I would suggest changing up your routine. If you are doing the same things day in and day out your body gets use to them and you won't burn as many calories as you first did because it's easier for you to do the exercise.

I really started losing the last few lbs when I majorly upped my workout routine and the intensity that I was doing it in. hth!

billy blanks has an awesome dvd out called Ab Bootcamp. It's about 35 minutes long and it really good at toning your abs.

I don't know if, at your weight, you'll lose 7lbs, but you can definitely tone up your stomach by then! The big thing is that you need to change up your routine because doing the same thing day in and out your body will grow accustomed to it and won't work as hard (and therefore not get the results you want).

hth!!

do any of you remember the big scare of that one guy predicting the huge earthquake by the New Madrid Fault in the early 90's? My coworkers were just talking about that.

I felt both the 4:30 one and the 10:15 one. I work in the TFE building downtown St. Louis - and we all felt the aftershock (at 4.5 on the scale!) pretty good. Makes you wonder how much the building shook this morning (when it was 5.2).

I drink coffee only during the work week. I'm not particular on the coffee bean, but I do like my coffeemaker because it has a built in grinder... very yummy!

I drink mine with splenda and sugar free coffee mate creamer

I sent you a message through CC...

I was also 18 and single when I had my son. I did not start out having a good job, but I still was able to become successful and accomplish what I needed to. It was hard, but I wouldn't trade it for the world. My child has been the best thing that has ever happened to me - even though it was most definitely not the right timing!

Some people are okay with abortions, but I know too many people that come out of them with the heart and soul broken for their loss; as well as a tremendous amount of guilt. I don't know if you are religious or not but I would do some serious praying / soul searching before making that kind of decision.

Fitness Trying To Gain Weight In Muscle! :) Dec 07 2007

If you're looking to build muscle I'd make sure I was getting a ton of protein...

if you're looking to gain weight I'd load up on some carbs (that's what the actresses do to gain for a part).

hth!! and thank you for you wanting to protect our country :)

Fitness how long to wait Dec 05 2007
22:22 (UTC)

For me it depends on how much I ate, and what exercise I'm gonna be doing. I don't really need to wait if I'm lifting weights but if I'm doing cardio I want to wait at least 30 min to an hour.

I would switch your cardio routine - start taking an aerobics class or use the treadmill (with a varied-intensity run). Your body may just be use to the machine and therefore aren't burning as many calories as you use to.

I would also up the time / amount of weight lifting. I know you are worried about bulking up, but really it's impossible for women (unless you have a large amount of testosterone). Weight lifting was crucial for me to lose the weight... and lifting 3lbs wasn't going to cut it.

Finally I would say to be patient! This is a process.. and you seem very dedicated so I know you are gonna figure out what works for you - just hang in there!

I'm gonna give my 2 cents because you seem like a guy with his head on straight... let's face it how many guys even think with their brains at age 22 (lol, it's a joke.. kind of!). So if you are really trying to be wise about the situation then you should consider some things...

She lied. Doesn't matter why. It shows her immaturity and if she lied when she first met you believe me it won't end there. It's a typical hs thing to do. Do you really want to be sucked into that kind of drama?

She'll be in hs for a year and 1/2. Do you remember what hs was like, and the drama that surrounds it all? Are you that bored in life that you are considering jumping back into all of that?

I dated older guys when I was 17, but I was also living on my own and a Sr in high school. And even still I'm sure he had to deal with a lot of immature bs that goes with the high school lifestyle (by the way it didn't last more than 7 months, and ended badly). If she's really that big of a catch I say be her friend until she graduates... gives her time to mature (and maybe grow out of the lying to impress you) and then the whole hs aspect doesn't affect a potentially good relationship.

Best wishes :)

Weight Loss Anyone want to offer up an explanation? Please? Nov 29 2007

my 2cents

Here are some suggestions.

I'd start wearing a device that will track your heart rate to make sure your body is burning at it's peak performance. Sometimes we don't burn as much as we think we do.

Stick with the weight training. Muscles burn more than fat; so although you may not see a drop in lbs right away you will thin down and in the long run lose more weight (besides, what's more important.. the # on the scale or how you look?)

look into your portions. Everyone's different. Some need more carbs; others, like me, need a good amount of protein to really see a difference.

