I started in May and as of today have lost 12 pounds. I am looking forward to getting UNDER the 200 mark *I keep telling myself I am almost there* I have not been strict with myself either, so 12 pounds is pretty good. It is getting easier as I go.

As of tody I am 210 and 5'2", I have lost about 10 pounds since starting CC. I would love to be part of a group to help motivate and get motivation. I've been slacking...my bf says I am beautiful just the way I am. Ahhh, how sweet, I know, But I tell hime I don't feel beautiful this way. I am uncomfortable in my skin. I am starting to feel better, things fitting better, but I would like to be at 150-160 again. *sighs, remembering 150*

I'm looking forward to...most of the same things. I want to go shopping again (haven't been buying stuff for me cuz it's no fun when you're big). But mostly I just want to be healthy and feel GGOD in my own skin.

Weight Loss A little introduction... Jul 20 2006

Welcome and congrats for making the changes. My friend goes to WW and bought me the books to do it with her. I don't have the heart to tell her that I don't like the points thing, I like it here on CC-and I don't have to pay for it. I am more confortable with counting calories than points. So...I go along with her and give her the support she needs, but secretly I am here....I read your profile and I understand what BP meds can do to you too. My ex-hubby takes them and when we met he was a stick and now... Of course not all of it is the meds it is the alcohol he drank before they found out about the BP. Anyway, you are in the right place. Just be patient and you will make it, you're already well on your way.

See, I just can't decide!!!!! Congrats kbailey-you rock! Keep up the good work.

I started here the end of May and have gone down 9 lbs. (It could've been more but I have been on several vacations recently). My goal when I started was to be about 145-150. I was happy there once before. I started at 215. Since I started I have realized that my goal has become to be healthy and the number doesn't matter as much anymore. (Although I will be doing a happy dance when I get below the 200 mark:)))))

I am a diet coke junkie myself. I allow my self one in the am (I hate coffee) and then if I drink all of my water for the day I have another one. Also, I love ice cream. I have been buying the dreyer's slow churned, its a third less fat and sugar and it tastes GREAT! I love it. Instead of eating it out of the container like I used to I measure it and only have that much. The vanilla bean with fresh strawberries, ooooh yummy! Also, dreyer's popsicles-only 80 cals.

I understand all too well. I have been on CC for a little over a month nowand the biggest help to me has been to make one change at a time. Don't try to change everything or you will go nuts. I have focused on my eating habits right now and not worried about exercise so much (I hate it!!!!) It is 109 degrees today, 108 yesterday, so I cannot go out and exercise with my kids, so I will work that into my schedule after we cool down (whenver that might be:) Anyway, forget your hubby, look into the mirror and tell yourself (repeatedly) how beautiful you are (I mean literally-outloud) and keep doing that all day. I fell really low after my hubby left and it took some time to pick myself back up-you can do it!!! Look at your children and remind yourself that those beautiful babies came from YOU! And remember, you are worth it!!

I'm not big on breakfast so I have to make myself eat. Usually a granola bar and yogurt and fruit or cereal. Today, however I tried Kashi protein bar (been a little low in my protein) and was amazed how bad they were for how much they cost. I think I'm sticking with Quaker-I'll save these for days my protein is really low!

*Since starting to eat breakfast I definitely have more energy in the am*

I have gotten down to one in the morning, in lieu of coffee, and if I drink all of my water for the day I allow myself another one. Keep going, you can do it!!!!!!
Weight Loss Hello everyone!! Jul 17 2006

Welcome all!!

Need2lose-I too am fairly new, I started at the end of May and was very confused at first as well. It can be a bit overwhelming, but don't let it be. Start small. One of best bits of advice I have learned on here is make one change at a time. It really helps. Set small goals for yourself as well. When I first started I drank nothing but diet coke. This was one of my first changes. I have a diet coke in the am (I don't like coffee) and then I drink water the rest of the day. If I reach my designated amount early enough I allow myself another soda. I am awful at planning, but I have been trying to plan ahead a bit more so it makes my meals easier. Like I said try to make one change at a time either weekly or every other week. It helps. Good luck!!!
Weight Loss Help for my mom Jul 17 2006
19:08 (UTC)
Just wanted to add...

I am going thru the same thing with my mother. Last year her hubby was diagnosed borderline diabetic (his grandma and dad died from it) so he got healthy. We all bought bikes and started exercising. My mom and I were short lived, he eventually slowed down too (after losing a bunch of weight). Since I started on CC I have shared with them and everyone above is right, the best way is to set the example. One other thing might be to sit down and have a 'heart-to-heart' and ever so nicely explain how scared you are of not having your mom around. Other than weight and smoking my mom is really healthy-her dr is amazed, but being honest with her has helped (not a huge difference) but little by little she's asking me more questions and offered to do something to "help" me with my weight loss. Self-denial is strong!

Believe me I do understand...it is 107 here in cali where I live and expected to be 111 tomorrow. To me anything over 100 is just hot! I remember when I flew into Phoenix and had to deboard outside...why do they do that to you after being in the airconditioning?

I was thinking the same thing...have 1 slice of pizza and fix yourself a nice salad or fruit to go with it. That should helpe fill you up (the healthy way) and you can still eat dinner with your family. One of the biggest lessons I am learning is to not deprive myself but to do things in 'moderation.' Oh, and enjoy every bite!

Me too! I don't like to eat a salad without sunflower seeds, it adds a 'little something' I also like a handful as a snack. Not too bad for cals either.

Just before reading this I was thinking how I hadn't eaten my snacks for the day (am and pm) and that maybe I should eat them. But I was arguing with myself because I am really not that hungry today (very wierd for me because I feel like I am ALWAYS hungry). So, I decided not to eat them. It is so awesome to take control of what I eat, instead of what I eat taking control of me. Congrats on the shorts, overcoming temptation, and making healthy choices in the midst of obstacles (family can definitely be that sometimes)!!

I am right there with supersized, went I used to ead ALOT it seems I always wanted to eat. I am going throught the same thing today, I am just not hungry. Part of this could be that it's over a 100 degrees here, but I am inside in the air conditioning. Part of my problem I realized today, when I couldn't eat a snack, is that I am still eating out of habit sometimes and not when I am hungry. I am so used to snacking that I just do it. This was a good realization for me. So, you're not alone, hooray for the fact that our stomachs do indeed shrink and require less food, we just have to keep up with our minds.
Weight Loss I'm a Newbie!!! And need HELP!!! Jul 12 2006

One thing that has helped me, and I think many others, is to change one habit at a time. I was a big diet coke junkie and hardly ever drank water. That was my first step, to limit my soda's and drink the proper amount of water. I too have had a huge struggle with food, it is my addiction. I have incorporated more fruits and veggies into my diet and less processed food. Sweets have always been my weakness, so I allow for a certain amount and have switched to fat free ice cream, frozen fat free juice bars, yogurt, flavored applesauce, things like that. I try to make a change every week or so. Also, set small goals for yourself, and reward yourself for accomplishing them.
