Page 5? Geez! That must have been a pain to find! I usually just go through my profile page since I don't post much in the forums - it makes it easy to find you all! LOL

PEANUT ~ That is CRAZY about Parker not receiving the vaccine ASAP. He's in the high priority catagory (as I understand the CDC recommendations and as they are being handled in this State) and should have had access to it already or this week. Our State received it's X number of doses and it has been shipped out to doctors/clinics who signed up for it. I cannot imagine why his doctor couldn't refer him to another doc that has it already. Weird set-up by the public health folks out there. I'm sorry! I hope you can get it for him soon.

And I'm glad you are feeling better! I do know what you mean by unbendy scabs! That's where I'm at right now.

RING ~ I just don't think I have the time to do P90X the way he has it set up. I'm going to try, but I am not sure I'll get it in that many days in a row. I am running at lunchtime now, so I should have time when I get home, but man, 1.5 hours a day is a lot....especially after I'll have run in the afternoon. So we'll see. I suppose I'll get the three weights days in, but maybe not the Kempo, plyo and yoga....If I do get that much in and I don't lose this last round of weight, NOTHING is going to take it off me! LOL

Who knew it takes so long for a stupid skinned knee to get better? I have possibly the ugliest scab ever on my knee and the stupid thing still aches a bit. But it doesn't hurt to run, so that's all the exercise I've been getting.

Ring ~ I am going to start P90X once my knee heals. I cannot put any weight directly on it (like I can't kneel down) and you probably don't need to kneel down for a lot of the stuff, but I'm just going to wait until it doesn't hurt anymore. I hope that's next week....and I need a cable that will allow me to run it from my computer to the TV. My bro gave me his copy which won't work in my dvd player, but works on my laptop dvd (don't ask, I have no idea why), and J said there's a cable we can buy so I can play it from my laptop on the tv. I'm going to try to grab it this weekend.

I also probably won't follow it strictly. I will be running 3-4 x week at lunch still and want to add in the other stuff 3 x week. Just trying to up my weights work to see if I can get the scale to drop some.

Peanut ~ Are you feeling any better at all? I'm so sorry you have the FlU! ICK! I hope it runs it's course quickly and you are back to your old self by the end of the weekend. Does P have it too?

Val ~ I agree with Ring! Your book sounds good too! You ladies know you have two good sales customers right here :) Can't wait!! Have you managed to avoid the flu?

You guys are too funny! This thread is enough to make me venture out of *lurk* mode.

I don't think New England has been represented yet, so here goes:

My family dressed the turkey with stuffing. Too weird? It was a fantastic italian sausage stuffing made with sage, onions, fennel seed, red and green peppers, bread and the requisite liquid (broth) and S&P. I'm sure I'm leaving something out, but you get the drift...

MIL makes an awesome chestnut sausage oyster stuffing. No idea what else is in it, other than the aforementioned stuff.

MMMmmm.

If you'd like to give a small gift to someone, try buying these chocolate bars. A portion goes to protecting endangered species. You can get them at some better super markets and at organic stores.

They cost less than $3.00 so perfect for little small gifts.

This is a great stocking stuffer idea! I know I can get these at Fresh Market.

St. Jude's Children's Hospital has a gift shop that offers some cute things and the proceeds benefit the kids.

Also, the Pottery Barn has a great little candle on offer this year that benefits St. Jude's as well. Check these out - the shipping is free, too! (Can you tell this charity is close to my heart?!)

Hiya!

Ring is out today because D's Uncle passed away suddenly. He was young and had young children. Just tragic. They are having his services today, according to her post yesterday.

*HUGS* Ring! We're thinking of you :)

PEANUT ~ I can't WAIT to read this!! I think your letter sounds good! Of course, I don't know a thing about what the publisher's expect in a letter, but it's a nice synopsis and has me wondering what happened at the Lake to help her realize those things...

Ring, I hope that tomorrow and Wednesday go as well as possible for you all. Was this Uncle on D's Mom or Dad's side? Please know we'll be thinking of you all.

And thank you for the explanation about the contacts! That makes sense. I would never have thought of it, but I get it :) And it's good it doesn't change the surgery time, either.

Peanut ~ those DO sound interesting! I can't wait to read them either - and I volunteer my eyes, too, if you need 'em. If not, I'll just wait for my autographed copy to arrive in the mail ;)

I can't believe it's only Monday! AUGH! Too much to do, not enough time. But I am off home now, as I am still not feeling 100%. I think I might need sleep at this point...

I agree with smader about gu for running gels, if you can tolerate them. I actually prefer to use Sport Beans and mini pretzels for long runs myself. You need to drink water or a sports drink with the gu, though, and more often than not, I cannot stand to have that much water sloshing around in my stomach on a long run.

The pretzels have the bonus of having a bit of salt on them, too, which helps with keeping up sodium stores in a stressed body (from a long run.)

I only use the pretzels for the last part of a long run (last few miles of a half etc.) As for the sport beans, I eat them after my first hour and then again every half hour or so - but I don't eat a full pack at one time. My stomach can't handle it.

Good luck in your marathon!

You've gotten some excellent advice up there. As an aside, stress can also make your period late because it wreaks havoc on your whole system. I think it's a good idea to take that test today and to make that appointment with your doctor.

Good luck.

Dave, dans friend is just a total waste of space i dont know why they bother giving him any airtime.

He cleary is not interested in losing weight and thinks he doesnt have a problem.

Although I was not surprised to see that he had at least gained all his weight back (Dave, that is) I was surprised that he would consent to being on air again like that! I couldn't believe he was saying he was "just relaxing" right now...WTH? Why did he want to be on the show initially with Dan? I just don't get it.

And he illustrated his lack of problems with that high calorie drink he had in his hand. Geez.

Hiya Ring!