Either way hang in there... weight loss takes trial and error. Hth!

lol... actually no one is eating the cookies until they get home, but there will be plenty of other goodies to consume!

The cookie exchange party works like this:

everyone brings in 6 dozen of the same cookie - and no duplicates (guests have to clear w/ me what kind of cookie). They bring their cookies to my house (and extra containers) and eat appetizers and other goodies, play games (hence the post) and get prizes... then we divide up the cookies and everyone brings home 6 dozen different kind of cookies! It's a great way to get a good combination of Christmas cookies without having to make 6 different kinds yourself. I've done it 4 years in a row now.

The Lounge Bratz Dolls: Worse Than Barbie? Nov 01 2007

Although I agree that it's a parents job to teach a child morals; part of that job as a parent is to show what is appropriate and what is not. And the Bratz dolls are not appropriate - at all. Not that Barbie is all that great herself.

Toys represent a part of our culture and what we are representing to our kids with toys like that is absolutely shameful. Does a doll have to look like a hooker to look cute or cool?? I don't think so. And if they do, then I'm gonna have to quote peaches statement about the handbasket!!

Fitness Whats your workout routine like? Nov 01 2007

I strength train 3x a week (changing the routine every 2 weeks) and cardio (elliptical or turbo kickboxing) 3 times a week. I am religious with my strength training, and typically fit in at least 2 of my 3 cardio workouts. I'm not trying to lose weight as much as toning. The number on the scale has not become all that important to me.

Here's my strength training routine that I just wrapped up (it takes about an hour to do). I've been using a personal trainer and have seen a lot of great results:

I do 2 sets of 12 with all of these except abs (2 sets of 20)

  • pullovers on ball (with 12lb free weight)
  • chest flys on incline (using 2-12lb , f.w.)
  • lateral pulldowns (40lb, on machine)
  • bent over rows (2-25lb  f.w.)
  • S-caption abductors (works shoulders, 2- 6lb f.w.)
  • rear deltoid flies (2-6lb f.w.)
  • tricep dips (machine, 110lbs)
  • rope pulldowns (machine, 40 lbs)
  • bicep pullups (machine, 110 lbs)
  • cable curls (machine, 40lbs)
  • 'good mornings' works hamstrings (30 lb bar)
  • lunges off a bench
  • donkey calf machine (60lbs)
  • standing calf machine (105lbs)
  • cable cross twists for abs (10lbs)
  • bench crunches
  • bend over twists

Weight Loss Size 5 Pants = ANGER! Nov 01 2007
13:35 (UTC)

Although the industry is trying to fool us, I also think that it depends on the cut of the pants that determines what size you are. At The Limited I can easily fit into a size 4 in Cassidy Fit Jeans, but the Drew Fit Jeans(because they are smaller through the hips and thighs) I wear a size 6. Same store, different sizing. Which I guess is good because some of my friends have the opposite problem as I have (small hip/thigh and larger stomach).

The thing I don't agree with is Jr sizing... Jr sizes are much smaller than womens. Which is aggravating considering we have so many teen girls already obsessed with their pants size - lets just shove them the rest of the way into major self-esteem problems!? ARGH!!

hey chris... a word to the wise.

Although I completely agree with you I would be very hesitant to pursue it. The reason I say this is because if they are that immature to respond in that way I'm sure they are just as immature to take their anger out on your child! I've seen it happen way to many times... best to hold your tongue than to have your child mistreated!

I personally would have taken these misspellings to a supervisor. It is very unprofessional and they need to be aware of how this teacher's notes are portraying the school. Unfortunately going to the higher up now the teacher will know who it's from - hence causing a chance of mistreatment.

Original Post by sun123:

you insist on disregarding religious truth against gay marriage but youre not entitled to cherry pick which parts of the bible matter or dont. Until it becomes legal to eat shellfish, wear clothing of blended fibers, work on sundays or have contact with a woman during her period, you cant really arbitrarily pick to dismiss the homosexuality argument.

You are mis-interpreting the bible... The bible consists of laws for the Isrealites and ones for Gentiles.. as well as laws before the completion of the law through Christ (so with the death and resurrection they are no longer applicable - the law has been made complete). I'm not trying to be demeaning (so please don't take it that way!), but you can't just pick out certain sentences from the bible and come up with your own meaning - well you can but it's not a good ground to stand on if you are trying to disqualify the bible.
