Weight Loss NOVEMBER GOAL THREAD! Nov 01 2006
19:27 (UTC)
2
I've gotten super lazy and unmotivated lately. In fact, I haven't been counting cals or really caring for the past 2-3 weeks. I think I got burnt out from being so strict, but not seeing any changes in my weight.

So for November, I'm trying to stay positive and get my motivation back. These are my goals:

1) Run 3 times per week
2) Drink plenty of water everyday
3) Don't eat candy or desserts if they're not worth it (only high quality treats, no more junky stuff just cause it's there)

Good luck with your goals everyone!!!

Haha. Well...I hope I am, too. Then at least I'll know there's nothing wrong with me and that it's not my fault that I'm gaining weight! Plus...a baby! Haha.

Athena: Definitely not pregnant! Haha. As for your questions - I'm 5'6", I try to stay under 2400mg of sodium, and I've been measuring basically every possible inch of my body. Haha. But you're right, I may have to consult a doctor on this if things keep on going the way they've been going.

Christen: Haha! You crack me up! Maybe we can get a 2-for-1 deal on the lipo?

DanceGirl: I'll add you too! I have gone several weeks in a row before without a "cheat" day...so I don't know about that being the problem. I really thought running would help me slim down more quickly...but maybe I do just need to stick with it for longer. I have some pilates dvds...maybe I'll start doing those a couple times a week and see if anything happens.

M3lody: I definitely have fat on me! Maybe I should post some pics of my cellulite and muffin tops? Haha!

Gypsy: Haha - you people and your pregnancy theories! Cracks me up. I guess it's possible - but I've been having normal periods and just had one a couple of weeks ago. Maybe I'll take a test just for fun to put everyone's mind at ease. :)

As for my "days off" I never go totally crazy or anything. I doubt I go over 2000 for that day. Usually it just means I'll have a piece of birthday cake or a meal at a restaurant. I still try to be conscious of portion size, etc, even on those days.

Thank you guys who have replied so far...if anything at least you've put a smile on my face!

Yes!!! I have this problem and it drives me nuts! I've tried lifting my feet, loosening my shoelaces and trying to put my weight more on my heels but nothing helps. It's really annoying because I'd like to be able to use the elliptical for longer than 15-20 minutes but my feet bother me too much and I have to stop. :(

Sorry I don't have a solution...but at least you know you're not alone!

I usually just have something small like a banana or a Luna bar.  Definitely makes the workout easier if you have something fueling your body!

  1. Be able to run at least 1.5 miles non-stop (by doing my running training 3 days per week).
  2. Break 140 lbs (approx 4 lbs to lose).
  3. Drink 100+ oz on weekends (I do great on weekdays already).
  4. Have minimum of 500 calorie deficit everyday day (except for my birthday, hubby's birthday and our anniversary. I can be at maintenance those days. :) ).
  5. Start an ab routine and do it at least 5 days per week.
Good luck everyone! I have a feeling that September will be a GREAT month!

Today I drank over 135 oz of water (thanks to christen) and I seriously needed to go the bathroom every half hour, but I was only able to go about every hour (have to have someone watch the phone while I'm out). It was really annoying, but I'll keep it up and hopefully it'll get better! Got to stretch that bladder out a bit or something.

I've considered taking to stairs to my office...but it's on the 17th floor. And that's just crazy talk. Especially in heels.

Foods Eating Healthy Costs $$$ !!! Aug 02 2006

I have actually found that since starting to eat healthier I've been spending less money. I'm not buying as many junk-y snacks and if you buy the produce that's in season it's quite inexpensive.

I used to spend about $150 a week-week and a half (it's just me and my husband) but now I only spend about $40 per week. Granted, it's for breakfast and dinner fixings only since we both usually buy our lunch out, but I have noticed we've been spending less!

The fresh, healthy food can be more expensive than boxed or prepackaged food, but I guess the difference is that I'm buying less junk. A box of Wheat-thins is $2.65 but a pound of inseason apples is $1.99, for example.

