There are quite a few things I will not eat...

Tomatoes and Onions top this list, followed closely by broccoli, cauliflower, and watermelon.

Well, if it doesn't work for you, don't eat it.  Personally, I find a lot of fruits (especially apples) extremely satisfying and they keep me full for a very long time.  I also have extremely sensitive blood sugar.  I don't ever eat chocolate or candy or cookies because I would get dizzy about an hour later when my blood sugar dropped back down.  I don't have any problems w/ fruit tho.

I like Taco Del Mar; I get the smaller size burrito w/ no sour cream or cheese and ask them to cut the usual amount of rice in half.

I can usually make a fast food burger place work too, I just don't get fries.

I would also suggest seeing a doctor.  FWIW, that is what happened to me when I discovered I was hypothyroid; I gained 15lbs in less than two months without making any changes to my eating an exercise habits.  It could be a number of things tho.  Get it checked out.

I would be way more concerned about getting lost that running into a wild animal or malicious human.  I don't know about Texas, but here in the NW you hear about a lost hiker on a weekly basis.  And, these are often experienced, well prepared hikers.

That said, I'd be fine w/ hiking alone.  Make sure you have a good map, know where you are headed, and tell someone where you'll be and when to expect you back.

Congratulations!  I love that.  Going down a size or fitting into clothes that were too tight is hugely motivating to me.  It makes my entire day when it happens.
Weight Loss Eating fiber to lose weight Sep 25 2007

Can I go slightly off topic and ask what you eat to keep your fiber up?  I eat a lot of veggies and high fiber cereal, but I still have a really hard time getting enough fiber.

I used to think that oatmeal and yogurt were so disgusting.  Now I eat them both every single day and LOVE them.

There are still a lot of vegetables I don't like and wish that I did.

Good luck to you!

I stopped counting 3 months ago and it has actually been great for me.  However, I still like the motivation and inspiration I get from the forums, so keep that option open to yourself if you need.

Weight Loss Quality vs. Quantity Sep 22 2007

I'm interested in quality over quantity.  In fact, I started losing more successfully when I stopped counting calories.  When I eat healthy and only when I'm hungry and need fuel, I just end up within a reasonable calorie range naturally.  That said, I am totally supportive of calorie counting I did count calories religiously for about 5 years, so if I need to do some quick math in my head to see where I am for the day, I can be pretty accurate.

Health & Support Does anyone here NOT weigh themselves!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sep 22 2007

Not everyone obsesses or freaks out.  Personally, I weigh myself everyday and I'm smart enough to know that a lot of things can effect my weight at a given day, so if I'm up 5lbs one day I don't freak out.  However, I need that number to keep me accountable.  If I don't weigh myself for a while, I can pretty much gaurantee that I will gain weight.

Someday I'd love to be at a point that I'm able to maintain my weight without that regular check in, but I'm not there yet.

Me too!  It's generally later in the day and I'm wearing a bunch of clothes tho, so I figure that accounts for the additional weight.  Don't worry about it.

Recently I've been getting around it by saying "Oh, I weighed myself this morning and I'm 155" or whatever current weight is.  They usually just mark that down and don't bother to weigh me.

Weight Watchers - I understand that perhaps a lot of people have had success w/ it, but I know too many people who like Weight Watchers because it's worked for them before.  They go back again and again to lose the same 20 or 30 lbs.  Sure, it may be healthier than most diets, but in terms of success I just don't see how it's any better than anything else.
Health & Support Accupuncture for Weight Loss? Sep 21 2007

It is worth asking about.  My acupuncturist focuses her weight loss treatment on nutrition advise.  She says she can treat cravings w/ the actual needles, but that isn't actually a problem for me so I haven't tried it.

This maybe boring, but I just eat them plain.  I usually pair them with a small piece of fruit as a snack.
Weight Loss Protein Bars - Expensive & High-Calorie! Dec 14 2006
00:06 (UTC)
I like the Luna bars.  I always carry them with me.  I have low blood sugar issues, and they will get my blood sugar up in a pinch if I start to get shaky.  Also, they have enough protein and fiber that they take longer to digest than a regular candy bar, so I don't have a sugar crash later on.

Hmmm...I don't spread the Laughing Cow wedges on anything.  I like them all by themselves.  However, it's true they are soft, I have to hold them kind of delicately.

Laughing Cow also makes the babybel and babybel light cheese rounds.  They are a hard cheese that you can bite into.  The light is 30 cals.

I buy both types at Trader Joe's.
Weight Loss Weighing yourself everyday: Good or Bad? Dec 13 2006

I weigh in every day, it keeps me in check.  If I go for more than a week without weighing, I can garauntee that I'll gain.  I need the scale to keep me accountable.

That said, I've totally accepted that there are aspects of my body that are out of my control and that there are going to be ups and downs that are a mystery to me.  Example:  I ate perfectly both Monday and Tuesday, all good stuff within an appropriate calorie range, and I went to the gym both days.  Nonetheless, this morning the scale showed a 2lb gain.  It sucks, but I don't sweat it.  I know from experience that it isn't going to "stick" ya know.
Weight Loss Only planning to maintain through the holidays? Dec 13 2006

It is really tough.  I have holiday parties every night for the next six nights!  After that, I'm home free and Christmas breakfast is my only diet minefield.

For me, I'd like to lose, but I won't be dissappointed if I just maintain.

Good luck to you!

My weakness is potato chips.  There isn't a flavor of chip that I don't love.  They are the only thing I absolutely cannot have in the house, I can't resist them.  I buy a single serving bag maybe once a week.

ix - I *love* etsy!
