight Loss hello my friends: Thanksgiving is coming up. What you can do is to eat 20 oz. of baked turkey with green vegetables Oct 07 2009

Original Post by lily42:

A serving of turkey = approx 200 cals
A serving of potatoes = approx 200 cals
A couple of servings of veggies = 200 cals
A serving of stuffing = approx 200 cals
A piece of dessert = approx 200 cals
Cushioning for extras & gravy, butter, etc. = 200 cals

Total = 1200 cals

Only turkey and greens = 1200 cals

um....I think I prefer the first one and actually enjoy my day by simply watching my portion sizes

I LOVE this!!! Weight loss isn't about self punishment; it's about living a fuller, healthier life so this is exactly what I plan for my holiday feasting. Considering that I get to go to two separate holiday get together (not on the same day thank God. . .) this is a much more sensible plan. However most of my calories will be used up at those two meals for those two days. . .   I'm kidding, it's about spending time with family and friends and enjoying the days. I can't enjoy that if I'm beating myself up and denying myself the parts of the meal I really love (it's a full on carb fest for me, screw the desserts gimme stuffing and brown sugared yammy goodness all day long. . . :)) I'll end up binging on them at another time.

So, like Lily suggests, small portions of everything and enjoying the days and not beating the crap out of myself for my humanness.

Here's a thought, why not just steam some veggies in the microvave??? It's not very festive, I know, but it's an idea. . .

And Happy Thanksgiving!

I have so many reasons for doing this, but the main one is that for the first time in my life am glad to be alive; I'm a depressive and have finally come out on the other side of the darkness. So, now that I love being alive, I want to do everything I can to stay alive for a long, long time; part of that is taking care of my body by eating healthy foods, getting plenty of exercise and generally taking better care of myself.
