| I don't think it really matters all that much. You could change week by week or day by day. What I like to do is use the different programs on the elliptical each time I use it. (Interval, Hill Interval, Weight Loss...) |

| Foods | Too much protein? | Apr 14 2007 01:51 (UTC) |

| For bodybuilding they usually recommend 1g protein per pound of bodyweight. Some even say 1.5g per pound, but I am positive that had to be overkill. I usually drink 3~4 liters of water so that is not a concern. I know there are a couple of REAL bodybuilders (I only aspire) that lurk on here.... |

| Weight Loss | do you eat before you go to bed? | Apr 11 2007 22:11 (UTC) |

| Cottage cheese is one of my favorite foods which is very convenient because it one of the best foods you can eat. I usually have a cup of fat free before bed on days that I lift, which gives me around 30g of slow processing protein for reparing while I sleep. On non lifting days I'll have closer to .5~.75 cup. | |||

| I think it tastes great. The diet lipton green tea with citrus is what I buy. Although I tend to think that this whole green tea rage is a bunch of hype and don't beleive its health benefits to be all that much greater than that of water. |

| I am pretty sure calories from fat is just telling you how many of the total calories are fat calories. So in your example, 80 of the 220 calories are from fat, so 220-80 = 140 140 of the calories would then have to come from either carbs or protein. I'm not exactly sure as to why this is listed, other than the fact that when the fat calories nears the total calories, its a quick way to tell that its a high fat (read: should avoid) food. |

| Also I saw someone mention that they knew V8 drinks to be high in sodium. Well this stuff only has... I beleive it was 80 mg? So that's not bad at all. | |||

| I find the Optimum 100% Whey protein to be very good, also. At least the chocolate flavor tastes great. I mix it with skim milk as part of my postlift meal. I made the mistake of buying a 5lb tub of the stuff they sell at Sam's Club/Walmart and it tasted terrible compared to the Optimum. So I mix a quarter scoop of that with a whole scoop of Optimum and can't really tell. |

I suffer from the same problem. I'll go out and party with friends and it ALWAYS leads to coming home and ordering pizza or hitting up a 24 hour fast food joint. I counteract it by eating a couple hundred calories less than the recommended calories for losing weight during the week. That or do extra cardio during the weeks when I know I will be going out that particular weekend (which tends to be every weekend since I'm a 21 yo and @ university). Now I know I'm probably going to get some posts by the "lifestyle purists" out there... But I'm a college kid and I'm going to live life for a couple years! My current maintainence is 2700ish calories, so I think that's why I'm able to do this. I wouldn't recommend my strategy if your allowance is under 1500 cals. |

| Foods | ezekial bread!!! pretty good | Mar 09 2007 00:11 (UTC) |

| I just picked up a loaf at my local grocery store and am just loving this bread! 4g protein per slice, very nice! How long will this bread last on the counter? It was frozen when I bought it so I'm assuming that it may spoil easily? or was it just frozen since they probably don't move these all too fast? Its funny to think that all the wheat bread I've been eating probably hasn't been all that healthy. Looking at some of the labels, most "whole wheat" bread's main ingredient is enriched wheat flour. I'm assuming the wheat bread at places like subway/others is the same deal? |

| Fitness | cardio every other day.... | Jan 31 2007 23:00 (UTC) |

| It really depends on your goals. First of all, if you are just starting/resuming your training every other day is probably preferable so as to avoid burnout. Just maintain your everyother day for a month or so and then you might realize that you have more energy daily and can start going more often.
If you have been doing regular cardio for awhile, its just a matter of how quickly you want to lose the weight... Some people will say not to go more than everyother day because it isn't as healthy for you(you lose weight[read:muscle] too quickly). Personally I have never had a week where I lost more than the "~2lb healthy maximum" so from my experience I don't put a restriction on my cardio. |

| I don't think anything besides walking/light jogging should be done for 300+ persons. There is just too much weight stressing your joints at that point. My personal max was ~310(male). I think the best thing at that point (it worked for me) is to control your diet to lose the first 25 pounds or so. With the change in eating habits I was able to get down to about 280~285. I then started rollerblading, and along with dieting I dropped down to 275. At this point I started working in the gym, running 2-3 times per week and weight lifting 2-3 times per week. I am now 250 and have learned to enjoy working out in the gym. My goal now is to get below HS football playing weight (235). Being I am young (21), it probably wouldn't be a bad idea to lose more weight initally from diet alone if you are older. I don't know what it feels like to be "old" but I hear exercise gets more taxing on your body as you age. This may be more bragging than anything(I haven't really discussed this with anyone), but I think there is some good advice for what has actually worked for someone. |
