Weight Loss Hungrier now than before the diet? Sep 02 2007
17:31 (UTC)
I haven't noticed being hungrier...but I have noticed being less hungry. The difference is I actually LET myself get hungry now before I eat. What have I noticed? That all the times before when I was eating I wasn't really hungry at all!! There is a difference between feeling hungry and feeling "empty".  You know...that "I could eat now...I'm no longer full" feeling. I know a lot of people will disagree with this, but it has worked for me.

Also I have noticed that when you eat smaller meals, you don't get AS hungry as you would if you ate a huge meal. I think it has to do with stretching the stomach to eat more. Now when I eat...I eat until I'm satisfied and try not to eat beyond that point. Then, if I am hungry again a few hours later...I can always eat again, so I never have that full, bloated feeling. That feeling I can NOT stand now so I try to avoid it at all costs.

enchantingimage, that is what I mean about being rude and defensive. What exactly has made you so angry that you feel you have to lash out at strangers on the internet? Are you sure you don't suffer from PMS?

When I changed my quote, I was simply stating that I saw that you didn't cite your resources and no one had said anything to you, so I had assumed it wasn't necessary. Where in that did I say it was your fault? Obviously I DID NOT, I said it was my fault for assuming.

You can respond to this if you want, but I'm not taking any more board space responding to you because it is obvious you just want to argue with people. Have a nice day!

My new goal is to stay right where I am and not return to my old ways of (mindlessly) eating. :)

Weight Loss Is anyone 5"1? Sep 02 2007

Also, I was always 100 or less in high school. I have been at 120+ since I had my baby 3 years ago. I can't believe I finally got below 100 again. I didn't think it was possible. :)

I still have a tummy...BUT you can no longer see it thru my clothes...so I'm happy with that.

I have a VERY small frame and unfortunately that is where I gain all my weight AND the last place it starts to go. It's like I would buy shirts that had to be a large because of my stomach...but then the arms and neckholes were WAY to big and it just looked bad.

Now all my clothes are too big for me and I can't wait to go shopping and actually ENJOY trying on clothes again. :):):)

I'm 24 years old. I started *this round* at 118+.

I currently weigh 97lbs. My goal weight was 100.

I am not really trying to lose more....but it seems to be coming off anyway. I'd like to lose my stomach but I don't know if that is possible. My only goal now is not gaining. :)

Wow, there are some rude people on this board lately.

Just because YOUR body behaves a certain way, does not mean anyone whos body reacts differently is making it up or that it's "all in their head".

One very common consequence of normal menstrual periods is uterine cramping or dysmenorrhea. While many women over 40 were told as teenagers that this is ?all in your head?, we now know that this is really all in your uterus:  dysmenorrhea is a result of increased prostaglandin production immediately before and during menses.  Mild to moderate cramping is considered normal and is usually easily treated with ibuprofen or other over-the-counter anti-inflammatory medicines.

PMS is a chronic, cyclic mood disorder distinguished by a set of physical, psychological and emotional symptoms that affects approximately four out of 10 women of childbearing age in the second half of their menstrual cycle.

Foods So have you blackballed all unhealthy foods, or do you cheat? Sep 01 2007

I wouldn't say I really eat healthy...I have, however, changed the way I eat...and how much I eat.  Whole grains make my stomach hurt...LOL.

I used to eat fast food 5 times a week...PLUS other meals thru the day. I rarely eat fried foods now. I have pretty much eliminated french fries...simply because I don't think they are worth wasting the calories on. When I do have drive-thru food now (which isn't often) I will not order an entire meal... just share with my daughter.

I have 2 cookies every night. (sometimes 3) heh I have pizza often, but I try not to eat the thicker-greasier crusts (that are so good).  I cut back on soft drinks...I used to drink them all day...now maybe 1/2 one at night.

I buy the Break-and-Bake toll house cookies and only bake 2 when I am ready to eat them. THis works because I wont be tempted to eat 5 or 6 or 7...plus they are much better warm. :)

I am not counting calories to an EXACT amount, just paying attention now to everything I eat and trying to guestimate where I am for the day to make sure I don't go over. I've lost...22 lbs since April. I'm at 96 now (the last 4 I wasn't trying to lose) and trying to stabilize.

I excersize randomly, some weeks I go to the gym every day, then sometimes I wont go for two weeks (didn't go at all this week). When I excersize I will do the eliptical for 20 or treadmill for 30, (or until I get to at least 200 cals) and then I work on my arms.

I've gone from counting every little thing that I could to just estimating everything. I'm sure I over estimate most of the time...but it's working for me.

I can't stand to be full anymore either...I feel physically disgusting when I am. It has nothing to do the weight loss either.

I may or may not have been going under my 1200...I'm not sure because I don't count EXACT, I guestimate. I have been eating "more" for the past three days because I was afraid I went under the other day. So I figured that I would not lose/gain but every morning that I get on the scale expecting a gain...I have a loss. Now that I am down to 97..I'm not sure how I'm going to stop losing because I've felt like a pig for the past 3 days and I'm still losing. Now I'm like...how much am I going to have to eat to STOP losing...I hate feeling full.
Weight Loss How much weight do you all lose monthly? Aug 18 2007

I've been consistantly losing around 4 lbs a month...it almost feels like I'm not losing because it's so slow. I started off at 118 and I'm now down to 101 so it really is coming off.