Sorry I was not in here today - I had the day off and spent a good deal of it in bed. I think I'm fighting off a cold and at this moment, I'm winning ;)

Hope you had fun tonight with your Relay gals! I'm sure D will be happy when you are home :)

My sister had lasik and loves the results! I'm sure you will too.

The gals have written all of their words required for NaNo, according to FB - so maybe we'll see them soon!!!

Love it!! Can't wait to see the next episode!

*SPOILER ALERT! STOP READING IF YOU ARE NOT CAUGHT UP BUT WATCH THE SHOW!*

So much to unwind in the plot - can't wait to see how they do it. Will she get pregnant? What about the "experiment?" Does the wedding take place and is it to someone else? (Not Cho's character?) We've seen a bit of quantum mechanics with the Shroedinger's cat-type plot line; will we also see a bit of chaos theory with a play off of the "butterfly effect" with the agent who offed himself? *Sorry! I'm horrible with character names! I can't remember anyone's name but Olivia's for some reason....*

At any rate, looking forward to next week!

Ring, that sounds like an interesting position. Would it still be in aeronautical/space engineering?

It certainly sounds like you have a lot to do at home! LOL I need to clean my house and we have a basement project that needs to get started as well, but none of that will happen this weekend. I am going to loaf until the race is over, then we'll see how I feel about cleaning! At least putting away new stuff from the wedding is fun!

I hope the gals pop in and tell us a bit about their novels! It sounds like a lot of work to me :) But I'll bet it's fun to see it all come together so quickly with this deadline they have....

OK, have a good afternoon! I'll be back in later to check...

I kind of feel like we need to be on the NaNo site, too, Ring! We're missing out!

Ladies ~ do we get to read your NaNo novels afterward? How does this whole thing work?

Ring, sorry you are having a not so great week this week. I hope the weekend is better for you. And I stand by what I wrote in your journal yesterday - go on and look at the opportunity. You have nothing to lose by following up on it and there is no way to know if it would be a good fit for you otherwise, right? What kind of job would you be doing?

I am so glad it's Thursday and almost the weekend. Actually, I'll be extra glad when Sunday afternoon gets here and the half marathon has come and gone. The anticipation is killing me. Really. I am just aiming to finish, but I really want to be done with it at this point! LOL

The Lounge misheard lyrics Nov 03 2009
18:48 (UTC)

This post is making me laugh out loud and my co-workers are wondering what I'm up to! Too funny!

I have a couple to add:

My best friend's sister used to sing (and this is an oldie!) the refrain to Juice Newton's song "Angel of the Morning" as:

Real Lyrics: "Just call me Angel of the morning, Angel; Just touch my cheek before you leave me..."

New Lyrics: "Just call me Angel of the morning, Angel; Just brush my teeth before you leave me..." It makes me laugh EVERY time I think of it.

And for the longest time (we're talking until like five years ago) I thought that another oldie by England Dan & John Ford Coley called "I'd Really Love to See You Tonight"  went like this:

New Lyrics: "I'm not talking 'bout Bolivia, and I don't want to change your life;"

Real Lyrics: "I'm not talking 'bout moving in, and I don't want to change your life:"

I couldn't imagine WHY he'd be talking about Bolivia anyway, I knew it didn't make sense, but I could never figure out the real lyrics!

Ha ha ha!

Hello!!! I'm finally back and able to jump in here again :)

Ring ~ thank you! The trip was great ~ I wrote a bit about it in my journal today and posted photos on FB. The race was fun, but I struggled a bit. That's OK, though. I finished! A received a cool finisher's medal to boot. LOL

Peanut ~ My niece who turned three today (!) was a bee for halloween too! SO CUTE. Love the photos! And it's funny to think that you didn't grow up doing the halloween thing....I can see how strange it would be...

How's the NaNo coming? One of J's teacher friends at school (english teacher) is using that as a teaching tool with her high school students. J thought it was a great idea :) I can't wait to hear how it went overall at the end!

Val ~ where are you? And where is Jess??

Hi Ladies,

NOT at work this week, on vacation in FL. It was that time of year again to bring the car back down for my Mom. I finally got her DSL hooked up tonight so I thought I'd jump in here quickly and leave a message for you all. I'll be home on Sunday and will try to catch up on journals and all.

Ran in the Disney Twilight Zone Tower of Terror 13K last Saturday night (It started at 10:30PM!) And should have some photos to post when I get home. It was fun! Now, onto the half marathon.

If I decide to return to the cold North, that is ;) J'll miss me if I don't go home...hmm.

RING~~ Glad to hear your special day went wonderfully! I cannot wait to check out your photos on FB and read these journal entries! I'm just too tired to do it tonight. My Mom is sick and I've been trying to get all this stuff done for her....sigh.

HI Peanut! Hi Val! See you soon :)

I'd LOVE to read your book! Can't wait, really. Do you already have contact info for agents? Are there good resources out there for advice?

So excited to hear about Ring's trip! And she better post photos for those of us who couldn't attend....LOL

And I totally agree about Dina doing so well at home. Cannot wait to see her at the finale! I do think Dan could do it at home had they sent him, too. I'm interested to see how long he stays on this time. With a +1 this week, he's bound to have a good week next.

I have to admit, though, I was hoping that the other team would have to send Tracy home this week. Did anyone catch her comments about "hoping they ate cake and drank soda?" I so wanted to smack her...LOL

Hey Ladies!

Peanut ~ I finally did get to chill out on Sunday, thankfully! I will make up for lost rest next week when I am at my Mom's - I can't wait!

I don't think Ring is back from her honeymoon until the 24th....so my guess is she'll be back to work on the 26th? Can't wait to hear stories of the wedding...and see photos, with luck!

Keep working on the novel! I wanna read it too! Can I join the book club as a distance member?