Sorry, I guess this wasn't very helpful, but just sharing my experience.  :) Hope some other people have some tips for you!

I agree with Christen about the Dan Brown books. I liked Angels and Demons a lot better than DiVinci Code, too.

My #1 recommendation would have to be The Poisenwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver. It is my favorite book of all time. It's beautifully written but easy to follow and quite long. I bought it in an airport on my way to England and my husband actually had to drag me out of our hotel room - I just wanted to sit and read it rather than tour the Tower of London. Haha. I highly highly recommend it. I've read it at least once a year for the past 5 years.

Christen - after reading your post and your profile I can't believe how similar we are! I'm also a 24 year old receptionist in So Cal (Sherman Oaks). I wear small/medium tops and size 10 pants. My goal is also 130 pounds by mid-end October and hopefully a size 6/8. I also totally aspire to be a domestic goddess - especially one from the 50s! My parents have always told me I was born in the wrong decade! :)

Anyway, I added you to my friends. It's awesome finding some one so exactly in my situation! Haha. Let's motivate each other! Fun!

Well...this weekend was pretty much one long party. Started out with not eating very well on Friday. I was so busy at work that I didn't eat lunch and when I finally ate dinner, it was a Domino's personal size pizza at a concert. I felt *so* sick afterwards. Definitley cured me of ever craving fast food pizza again. Then of course came the drinking - though I did stick to diet root beer and rum. I probably came in at the right amount of cals for Friday - just not many nutrients.

Saturday was basically a free-for-all. Skipped breakfast cause I slept in so late, had part of a BBQ sandwich, fries, baked beans and soda for lunch. Snickers bar. A couple of Danish cookies. Had a Kit Kat and soda at the movies. Don't even remember what we had for dinner...but nothing good, I can assure you!

Sunday we went out for brunch and I had french toast and a mocha. A couple more Danish cookies. 1/2 cup of Salt and Vinegar potato chips (thank goodness that was the last of them though). Dinner was a quarter of a burger, some fries, a little bit of vanilla shake, and a salad at Fuddruckers. Later that night a piece of flourless chocolate cake and a big glass of 2% milk. Yum.

Now that I write it all down, it's not *quite* as bad as it could have been. Mostly thanks to how sick everything made me feel. It was fun though, and a good learning experience if nothing else. :D

I'm back on the wagon again today though!

Lizzle - that's a good idea about keeping the scale next to the toilet. I'll see if mine fits there. Right now I keep it standing up inside the cupboard...and I wonder if that's why I get such varying numbers from one day to the next...cause it's always getting jostled around. Hopefully I can figure out a way to keep it out. Thanks for the idea!

Wow! Great workout afterall, Lizzle! I'm so impressed! Hopefully I can get my butt to the gym as soon as I get home - but I really don't wanna!

Thanks for all the great info on the scale and everything. I'm going to look into it. My only problem is that I don't have a place I can keep it out and on a hard surface all the time. Hmmm....

When my cousin was about 6 she was watching my aunt put laundry away and saw some lingerie sticking out of an open drawer. My cousin pulled it out, held it up and said with disgust "Mom, I know what this is!" My aunt said "Oh, what is it?" and my cousin answered "It's a sexual harassment suit!".

Hahaha. I think of that story everytime I need a good laugh. It still cracks me up...even 12 years later!

Thanks Lizzle! Pretty much all I did differently was increase my water intake (from minimum of 80 oz to minimum of 95 oz) and I did drop my cals from 1500 to 1300 (or a little more depending on my work outs). Not much change...but seems to be working. Hopefully it'll keep working.

That's amazing that you're under 135! Great job! That's got to feel so good! What weight did you start at? I can't imagine getting into the 130's. I'll be freaked out! I can't wait! :P

Also, how do you know your body fat percentage? I'd really like to find out what mine is and keep track of it. Do you have those caliper thingies or what?

Have a good easy-ish workout!
