I don't see a percentage for sugar intake, just a grams count. I'm at 32 g for today.... Where are you looking?

Vegetarian Portabello Mushroom Burgers??? Jun 16 2008

Hi,

You can do them on the grill or in the oven, on a cookie sheet. You basically want to cut as much of the stem part out as possible, brush the mushroom gently to remove dirt (do not wash!), brush a little olive oil on both sides and season with salt and pepper. Then either grill them for a couple of minutes on each side or broil them for a couple of minutes on each side. They are great with roasted red peppers, which you can do at the same time, just wipe the charred black skin off before you eat the roasted pepper "flesh."

There are 2 kinds of other peanut butter, that I love and you might find easier to let yourself enjoy:

PB2, with 75% of the fat removed:

And PowerButter, with extra Omegas from Flax seeds, sold in individual packets at about 170 calories per:

Weight Loss SO confused and upset - HOW could I be gaining weight? Jun 03 2008

Don't worry yourself sick over slight gain! Buy a Spanx undergarment (like a modern-day girdle... what is that called now, shape wear?) and relax. Concentrate on getting well enough to have a good time.

Pregnancy & Parenting Trying to conceive-- How many calories to consume? Feb 18 2008

Thank you-- do you mean that you consumed only 1400 calories as maintenance? Because I've read that your "sedentary" calorie burn estimate doesn't take anything into account except basic existence (organ functioning). My sedentary burn estimate is 1700, so I'm confused about whether to eat only 1700 calories for maintenance, or will that have me very slowly losing weight? You're right... I should talk to a doctor! Embarassed

Trail mix! I love it. It's not low calorie, but it's got a lot of EFAs and protein. Try to make your own and use unsalted nuts, seeds, and unsweetened dried fruit. It travels well, it has a variety of tastes and textures, and the components can be bought in bulk.

Beans need rice or some other compatible grain in order to be a complete protein.... (Tries really hard not to say something snarky along the lines of, "Well, you've just solved the problem of world hunger... vitamin pills and nothing else! OK, I failed.)

I am also an emotional eater. It's a really tough habit to break! Can you switch to eating lower calorie, more high-fiber foods? What are your go-to foods? I always have problems when it comes to chocolate, so I found chocolate-covered popcorn... I can eat much more of that and feel really full. Herbal tea also satisfies my need for taste and consumption, but with no calories and the full feeling you get after you drink water.

Try to watch the all-or-nothing thinking, too. Just because you're having a tough time now doesn't mean you will ALWAYS have a tough time, or that you will NEVER get to your goal weight. It takes time! There will be bumps in the road. I can't conceive of losing over 90 pounds-- that's fantastic!

Another good way to avoid emotional eating is to distract yourself by doing something you like. Do you have any hobbies? Is there an area of your home that needs to be cleaned or re-organized? Do you have kids or pets who would love extra time with you?

Try not to beat yourself up! Whatever happens, you need to be kinder to yourself!

I think what you might find is that the WW cake is small and dry... at least, that's been my experience with "too good to be true" desserts. The pictures on the boxes look really promising, but the real foods rarely deliver.
Foods Where to buy pb2? Feb 09 2008

I'm eating some plain, now, on a slice of whole wheat bread. If it weren't for my love of Power Butter, I'd never buy any other sort of peanut butter. I eat Power Butter for lunch to get Omega 3s and extra protein, but PB2 definitely satisfies a peanut butter craving and makes a generous amount for about 50 calories. I can't imagine anyone thoroughly hating the stuff--- it's just too close to the real thing not to like!

Thank you for your response!

Drowned yourself in cake batter?

I know what you mean about losing momentum. Sometimes logging calories just seems like too much of a pain in the butt, but each day is a new start. Laughing

I came up with the 184 number and rounded up. I didn't add anything to the mix except pumpkin and Fiber Sure. Mine were very fudgy/cocoay. I like them! Laughing

This all rocks... I'm going to make a pumpkin chocolate cake right now! Laughing
Update: OK, you weren't kidding when you said the batter would hold its shape! They look and smell great, but I'm over my calorie limit for the day as it is. Will have to wait until tomorrow to try them. The batter tasted good, though. Very cocoa-y. I don't think they're much of a calorie-saver, though, as they have about 200 calories per cupcake without frosting, they're quite big, though, so maybe it evens out. I added Fiber Sure for extra fiber, as I do with everything I bake.

Have you investigated the Sweet 'N Low baking mixes? I'm not sure how low-cal they are, but they are sugar-free, easy to make, and the cakes do taste great. They're available in supermarkets in the diabetic foods aisle. VitaMuffins also makes some terrific tasting, low-cal cake products. If you wanted to make something from scratch, doing a Google search gets some interesting results. Good luck! Let me know what you come up with!
