| Elin!! I'm so sorry! I felt bad after saying I just wanted to be an adoptee, because I'm willing to be a supporter and encourager, but I have limited knowledge on the ins and outs of weight loss, and I didn't make that clear. So I thought no one would want me and didn't check back! lol Sure, I'd love to be your adoptee, and I'd like to be your support as well! :-D | |||

| Wow! That is so inspiring! Thank you so much! I shall be returning to this thread often to keep my image going. You're amazing. This is a great motivator.
My goal date is set just a few days before Christmas. I want to be able to wear a beautiful mid-thigh length red dress with long sleeves, a light sweater material that softly clings. I want to wear black nylons and black heels with it, and look great. I especially want to attend a Christmas event down here that my parents and I try to make annually, and wear some cute jeans with a white turtle-neck sweater. Wow... It gives me chills to think of it. Thank you!! |

| You replied in my thread so I'll be glad to return the favor! :-D
It's fantastic that you've decided to get back on the wagon. It's brave, too, to do it with a one year old son to take care of as well. I find it gets harder to stick to it with other responsibilities. You'll do fantastic! We're all here to support you! |

| That makes me a bit happier. *grin* Eating more is always a treat. Especially when it is a guiltless treat. I've seen and had the Luna bars before. You're right, not so tasty, but worth it. Thank you! | |||

| jenniferelyse- I'm so glad your back! Whether it be a few weeks or a few years break, it's good to get back on your feet! I would like to keep in touch with you and see how you're doing. Mind if I friend you? Veevee- I have a question. I have a Gazelle Edge workout machine that tells me how many calories I burn as I exercise. As a side note, I don't totally trust it, since it doesn't take my heart rate or measurements into account and I feel I'm getting a general, rather than accurate, count. Still, it's better than nothing. So I try to burn 300 calories a day. If I burn 300, and consume 1200, are you saying I should eat 300 more to make up for what I've burned? I'd really like a refresher on how that works. Thanks! :-D |

| I wish to be an adoptee. I don't feel I have enough knowledge to be a coach, but with time I will.
I want to be slender. That's what I want. I don't know how many pounds I need to lose to get there, because I've never been there! lol But I'd like to have a space between my thighs and a slim physique. |

| I hate to say it, but for some people (including myself) it takes a lot of giving up, getting depressed, trying again, and repeating the process. It's not for nothing, though. Everytime I fall down and get back up, I've learned something new either about myself, the psychological part of weight loss, what I really want, about God's help in this, and in the meantime I'm getting stronger. You get hurt and fall down in everything that takes effort, and it only makes you stronger. Hang in there, don't expect yourself to be invincible, and remember that all this is for a cause, a reason, it has meaning. You'll get there, don't worry. It may take a while, or it may not. Whatever path you end up heading down, success is down the way. | |||

| Wow, you all have been through financial issues that were far worse than what I am going through. I'm really humbled by your incredible ingenuity. It makes me even feel better because I know that if you all survived on potatoes and groceries worth ten dollars, then there's really nothing that can't be accomplished and overcome. Thanks for that. :-)
I'm slowly learning that when you're limited on food, and you're hungry, your instinct is to eat to survive not survive to eat. The taste of the food doesn't become as important. In fact, most anything tastes good when you're limited on variety. It can seem like a miserable state to be in, at least that's how I always envisioned it, but it's actually more satisfying and rewarding this way around. I've been thinking about my water intake and I just DON'T drink enough!!! One or two glasses a day, not counting maybe tea and coffee. That's TERRIBLE! Especially if you live in the desert like I do! You guys have made me very aware of this. I'm going to work on that immediately. I do hope I don't have too much sodium in my diet. I try my best to eat lots of fruits and vegetables, meat, maybe cheese or milk, and maybe whole grain carbohydrates. I had pickles today (just two) but that was because I was famished from a day out of the house with just a banana and a hotdog in my stomach (the hotdog isn't a regular thing, just an occasional "bad" treat). And I needed 10 more calories to round off my total so far, so I ate two 5 calorie pickles. |

