Weight Loss Anyone here overweight and your hubby is pencil thin and kids thin too??? May 22 2008

I can attest to the fact that being thin doesn't mean healthy.  My sister lost a lot of weight when she was in middle school. She went from being chubby to being a size 0. But she did it still eating frech fries, hamburgers, ribs, fried foods in general, and anything else she wanted. She just ate smaller portions and exercised more. Now she's 18 and she is still eating whatever she wants. She gave blood for the first time a month or so a go. They called her to say that her cholesterol is over 200! At age 18!

I think your putting too much stock in being thin. The thing i love most about eating healthier is not the weight loss, it's the greater feeling of well being. I'm so much more optimistic, my skin glows, I never argue with my boyfriend anymore, I don't get jealous, and I sleep much better. Not that I don't appreciate loosing 30 lbs too!

Just be happy with the knowledge that you're treating your body properly.

Don't stop lifting!!! This is normal. I have small veins. I went to a plasma donation center and was rejected for the size of my veins. The woman who rejected me said that I should lift weights for a couple of months and then try again. That lifting would help. You're going in the right direction

I also saw another good suggestion of a similar vein. Go to the grocery store and pick up thoses big bags of potatoes, 15 pounds worth. Start walking around and see how far you get. That's how much you were lugging around before.

I agree with everyone so far. The solution is not loosing weight but toning up. Have you tried lifting weights? If not, start a routine up and keep doing cardio. You're body will become more lean and muscular. Congrats on loosing 40 pounds!
Pregnancy & Parenting Please help I think I'm Pregnant! Apr 17 2008

Congrats on the pregnancy hollyhills. I don't want to be negative. I just want to warn you. My mother got pregnant at the age of 21. Got married with the father and lived happily until they divorced. I love my family but I would have been a lot happier growing up with a father. Now, I know that this wont necessarily happen to you. I hope with all my heart that this is the beginning of your happily ever after story. I just want to warn you to protect yourself. You say that your boyfriend is supportive and so are your friends and family. Unfortunately, most women get burned at some point by men. Whether it's cheating, lying, or making promises that they don't keep. If you know that this man would die before he hurt you, believe him and don't let anyone tell you otherwise. If there is any doubt in your mind, I would proceed a lot more cautiously than you have been doing. So think hard and be careful and I hope this works out great for you!
Fitness What speed do you run at on the treadmill? Apr 03 2008

Don't work out at a speed that's uncomfortable! You WILL hurt yourself. If your just getting your speed back, I would recommend interval training. Run at 6.0 for a minute and jog at 5.0 for a minute. Pick whatever speeds you feel best at!

It's true that you can't pick a spot to fix. Imagine how freakish people would look! Where you loose weight is a product of your genetics. When I loose weight, it goes out of my legs first. I would just recommend doing cardio and getting a full body workout. I lift weights 2- 3 times a week and I make sure to treat all my muscles fairly.

I L-O-V-E chinese food! I couldn't live without it. When I'm being good, I get broccoli with garlic sauce. Or string beans with garlic sauce. It's amazing. Shrimp with Lobster sauce is very low cal and one of the healthier dishes too.

Look at this link. It might help

Weight Loss help, I don't think i'm losing weight fast enough Mar 25 2008

I think 8 pounds in a week is great.  If anything, I would recommend eating 2000 calories and burning off an extra 100 calories working out. This will create an additional deficit of 250. Also, make sure you weight yourself at the same time each day. You're doing great though! Good luck!
Weight Loss Stretch marks :( Mar 25 2008
12:15 (UTC)
Hi! No I don't believe you get strech marks from loosing weight. Think about it. You're shrinking so why would your skin strech. As for getting rid of them. My mother swears by coco butter. She put it on every night while she was pregnant and she doesn't have them at all. I guess that works for preventing them though I'm not sure about getting rid of them. Next time you go to the doctor, ask him/her about it. There are actually prescription cremes for that. There's even a surgery if they bother you that much.
Foods help with eating my veggies!!! Mar 06 2008

Hi! I'm sure that you don't hate all vegetables. That's like saying that you hate sandwiches. There are so many different types and ways to prepare them so that they fit your tastes. My suggestion is to try different preperation methods. For example, I will not eat boiled carrots but I love them raw. Same thing for spinach. Maybe you just haven't tried the right preparation. Raw veggies are definitely the healthiest way to go. So try a variety! I love raw carrots, broccoli, spinach, red and orange bell peppers, cauliflower. If that doesn't work for you, I would go to food.com or epicurious.com and pick a veggie recipe that is rated 5 stars until you find something you love. Make sure it isn't drench in butter though. I know everything tastes better with butter but it probably nulifies the benifit of the vegetable.
