| Fitness | Anyone want to do the Couch to 5K plan with me? | Jun 06 2009 17:50 (UTC) |

I'm on week 3 myself. My mom, sister, and I are all running a 5k in July. I'm a little nervous since I've never been a runner, but I'm excited as well. After looking at this I'm really glad I decided to train outside rather than on a treadmill. It really is a lot harder to run outside. So, wish me luck! |

I have always been a night eater. I get really munchy and hungry about an hour before I go to bed. Some tricks I've been using are drinking yummy things like tea or crystal light and eating sugar-free jello. I also sometimes plan it into my day and go a little lighter during the day so I can have that treat I want before bed. I have found it's better to work with your cravings rather than try to ignore them completely. When I make up my mind that I'm not going to eat at night, that's when I go crazy and eat the entire box of macaroni and cheese. But, if I plan on it and let myself have a little something, it keeps me happy and I don't go nuts. |

| Weight Loss | 140 to 115 | Sep 26 2007 18:40 (UTC) |

Wow, you sound very similar to me. I'm 5'3" and I started at 141 lbs. I am now at 121 with my final goal being 115. Just follow the basic advice here. Log your calories, stay active (even if it's not going to a gym), and my biggest key is don't take it too seriously. I stick to 1200-1300 calories on an average day, but I probably have one day a week where I just say screw it all. And because I stay low on those other days, I don't have to feel guilty about having that extra glass of wine, or splitting a dessert with my boyfriend. Most of all, just believe that you can do it. Be patient. My weight loss definately came in spurts where I wouldn't lose anything for a couple weeks, then all of a sudden be down 5 lbs. Good luck! |

| This just happened to me this weekend! I knew I had gotten smaller and that my pants were a little too big, but finding I'd gone from an 8/10 down to 4 almost made me fall over. I definately know what you mean about it being a motivater. Now that I've reached my goal weight I can wait to really tone up and look even better! | |||
| Weight Loss | Article I found... "Fast Road to Fat City"... | Sep 14 2007 17:46 (UTC) |

| Did anyone else look at the color coded map at the end? It seems that obesity rates are almost directly correlated to income levels. The poorest states are the fattest, and the richest states are the thinnest. | |||

| Foods | quaker instant oatmeal? | Sep 01 2007 16:36 (UTC) |

| I have instant oatmeal for breakfast almost every day at work. It's easy, I can store it on my shelf, it fills me up, and it certainly hasn't stopped my weight loss. | |||

| Weight Loss | Anyone else EXTRA moody.... | Aug 17 2007 00:13 (UTC) |

| I think it's pretty normal. I got really moody when I started, and sometimes it comes back if I've been really strict. It does get easier though, and I actually found the more exercise I got the better. My boyfriend definately made some similar comments about me being crabby since I started dieting. But, just ask for your husband's support while your body gets used to the changes, and I'm sure he will give it! | |||
| Weight Loss | college grads! | Aug 15 2007 22:00 (UTC) |

| I know I gained all my weight AFTER college (I went to Illinois Wesleyan). In college I was running around 15 hours a day, taking 2 dance classes a day, movement classes, etc. It was once I went to the real world that everything hit me. I used to think I could eat anything! Sometimes I really wish I could go back to those days... | |||

| It seems like a lot of people here love their eyelashes....wish it were me! As for physically I've got great boobs. Shallow I know, but it's the one thing I've always felt good about myself looks wise. I'm also smart and musical, which is something I"ve always been and will always be no matter what I look like. Plus I'm good at managing money. I certainly don't have much of it, but I'm very responsible with the bit that I have! | |||

| Yay! I'm 5'3" and my goal weight is 120 also. I'm at about 130 now after losing 12 pounds so far. I'm always up for some motivation and for giving support. Let me know if there's anything I can do. | |||

| I generally eat between 1200 when I don't work out, 1400 when I do. I run about 3 times per week and do some light resistance work. I'm pretty sure my weight loss stopped because of weddings and family vacation all within the last month. But I've been back to it seriously for a week now and have seen another pound go! | |||

| Hi! You are almost exactly like me when I started. I'm 27 5'3" and I started at 142. I'm down to 130 now, and that seems to be my magic plateau number. Ideally I'd like to reach 120, so we'll see how that goes. It sounds like what you're doing is great. It's pretty similar to what I've been doing, although I don't up my calories quite that much when I work out (which is also not quite as much as you.) Best of luck to you! | |||
| Weight Loss | The Lemonade Diet / Master Cleanse / Detox | Aug 14 2007 19:17 (UTC) |

| Just wanted to send my support. I did the lemonade diet when I figured out that my eating was just spinning completely out of control. It helped me break out of that cycle, and I've been eating healthy ever since I finished about 6 months ago. I think it can be a great tool depending on what you want to accomplish. Yes, you WILL gain back any weight you lost while doing it, but it can be a pretty neat emotional experience. Just make sure you take it easy and don't push yourself physically while you're fasting. I used a lot of meditation while I was fasting, and it helped a lot. | |||