Thnx so much! | |||

| Hahaha! Man, believe me, I would love to mow your lawn. I could use the extra money! I believe you when you say it's an epidemic. I should exercise more... I'm horrible. I'm doing better than I used to, that's for sure. But I've slacked off. I need to make it more a part of my life, definitely. So, can you really eat a little over, and then burn it off? And say that you consumed 1200? Edit: As far as what I meant by "much weight" goes, I don't have a scale. :( So I don't see any changes, the inches aren't lessening, so I'm getting discouraged. |

| Thanks, guys, for taking this stance on this issue. There are too many weight-loss sites/forums/groups that have people who are more than willing to embrace EDs, or have no idea what a healthy amount of calories is and that they're killing themselves. I've been on some. This site is the only site I've ever been on where the people were good enough to supply correct advice and firmly stand against supporting EDs. | |||

| Vincenzo, I appreciate your opinion and you have a right to it just like any other, but I disagree. Maybe to this guy being sexy means being a size 2, but that's just his opinion. I think in America we've lost the perception of what "fat" means. Fat has turned into a degrading term anyway. But what it does mean is overweight. And that's entirely up to a doctor to decide, not the public, not someone who thinks that the only attractive type of body is a Britney Spears type of body. Why should she change for one guy when there are others out there who would appreciate her for every asset she already has? Why should anyone change for someone else? What puts him in a seat above everyone else to dictate what's "hot" and what's "not"? He's equal to everyone else, susceptible to everyone else's criticism as well (obviously from the passionate responses here lol). Well, that's my opinion. Not meaning to argue. Just felt the need to say my piece. (again...) |

| Well, all I have come up with for myself is to find stuff that will really make me full in smaller portions. I've found that beans, apples, oatmeal, and anything extremely fibrous helps me out. Milk is good as well. Also, one of my struggles is that on a bad day, if I'm even slightly hungry, my mind will scream at me that I'm starving and need to eat out the entire pantry! Well, I know that I can't be that hungry because I've had good days where, when my mind wasn't craving food, I was perfectly fine. Maybe it's also a mental battle? | |||

| Can you surf the Victoria's Secret website? Any clothing website? Maybe that'll inspire you to do well today, or simply distract you. And remember, you're stronger than you think. It's all a state of mind. I emotionally eat. I don't binge, but my struggle is somewhat similar in that boredom makes me want to eat. But just think, after all that food is gone, will you feel as good as you think you will if you give in? It takes only a few seconds to eat a candy bar. How much boredom will that cure? Then you'll be left wanting more. You feed the temptation, it will only crave more.
You're doing WONDERFUL! Don't be too hard on yourself, but know that you are a strong person and can make it through. :) |

You'll do fine timbergrove. You'll feel way better if you haven't eaten any junk food when the day is over. It'll solidify your confidence. :) |

| ~I'm wondering how you all did on your first day! If you ate a lot of junk food, did you go cold-turkey on the junk food or did you give it up over time? What nutritional grade did you get? Also, I'm wondering what other people's diet plans are like. What are your daily calorie restrictions and how many pounds per month do you plan on losing?~ Woh! A load of questions! But I love to type! And talk! So here goes. Well, my first day was pretty swell. I always start things with a strong resolution to do nearly perfectly. So I stuck to my regimen pretty well that day. As for junk food, I got over most of the junk food obstacle when I was in sixth to eighth grade, thanks to my health-conscious mom who banned most of it from our kitchen. (Thnx mom!) My first day nutritional grade, I'm assuming is what you mean, was an A- I believe. Basically my personal goal is to eat more raw, whole, complete foods, and the calorie goal c-c gave me was 1500 a day. I don't know how many pounds a month I plan on losing. My body may not respond as quickly or well as I hope. Bodies are unpredictable. However, I don't doubt that after several months I should be enjoying a much healthier me. I'm 17 btw, and there are a lot of other teens on this site (I haven't read the replies so I'm not sure how many you met yet), which is always nice. You've come to a great place! And swell job in taking this step to becoming healthier! You will feel so much better, and maybe mum will follow suit? |
