Count me in too! October 11 is my date, and although I don't have that much to lose (I'd like to lose about 5-10, but I am at a healthy weight right now), we also have all those parties, showers, dinners, etc. coming up and it's sooo hard to stay on track! My fiancee's parents have a lake house, and we spend a lot of weekends down there, it's a calorie-fest all the time, with lots of drinking...not good for a bride to be! I'm doing the same thing as you Prietto, I'm really trying to cut down on my alcohol, that is definitely a self-control ruiner. As a tip, I started heavy weight training about 3 months ago at my gym with a personal trainer, and even though I haven't lost much weight, my body looks better than it ever has because of my muscle definition! My arms and shoulders look really good, which is great for my strapless dress-so I recommend it! |

I definitely have the infamous wide ribcage on a very tiny frame-it's very sad but my ribcage sticks out about the same as my chest! And my hips are unusually narrow, so my waist looks big in comparison even though it's only 24". I am a rectangle shape-you probably are too.
I think there's nothing we can really do to get rid of it-just keep focusing on eating healthy, working out and lifting weights-that's what makes your body look the best it possibly can! |

I just had my shower on Saturday, and we appreciated everything we got. We just moved in to our new house and were using all old kitchen stuff, so all that new stuff was awesome. I'd say just go with something that she loves, that would also be useful. The people there knew I loved wine, so I got beautiful sets of stemless wine glasses, and bottles of wine. They also know I love to bake, so I got a ton of new bakeware, and a cookie press, and all that fun stuff. I would say (and others might disagree with me) avoid giving decorator style things unless she is registered for something specific-it's sometimes hard to determine someone's taste and what they would like to display in their house, and to be honest, almost all of the things I got that were little statutes or figurines or small pieces of art, I would not have picked out myself and am having a hard time deciding what to do with them. Good luck! |

Congratulations! I'm from Buffalo, and I'm getting married in October! My fiancee and I are getting married at the Historical Society, and we hope to have an outdoor ceremony, but as I'm sure you know, October in Buffalo is hit or miss. I hope the weather holds out for you both-are you going to be outdoors? |

Ahh Sorry I'm so late! I was rewarded even though I kind of ate like crazy over the weekend-117 Tuesday morning, and I'll weigh in again tomorrow, although I ate a ton of chips tonight during girls night-and I feel awful. Oh well, drinking lots of water and moving on.
Keep up the good work everyone! |

So, I forgot to weigh in this morning, so I did it at about 10 PM. I was not looking forward to it, as I had a ton of Diet Pepsi and coffee, macaroni and cheese for dinner, so I had a ton of sodium, plus (sorry boys!) TTOM just started about an hour before I weighed in. The bad news was that I didn't lose anything, but I'm at 120...so even though technically I gained a lb it might be down tomorrow. I might check again in the am. Good work everyone, talk to you all on Thursday! |

Welcome! I would check out the fitness forum-there's a lot of people there that have similar if not the same goals as yourself-they're lifting heavy and gaining muscle. On a different note-I myself am working on lowering my bf% and building muscle-I'm not trying to lose a ton of weight although ideally I'd like to lose about 10 lbs of fat and add about 5 lbs of muscle (eventually!!!). I'm 22 and I'm getting married in October so I want to look my very best! Feel free to message me and definitely check out the fitness forum, I think you'll find a lot of useful info there. |

I also do frozen bananas, but I slice them up into a bunch of little circles, and then when they're frozen, I put a little sugar free chocolate or strawberry syrup on them, and little cool whip or light whipped cream, and it tastes just like an ice cream sundae! |

Hey there,
I've been riding for 15 years and I've been an instructor for about 5 of those. Ponies can be such brats can't they?? All kidding aside, I have to say I agree with the people you've talked to, especially if this a lesson pony used for beginner riders. Horses that rear are a danger not only to themselves if they flip over, but to anyone on their back. I know a "natural" horseman that used the water balloon trick, and I have seen it work for a few, but I have also seen some end in injury for the horse or rider, with the most extreme case being a horse that came down after the water balloon hit him, took off bucking, went around about half of the arena like this and the rider stuck with him. The horse stopped very suddenly, stood stock still for about 15 seconds, then reared so high that he did flip over backwards, pinning the rider underneath. The horse was ok except for a sore back the next day but the rider broke a rib and a leg. Not pretty. Sorry for the novel, I just want to reiterate that yes, there are ways you can try to work the rear out of a horse, but if they are prone to it, they will always have that instinct, and I personally would not feel comfortable putting kids on a pony that has the tendency to rear. I'm sorry that's probably not what you want to hear, good luck with whatever you decide to do, and keep me posted! |