I think I've actually been losing about .4 lbs a week...sometimes but I haven't been counting exactly. Just guestimating. As long as the scale is moving down and not up I'm happy.

Weight Loss ever told you look pregnant? Jul 16 2007

When I was at my highest weight I got that A LOT! From strangers in the grocery store...to even my mom. My mom asked me once "Are you sure you aren't pregnant?" Uhh...NO! :)

All my weight does hang around the stomach area. I have a small frame so it doesn't even take much weight to make me look that way. I think at the time I was wearing a juniors size 5 in jeans. (Down to a Juniors 1 now and I finally don't look that way! :) )

^I agree. I think there are reasons they have healthy weight ranges. Everyone is built different. Everyone's weight distributes differently. Two people at the same height could both be at the same height...one would be healthier at the "lower" end of the range while the other would be healthiest at the "higer" end of the weight chart.

I love BRAK. :P

Actually, it's true that pigs are very "clean" animals. They are also very intelligent.

Something I heard is that pig's flesh is the closest to human flesh as you can get in an animal. I have heard it many times that the taste and consistency of pork is like that of human flesh. Now, I wouldn't know this for sure...and I'm NOT looking to find out. I just find it odd.

Oh, and I'm not trying to discourage anyone from eating pork. Just listing the reasons that I am glad I don't eat it. Whether they are true or not...don't care.

**The MAIN reason I do not eat pork is that my husband is Muslim, as is my daughter...**
Weight Loss bad thing about being thin at a theme park Jun 30 2007
05:54 (UTC)
I can't even sleep on my side anymore because of the knee thing! When I was preggers I heard it would be better for the baby to sleep on my side...the only way I could comfortably do that was with a pillow between my knees. I thought I was the only one with this problem...lol

I'm a total clutz...I run into things A LOT! I run my shoulders into walls frequently...ouch. Just today I was moving a bar stool in my house from the kitchen to the living room and somehow managed to ram into the wall with it, which forced the top bar into my rib cage. So yeah, even the ribs are more sensitive without the fat padding.

That's why hitting your "funny bone" hurts so much I think.

I just noticed the same thing last night when I hit my hip against something and remembered just how much it hurts when it isn't covered with fat. Now if I could just take some of the fat from my stomach and put it there...:(

I haven't had a real sweet treat since I started 2 months ago...I've been meaning to have a higher calorie day but in my mind...I'm afraid to backslide because I've come THIS far...I think gaining now would really discourage me.

But I think I need to look at it in a different way...I used to eat junk all the time and pay no attention to how much I ate. So I'm already doing better than I would be...even with the "cheat".

Yes...eat your pork...

and while your eating it I'll drive by a Hog Farm...smell that lovely smell and think of you...

*eww*

There are reasons why lots of people don't eat pork. If you love it, eat it! I'm sure it's so healthy. But is it really neccesary to make fun of people who (for whatever reason...and there are many that don't include religion OR maggots) choose not to eat it?

I'd just keep in mind the old saying "YOU ARE WHAT YOU EAT..." oink oink lol

Weight Loss formula for ideal weight?? Jun 28 2007

I think you have to take into acount a persons frame size also.

I'm 5'1...and to ME my ideal weight is 100-102. I know this because I have been at 100 before..and that is the weight I am most comfortable at.

I'm currently 107-109...and while I feel  A LOT better than I did at 120...the excess belly weight bothers me even more now. If the weight were anywhere else I'd be ok with it...I feel like the Pilsbury Dough boy! I guess that is just my reminder of how much further I really have to go.

The calculators say 105. One of them said 101-132...at 132 I am extremely overweight. (Been there...even my face was fat.)
Weight Loss Celebrities a bad example Jun 27 2007

There is nothing wrong with being thin...but when we can see every bone in your chest or back..that is a problem.

MaryKate and Ashley Olsen for example...here are two girls that seem to have everything. I actually feel sorry for them though. They WOULD be very pretty IF they didn't look like skeletons. They already look like they have the bone density of an 80 year old. They both look very sickly. They were so cute and normal looking at 13. What happened?

It's even sadder that there are people who aspire to look like that. Out of curiosity I have checked out those "Pro-ana" sites and there are many people that believe that it is NOT a disorder but instead a life style choice. That is their defense. They look at pictures of emaciated girls and use that as their "thinspiration". They want to be all bones.

I think as far as young girls go...it's not Hollywood's responsibility to "set the example" for them...it's the parents. Unfortunately, the parents have to compete with this Hollywood image. Which is not an easy task.

I used to drink like 2 cans a day or more...since I cut back, what I have noticed is the cravings for sweets and fatty foods are almost completely non-existant now! It's so weird because I've always considered myself a junk food addict. Now I'm not even tempted.