I'm studying for law exams right now as well-and I feel similar to tonic-if I've been studying all day it's good for me to take a break and clear my head, and it's time well-spent that I don't have to study during! Honestly, can you really spend all day studying? I definitely can't, I'm the queen of taking mini-breaks, and I definitely feel better taking a long break to work out than 3 15 minutes breaks of surfing the internet or watching tv. Good luck to everyone on their exams-it's almost over! |

| I also definitely agree that we will be so much stronger in the end! We can use our experiences to help others that may be suffering, and I know that because of what I went through I have a much greater insight into myself and what makes me who I am-it forces us to look inward and face who we are and how we got here-and with knowledge comes power. | |||

| your post sounded exactly like what I said to my fiancee last night as I'm in bed crying after eating some cheese and crackers. I know I didn't eat that much, I was still under maintenance, I worked out hard at the gym, but I still felt awful. I used those exact words..."I just want to be normal again."
I wish I had more answers for you-I don't know if we will ever fully go back to where we were before ed...now that we know so much about nutrition I don't think we'll ever forget it, and maybe in some small way that could be a good thing-think about how many people have started calorie-counting to be healthier and to make smarter choices about what they eat-we have a head start on being really healthy for the rest of our lives as long as we stop taking it to extremes. But, I can say that although I'm definitely suffering a bit of a setback right now due to the ridiculous amount of stress happening in my life, I have been at the point where my ed voices had faded to the background of my day-it was still there, and I still had to carefully choose everything I ate and count calories, but the hatefulness towards myself had definitely lessened and I felt like I was just a "normal" person trying to make healthy choices. So it is possible! Hang in there, it's a long road but it will be worth it in the end, pm me if you ever need to talk! |

| I rescued my purebred pom, and she is the best dog I have ever had. She's extremely smart, she knows tons of tricks and she's very affectionate (she loves me the most which I love!) I've been told that poms are unlike other small dogs in that they're not yappy, and they're not pocket piranhas (they don't freak out when someone comes near their owner, and they don't shake like crazy). I have found that with Delilah, this is true. She is almost a year and a half, and the only problem that I have with her is that she does like to chew things, probably more than other dogs I've had, but I've remedied this by giving her a giant rawhide-she can barely carry it around, but with the flavor it interests her more than anything else she might want to chew that she shouldn't.
My fiancee works 2nd shift, and I love having her to keep me company while I'm home alone doing work (I'm in law school so I don't go out that much during the week), and although it sounds silly, my 7 lb dog is a great watchdog-she always lets me know if someone's coming to the house. I tell people she's my best friend, and my fiancee and I crack up at all the funny things she does-she definitely has the most personality of any dog I've ever met, and my mom now wants one for her next dog. However, after getting Delilah, my best friend got a pom too, a male, and she has had a hard time. I have owned dogs all my life, trained horses, etc., so I have a lot of experience with animals. She had none, her parents have one dog that she doesn't really do anything with. She has the dog with her at her college apartment, and he has severe separation anxiety and barks a lot. He's over a year old and she hasn't even trained him to come when she calls him. So I think it depends on how much research you do, how much work you are willing to put in, etc., but I think they're worth it! Anyway, obviously I recommend them! PS-cesty, do they really stop chewing so much after 2 years old? I love Delilah but I am sick about (sorry this is kind of gross) all of my beautiful VS underwear she's ruined! And a couple of bras and one pair of shoes...it's always my stuff never my fiancees. |

| The Lounge | Human hair extension - anyone have this done? How did you handle it? | Mar 28 2008 01:16 (UTC) |

| I've heard the same things as niss about the more permanent extensions. I have the jessica simpson 22' human hair clip in extensions and I LOVE them! They match my hair perfectly, I got them cut to blend with the layers in my hair, and no one knows that it's not my real hair. I wear them every day, and I've been wearing them for so long now that I think I look funny without them! They wash great, you can flat iron them, curl them, etc. Maybe a smart way to go would be to get the clip in ones first, see if you like them, and then if you're really ready to commit to the other ones, and you've done all your research, then go for it. | |||

| Hey Pops! You sound just like me!
I'm 22, getting married in October, and have chronic disc issues stemming from a fall off a horse about 8 years ago. I had a pretty bad time about a month ago-couldn't even roll over in bed for a few days. I see a chiropractor now and have started weight lifting once I could move again and have had no issues-what kind of treatment are you doing? Once you're feeling better I would suggest weights-my doctor and my chiropractor said a strong back and core is key if I don't want to end up having surgery before I'm 30. I love this thread, congratulations to all the beautiful brides-to-be! |

| I also think a lot of those replies come when an op says "I do cardio for 85 minutes 5-6 days a week and I'm not losing weight" or "I do 5000 crunches a day and I don't have a six-pack yet-why not?"
Then people come on and say what they know-that is that heavier weight lifting is the best way to burn fat, build muscle, gain strength, etc. If you have a certain type of program that is working for you, and you enjoy it and see progress, then that's great! For the people that aren't happy with their progress and haven't tried lifting b/c they don't know how, or think it's only for guys, or think that the best way to burn fat is to do endless hours of cardio, they might want to try it-I did and my body has changed completely! |

I love them too! I have a love-hate relationship with my Uggs. The funniest thing is when I'm not wearing them, I'm always in heels. From one extreme to the other. |

| I started relapsing right as I started dating someone new. He stuck with me through the most awful time in my life-one of the most vivid memories of that time was him sitting behind me on the couch and spending 2 hours with me crying while helping me get through eating a lean cuisine-he would bring the fork to my mouth when I just couldn't. he drove 6 hours to visit me every weekend when I had to go inpatient. Now, I'm almost fully recovered, I'm the student representative at my law school for students with any kind of eating disorder, substance abuse problem, etc., and that guy that helped me through it?
